Phoracantha recurva

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Insecta
Order: Coleoptera
Suborder: Polyphaga
Family: Cerambycidae
Genus: Phoracantha
Species: Phoracantha recurva

Location: Sardinia

The Phoracantha recurva is similar to the Phoracantha semipunctata, but differs in the smaller size and more limited dark markings. Unlike that species the basal portion of the elytra appears dominantly pale, with only a few separated dark spots instead of a series of closer markings.

It can be normally seen in the eucalyptus trees.
It is believed that the Phoracantha recurva was originally an Australian insect and was imported in Europe, Sardinia included, during transport of wood packing material.
