Ha il vantaggio di aver sperimentato sui materiali arrivando a farci scoprire che si potevano creare nuove forme (c.a. e ferro)

Considerato anti-arte, degenerazione del gusto

Mirava alla cessazione dell'imitazione di forme stilistiche preesistenti/alla conoscenza delle forme artistiche popolaresche

Gaudi: si valse delle straordinarie possibilità plastiche che gli offriva il cemento armato per costruire edifici incredibilmente mossi e liberi, dove il gioco dei volumi veniva sottolineato dalla sinuisità delle curve e ravvivato da florescenze

Art Nouveau ha il merito i rompere con la tradizione e di segnare il primo passo verso una "plastificazione della linea costruita --> ma solo con la corrente purificatrice del razionalismo, si ha la vera rottura con il passato e la rinuncia a un eccessivo tecnicismo standardizzatore
