The Formula Student Germany is an international construction competition for students. Every year in the late summer, students from all over the world meet for one week in Hockenheim (Germany) to show performances of their self-constructed racing cars. The purpose of the contest is to design and manufacture a single-seater formula racing car in teamwork to compete against all other teams.
There are three categories of vehicles:
- Formula Student Combustion: cars with a combustion engine
- Formula Student Electric: cars with an electric motor
- Formula Student Driverless: cars that can run without a driver in autonomous mode
