2 Roms in ONE (!) Action Replay
Tested only with AMD's AM29F010 rom. If you have another rom just Check the manufacturer Web site to find the right pinout of your particular rom !!!
I'd like to premit that this hack worked on my HK clone Cart and i'm not sure it will work the same on other Type/brands of Action Replay !
I was worried having to flash 2 kinds of rom: one fore developing progs on PSX and one for hacking the games every time i wanted to... so i thought a bit, used my brain and built this little hack.
It works on a simple principle: you can connect the two roms Pin-to-Pin leaving only the pin 22 of every rom free.
Pin 22 is the Chip Enable (CE) command (Low Active) and works this way: if the CE pin is Low (mean connected to GND) the Rom is fully working and if CE is High (mean connected to +5v) the Rom acts like it is not inserted in the circuit !
Normally (in my cart) pin 22 is connected to pin 10 of 74xx245 logic (in other cart i found it was attached to the Galxxx, so please refer to your particular scheme)
So i disconnected it by cutting with a little blade (mind your fingers) from the route to pin 22 of the original ROM.
I took a wire (as explained in the .Gif) from pin 10 of the logic to a switch and then other 2 wires from the 2 pin 22 of the 2 ROMs to both ends of the switch.
But there was a problem : during Caeflash it failed to do the Writing Test !!!
So i decided to DISABLE the rom whose pin 22 was NOT attached to the Logic !
(i know it's hard to understand but just take a look to the .Gif and you'll understand everything!)
And All Went Well :)
Then you can make a hole in the Cart's package and insert the switch.
Another problem remained to Fix:
The new rom i bought couldn't be flashed (since it's blank).
To flash the 2nd (NEW) rom just Connect the cart to PSX and Comm-Link
-Turn off the PSX
-Enable the old rom with the switch you just made
-Turn on the PSX to see if it works (if it doesn't check for your work)
-Start Caeflash.com and flash a Rom of your choice (minding the size of the ROM you bought)
-Turn off the PSX
-Turn on the PSX
-Now you should see a prompt telling you that Flasher program was sent to PSX
-Switch to the NEW rom
-Press a key (on PC) and proceed in flashing.
Now that ALL went well Test if you really have 2 different ROMs in your cart (It's safer to turn off the PSX when you switch from a ROM to another).
