How to create an xbox 360 ISO from an original game
Here's what you need:
- a Dual Layer DVD burner
- a double-layer Video DVD
- an original xbox 360 DVD game in DVD9 format
- the wxRipper program
- the wxStop program
- the WX360 program
- The SS merger program
- CloneDVD or IMGBURN
- The ss.bin file, of which:
- /redSecure sector (Ss) of the original game you are dumping (can be found on internet), which is a code without which the game does not start (obviously the xbox must be modified)
- /redStealth Patch (SP), to play online with a backup copy
How to create the ISO
The first thing to do is to insert a Video DVD (DVD9 recommend) in your PC. Wait until it loads, block any autorun, and then start the wxStop program. A small window will open, in which you will notice the title of the inserted DVD (in my case TOMB RAIDER). Now click on the STOP button, in this way you will stop the rotation of the Video DVD.
Now you have to do a "hot swap" with the original DVD of an Xbox 360 game. To do this, get a paper clip, and insert it deeply into the little hole that you find on your PC DVD burner, in this way the tray will partially open and you can manually slide it completely out. Then remove the inserted DVD Video and put in the game for the Xbox 360. Then push the DVD tray until it is closed.
Start the wxRipper program now.
How to burn the ISO
Ok, now we have our beautiful ISO file and the relative ss.bin file (secure sector, look for them on internet ...).
Let's start the SS Merger program
It is very easy and intuitive to use.
In the first field select the just created iso, then click on the item "Detect".
We load the SS file related to the dumped game. Click on the icon related to our ISO, (xbox or xbox360 game). Then, click on the lower right corner, on the entry Merge and create layer break file. Wait the end of the process. A message will inform us of the successful operation. We are also advised to use CloneDVD, but it is better to use the classic CloneCD.
But first we have to do this extra step;
It is very important that you set the Book Type of our Double Layer DVD burner from DVD + R DL to DVD-ROM. Without doing this the xbox would consider the disk as DVD + R DL and would therefore refuse to run it.
This can be set using the Nero CD-DVD Speed utility (Start -> Nero -> Nero Toolkit -> Nero CD-DVD Speed).
From the menu select Extra -> Bitsetting.
In the new window set the options as DVD-ROM, mark the box "set as default" and press Set to save the new configuration. Then click on Refresh to update the window and verify that the settings have been saved correctly.
This procedure is not compatible with all burners!
Open the file game.DVD that SS Merger created in CloneCD (pay attention to open the .dvd and not the .iso directly!).
Burn it on a Double Layer DVD.
