People amaze me. As much as we feel we have progressed forward, we
have remained fairly in the same position. Our reaction to situations is so
deeply ingrained in our psychological make-up that it's pathetic. Take a
look at this in your life, for example: The phone rings. The immediate
response is to pick up the receiver and answer in either a casual or formal
tone, normally depending upon atmosphere. See my point?
Perhaps I need to illustrate this further, digressing into a little
speech on human relationships. Cookbook relationships tend to be what sell
these days. Look at any stupid teen bopper magazine and you'll see this
painted as clear as day. People believe and will do whatever they read,
and will often inherent this as an almost stereotypical response to any
small quirk that upsets their life.
So what's my point? People are becoming just like Pavlov's dogs.
Salivating at the situations that they can understand and respond too, and
doing so quickly. No thought, and no rendering the problem into bits and
pieces for easier consumption and understanding. Indeed, all of these
aspects of the situation are entirely overlooked. Instead, they hop over to
the easier solution: doing what their feeble minds have been programmed and
instructed to do over the ages.
Why does this piss me off? I'm not even sure it does. It was just
something that popped into my head and I wanted to get it down on paper for
later review. Cause and effect is the standard for most of today's
relationships - political, personal, or otherwise.
All of this leads to the reason that I feel people became so upset
these days. We live in a world of unbelievable convenience and reliability.
We expect our systems and supports to be firmly entrenched. But, when
something throws a wrench into our plans, we splatter off of our cloud into
a bloody mess below.
So, next time your pissed off because some random situation just isn't
playing out how you intended it to, try to figure out what the situation is
trying to teach you, learn from it, and then forget it immediately. Because
I don't want you to be on top of things, and I want you to suffer.
In short, think and you will be superior.
