introduction to issue 2

It's crunch time once again at Mimic Ascii. I'm writing this up the day before the pack comes out. What did I do last night? I hung out in the court yard at school and got totally faded. Then I pissed on myself. It was a wild evening to be sure.

Last weekend I visited Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. It's a very nice place, plenty of nice, smart, computer nerds who are sort of into partying. The whole school could use to be loosened up a bit if you ask me. It looks cool, but I have no chance of getting in. Poor old me.

Enough whining.

Yet again, Mimic members haven't been entirely forthcoming with articles. What can ya do? Not much. It's okay, though, we're still going strong. We have a badass web page set up, you can download ascii packs ANDread issues of Mimeograph. It's really sweet. If you guys see Black Jack on IRC or something, let him know how cool he is for registering mimic.ca.

Hope you like what you find in here, it's not much, but we like to call it home. As they say in the underground digital special computer art scene,"uNF uNF uNF."

about Mimeograph

Thank you for taking the time to check out Mimeograph, the Mimic Asciie mag. Mimeograph was scripted using eBUILD v1.65 , an electronic magazine creation program coded by Horrid and friends. We chose eBUILD for this project over having an ansi-format mag or coding a system ourselves because we feel it's important to support scene software authors and their programs. Thank you, Horrid ! At the time of this writing, eBUILD's homepage was located at http://ebuild.cjb.net/ . Go there today to pick up a copy and start writing your own emag today!

As stated in the info file, Mimeograph is a vehicle for the individual members of Mimic Ascii, not the group's administration , so they may express their opinions and flex their creative biceps. Thus, if you have beef with anything you read in here, take it up with the individual rather than the group. We hope you enjoy Mimeograph, this is only a disclaimer of sorts.

If you wish to contribute to Mimeograph, you must already be a member of Mimic Ascii. Provided that you belong to us, you may send your submissions to any member of the senior staff or to meatpod. Consult the member list for more information. At the moment, Mimeograph is distributed in Mimic Ascii packs. For past Mimic releases, as well as information on the group and other jollies, you can visit http://www.mimic.ca/. We'll see you there!

Enjoy Mimeograph!

what is mimeograph?

by meatpod

Over the 2 months since the last release of mimeograph, I've had tofield a lot of questions about it. Most of these have had to do with either the pronunciation of the name or what it's all about. Thus, I shall proceed to answer these two questions.

Question the first: How do you pronounce the name ? Black Jack used to pronounce it "MEYEMO GRAPH." That's wrong, and I told him so. The real way to pronounce it, which is actually noted in the MIMEO.NFO file (little bit of trivia for ya), is " mim ee o graph." This is the most exciting article in the whole magazine, so if you're bored now, you might as well stop looking.

Question the second: What is a mimeograph? A mimeograph is kind of like a cheap form of xerox that they used to use at my school. The ink is purple, and there are no shades in between. It's for cheap schools who can't afford to reproduce things well. Me and my friends discovered, though, that if you get a warm mimeographed piece of paper and really sniff it hard, it gives you a little buzz, kind of like a whippit.

We used to sit in Social Studies and be huffing this cheap xerox crap, but then the teachers figured out we weren't learning good. So now we don't get printed materials. That's just what life is like when you live in the ghetto.

I was walking down the street the other day and I stepped in spit. Imean, some guy spit on the street and I stepped in it. What the hell is our society coming to? It's totally unacceptable, TOTALLY. My mom thinks so, too.

Fuck you

Looks like I'm the only one writing again for my magazine, so it's time to go filth-style. Not that filth is a particularly angry guy. I think he's sort of mellow.

First off, let me say that you guys are assholes. I find the level of apathy among doodle boys very hard to believe. "I had so much work to do." Fuck you. You could at least write SOMETHING. Hey losers -- want to know why you do so badly in school? Because you don't write anything. "I was playingQuake II, so I couldn't write." You're idiots.

Jesus Christ, it's so easy, and all of you are just so dumb. Go to hell. You can all just go off to your state colleges and take your computer science classes and never rise above the level of geeky anonymity because all you can do is write out bad programs in C++ and play with Photoshop.

I'm not saying I'm any good at this, but at least I try. You don't try. No you don't. I blame the European artists.

Fuck Karma

by meatpod

Dear Karma, Mankind, Martz,
Are you stupid? I don't think this is a nice thing to do according to the book of fair group competition. I know what you're going to say in broken English -"But meatpod! Funny group Homo!Ascii do it in they packs!"Yeah, we did. You know why that was funny? Because it was completely beyond the realm of what people considered acceptable, and henceforth the only people who were upset were Remorse members who were worried that other people were going to be upset. When we did it, it was crazy; when you did it, it was just dumb.

I'm not speaking from the standpoint of my ethnic background.

For those of you who don't know, Martyr the Super Jew and Mankind the border line National Socialist have discovered a vastFascist conspiracy operating within the bounds of the popular group Mimic Ascii! The senior staff of Mimic has been secretly negotiating plans to call Martyr a "dumb jew."

In addition, at the bottom of every ascii released in Mimic, there is tiny ascii swastika. Having been uncovered, however, Mimic has launched a secret "virus" program that will remove the evidence of this little Nazi symbol. If you check old packs of Mimic Ascii quickly, before the virus takes its toll, you may be able to see it.

Mimic has also canceled its deal with Kagi.com, the internet mail-order company used by ACiD Productions, for ten thousand red and gold swastika arm-bands. Black Jack, founder of Mimic Ascii was quoted as saying: "We were all planning to wear them when we kick banned Volatile from#ascii, but I guess we can't do that now, because we've been found out. We'reNazis, every one of us."

Good job, Karma! You found us out.

To all the European / Semitic artists in Mimic: If you believe the hype, please quit right now. We're very tolerant of diversity, but not of stupidity.
