. . . : ; The "I'D RATHER BE CODING" Notice

Quite simply, I get on mindless fetishes. And to contradict myself, its
the only thing I can think about. Recently, I just finished one coding
venture (see below), and I have another being worked on, and will prove
much awesomer if anything ever comes of it. I'd rather be coding then
Chico's Grooving.

. . . : ; The "WHY BOTHER?" Notice

You ask me why bother? Why do I care about Stella getting her Groove,
when there are other things I'd rather be doing? Because I know, down
the road, that I'll be much happier if I keep these stupid things going.
Kinda like your mother telling you eating craploads of candy was bad.
Actually, nevermind. I ate craploads of candy and nothing bad happened
to me. Kinda like you're in a hurry, but you look both ways before
crossing the street. Yeah, that works.

. . . : ; ANNOUNCEMENTS and whoa, morbus wants to go away...

NEW DEVIL SHAT (#SixtyThree): Once again, Morbus pulls a Copperfield and
doesn't show up to this issue with anything but an incredibly boring
editorial. That's OK though, as instead, you'll find out why Microsoft,
monkeys, black people, and desktop publishing all happily relate. You'll
also hear a heart-felt confession from bad boy Rown Garnbii. I've
already called the cops on him, but power in numbers, eh?

NEW GHOST SITES (#36): Apologizing for the lack of a March issue, Steve
Baldwin returns with a fistful of Rotting Remote Locations contributed
through the handy Ghost-O-Meter. Catch such tooth decay with Coming Soon
Magazine (whose time has come), a Web Design clinic aching for a for a
redesign, and many more.

THE NEW PUBLISHERS OF: Yes, that's right! After months of sweaty browed
perspiration, Disobey and Anti-Press have inked a deal. Starting a week
or so ago, Disobey is the new publisher of Anti-Press Ezine. And if we
didn't think it was great, we wouldn't give a shit. If you have a
fondness for Devil Shat, Viewer Discretion, or Capital of Nasty, then
expose yourself to an email zine "positive about the negative". The
newest issue is already available, and the subscriber rate has been
growing exponentially. Don't be a loser. Jump on the bandwagon.

NETSLAVES IS SPANKIN' NEW: Bluntly hinted at (oooOohh... oxymoron!) in
the last issue of the Groove, NetSlaves got hit with a entire redesign
this month as we move toward the atypical Slashdot posting system. Some
bitched, some rejoiced, but all in all, the hits have gone up, and the
appearance of new content has greatly increased. Be sure to stop by for
the latest daily posting, a new Combat Manual, more interviews, and tons
more.

TWO NEW VIEWER DISCRETIONS: That's the nice thing about having monthly
Grooves - so much stuff comes out that you've just got to scamper around
trying to catch up on it all. And scamper you must to read the newest
Viewer Discretions! Hundreds of people have lovingly been yelling "I've
got VD!" as they newest issues bring joy, addiction, and satisfaction to
their aching hearts. You've simply got to read these stupid things. Jump
on the gravy train because this is the newest poison. Holy crap, that
was the queerest thing I have ever said.

HUGE UPDATES TO THE HORROR SECTION: Tons of new updates to The Horror
Section as IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS is added to "Movie Media" as well as
98 new "Posters and Similar" and 133 new "Comics and Magazines". Along
with the added downloads were improved naming schemes as well as an
expanded and revised "Comics and Magazines" section. Are we missing
anything you want? Let us know! We've got another 500 megs or so to
throw up, but we'll certainly take requests ;)

MINOR UPDATES: A couple of minor updates this month. As the amount of
content Disobey publishes gets larger, so does the amount of scrolling
on the site's main page. Thus the addition of a quick link bar.
Ironically enough, this increases the length of the main page, but does
cut down on scrolling for people who know where they want to go. And
it's just plain handy for those idiots who don't know they *can* scroll
down. Also cleaned up were the text/ archives. Nothing big, but
important for my sanity, nonetheless.

NEW SOFTWARE AVAILABLE: I've never been satisfied with the various CGI
scripts, I also find myself wanting to change this or that, and then
rebuilding the whole thing from scratch. So annoyed at the lack of
decent Perl search scripts available, I introduce the public beta of
ISP-Search. Quite simply, ISP-Search is intended for ISPs or web hosting
companies who want to install the script, point people to instructions,
and forget about it. Completely configurable from the customer side, its
built in Perl, is especially cautious about security, and has a three
tier documentation system for those who can't handle thinking all that
much. Public beta is by request only - if you want a copy, drop me an
email and I'll send you the tarbull. After a dry run period, a final
public release will appear.

. . . : ; EVERYTHING else and rightly so...

NEW MOVIES: I was depressed. That's what my lame ass excuse is for the
large influx of new videos I've purchased. And still more on the way! I
tell ya, eBay is the greatest thing to hit the budget movie shopper
since going out of business video stores. New additions include: THE
DENTIST, AMITYVILLE HORROR 2, MEATEATERS, THE UNEARTHLY, DEMENTIA 13,
LADY FRANKENSTEIN, THE DENTIST 2, POLTERGEIST III, LEPRECHAUN 2, THE
BEING, BEYOND THE DOOR 2, DR. GIGGLES, SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT 2,
METROPOLIS/THINGS TO COME and THE TERROR (whose sound track was so
horrible that the MUTE button became a welcome distraction). And two
movies which were rented, but weren't owned: PI (which was really good),
and INNOCENT BLOOD (which never lives up to what I keep hearing about
it).

WHY I HATE MICROSOFT: You know, I admire Microsoft. They wanted to take
over everything, and until recently, they were doing it with impunity.
Disobey won't make the same mistake. Nor will it make the same mistake
of using Outlook Express for the Macintosh. After holding about 4000
messages in various folders, and downloading 90 to 125 new messages
daily, OE simply decided to crap out. And now just any crap out. We're
talking "crash in the middle of a POP download, which causes a .poplock
at the server, which causes Morbus to get mad as he waits 20 minutes to
check his mail again". Repeat until a good handful of hair is missing.
Sigh. One whole weekend last month was devoted to moving back to old
time favorite Eudora Pro. No problems so far. Immensely annoying.

. . . : ; BLAHBLAHS OF THE WEEK: ( march 10th - april 13th )

[TimeWaster-of-the-Week]-= The Sims
---I should have none. A lover of the original SimCity series, I
---should have guessed that The Sims would be as addictive. It was
---an innocent purchase, but one that ate a healthy portion of
---time. Heh. Healthy. I wish my Sims were healthy. It's so close
---to life that I wonder why I don't smell horrible, soil myself
---frequently, or die due to bacterial infection.

[TimeWasterTwo-of-the-Week]-= Starcraft
---I'm a fan of strategy games and due to an happenstance borrowing
---of someone's Starcraft CD, I've now become hopelessly entangled
---with Starcraft and its missions. And I've quickly discovered
---that when it comes to Battle.Net, I suck. Hardcore. Actually,
---hardcore is too weak of a term. So is pathetic. Perhaps
---hardcore pathetic? As in Plattsburgh hardcore pathetic?
