Propaganda Magazine Issue 01
FOREWORD
~~~~~~~~
Welcome to Propaganda Magazine Issue #1. I guess you are sitting there
reading this and thinking to yourself "oh shit, not another console
e-mag. Let's see how long this lasts." Truth to the matter is, I don't
know how long it's going to last, but it seems to me that we need
something that will come out semi-regularly that people actually put some
time and energy into. Plus the whole 'scene' has become rather
disjointed and there are parts of it that do not seem to want to
communicate with each other, or do so very poorly. We hope to be able to
bridge some of that gap with this E-mag. We will bring you the news from
both sides of the field, the internet and the BBS world, as well as some
articles and commentaries on what's going on in general. We will also
have a chart showing where the groups ranked last month.
Let me say something about charts very quickly: charts seem to be like
assholes these days in that everyone has one and they think theirs is the
cleanest one around. I have yet to see a chart that seems to get it
right. Console World comes the closest, but even that seems to have a
*BIT* of an SNK slant to it, don't you think? I know that we're with the
huge Anthrox & SWAT Co-op, but if you think we're slanted, your best bet
is to probably take the charts from here and compare them to another
chart or two and see where everyone seems to agree. That's probably the
best way of doing rankings.
At any rate, feel free to leave me questions or comments whereever you

you'd like to submit for Propaganda, email it to
propaganda@cc.randomc.com. All articles are subject to approval and
editing in order to format it for the magazine and become our property,
but don't worry, the message content will be left intact.

We've been promising a chart for a long time, so we figured that
there was no better time to do it than now, when people are having to wait 27
days after a month ends to get a chart. Some articles have been thrown in to
jazz everything up and provide you with a little extra entertainment. These
articles will give you up to date info from the BBS Side as well as from
the InterNet perspective. Hopefully we'll do some interviews and whatnot
soon, so keep an eye out for future issues of Propanganda.
I sincerely hope that you find the rating system to be as unbiased
and fair as possible. It seems like so few charts are able to maintain
any integrity because the people running it tip things in their favor
(*cough* Console World *cough*). We've come up with a system that should
prove fair to everyone, which includes such things as giving betas and finals
the same amount of credit, and giving Euro versions of US stuff and vice
versa full credit. If you have any recommendations, please feel free to
