Playstation protection modchip detection
Most of the latest released PSX games are protected and are able to detect if a modchip has been installed in the Playstation. When the game finds one modchip, it will show the picture below and it stops playing the game!
Screen that appears on a Japanese Playstation if a protected game is played in a console with an installed modchip.
Screen that appears on an American Playstation if a protected game is played in a console with an installed modchip.
One of the first game to use this protection scheme was Dino Crisis in japan.
There are several ways to bypass the protection:
- remove the modchip from the console
- use some Action Replay codes to bypass the check
- install a stealth modchip
