Systems Announce Development System for the Nintendo64

SN Systems Ltd, creators of the industry-standard Psy-Q development system for Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn, now bring you the SN64 cartridge-based development system for the Nintendo 64.
It contains the same easy to use programmer's interface as the industry standard Psy-Q development System for the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

Software Provided

SN64 for the Nintendo 64 is supplied with some of the most powerful and advanced software tools ever seen in the industry, and is compatible with all Psy-Q development tools.

Included in the system are:

  • A powerful Windows 95 source-level debugger with state-of-the-art plug-in technology.

    The debugger allows you to

    • single-step code
    • set up to four types of breakpoints
    • use an expression clipboard
    • browse all data structures and analyse the call stack

It is customisable, expandable and uses the much-admired View and Pane architecture to maximise screen real estate

  • Two highly optimised 32-bit assemblers.

    One is optimised for hand-written assembler code;
the other is designed to be compatible with standard C including the popular Freeware GNU-C (supplied).

  • 32-bit high-speed linker and librarian, with extensive link-time options

Hardware Provided

  • Nintendo64 interface adapter cartridge

This compact and robust cartridge plugs directly into a standard retail console’s port. Its many features include:

    • an on-board microcontroller
    • 32Mb of RAM
    • an independent auto-sensing (100V - 250V) 5V power supply
    • two LED status indicators.

  • PC interface card

This card, which fits into a standard PC-compatible ISA slot, can achieve data transfer rates of up to 1 megabyte per second. When connected to the adapter cartridge by the cable supplied, this guarantees rapid software development and debugging.

Hardware Required

  • Host 486/Pentium PC with Windows 95 installed and one free ISA slot.

  • A retail Nintendo 64 with a relevant standard playable game cartridge (e.g. Mario 64).

Technical Support

As with all SN Systems development systems, technical support is free. A telephone call puts you in direct contact with our team of dedicated support staff.
You can also access our BBS and FTP site where any bugfixes are available to download within hours of reporting. In the unlikely event that your hardware malfunctions, we will despatch a replacement within 24 hours (subject to availability).

Thank you! I've corrected the date in the article. However, some websites list January 1980 as the date of death.
