HOW TO RIP EPHEMERAL PHANTASIA

By: go-kun

Once again I send out MAJOR PROPS to the DYNAMiTE TEAM, who once again freely provided the information which made this tutorial possible-Thanks Goku! (^_^)

Ok, by popular demand, this tutorial is in a more universal form. For that matter, I'll probably just post it to the forums hosted by: www.ps2ownz.com.

Anyhoo, as has become my habit, I will double check this info after it's completed, but I'm only human so I might make a mistake here or there. If so, simply post your question\problem to the DVD Ripping forum and I will try my best to help you out, as will the GREAT people who are regulars there (you know who you are^_~).

Also of note, this tutorial is being written PRIOR to release of the game so there might be some problems which I am yet unaware of. But let's hope not!

INFO:

- VERSION: US NTSC; 1.00
- MOD REQUIRED: YES
- MEDIA: 1 80min cdr
- US or PAL

TOOLS:

- Original DVD (duh!)
- Hex Workshop (SHAREWARE\30 DAYS)
- Cool Edit 2000 (SHAREWARE\CRIPPLED)
- IML2ISO (FREEWARE)
- CD\DVD Generator (COMMERCIAL!)
- CDRWin (SHAREWARE\1X)
- ISOBuster (FREEWARE)

PART1:

Copying
As always the first step is to copy all the files form the DVD to your hard drive. If you have any problems, see the DOS copy tutorials available from http://www.ps2ownz.com.

PART 2:

Downsizing

- Open the SOUND folder and you will see several BGMxx folders within. In the first folder (BGM00) delete all *PCM* files except for the first one (0000.PCM). In the remaining folders delete all PCM files.

- Now open 0000.PCM in Cool Edit and Select All. Now Cut. Now Generate Silence of duration 0.15 seconds. Save and Exit. You should now have a 0000.PCM which is roughly 24K. Copy and paste and rename it to replace all the files you deleted. I have been told that you can also delete the entire thing and save, creating a 0 byte PCM file. However, I have not tried this myself.

PART 3:

Cracking The SLUS

- Let's get those pesky DVD checks. Open the SLUS file in Hex Workshop. Ctrl+G to go to the offsets. There are 2 of them and you will find them at offsets: 27634 and 27688. Now a word for those of you into the disasm thing.

These calls are found by searching your disasm'd file for calls to the function: sceCdMmode. The format in this case is a jump to the function followed by li $a0, 2. This equates to 0200. Thus, we change this offset to 1.
That's how ya find it in asm. Anyhoo, once we've patched the strings, save your work and exit.

PART 4:

Finishing The Crack
Now we go back into the SOUND\BGM00 folder and open PCMLIST.BIN in Hex Workshop. Select All then fill with 00. Save and exit.
We're all done cracking now.

PART 5:

Setting Up The Image
- Open up CD\DVD Generator and create your directories first. Enter SLUS20169 as disc name; there is no Volume Label. Now, using ISOBuster as your guide, input the files in their proper order. Once done, save your work then Export IML file.

- Now we go into DOS land and run IML2ISO phantasia.iml PHANT.ISO.

PART 6:

Burning
- Now we are ready to burn our image. Open CDRWin and go into File Backup And Tools. Choose to Record an ISO9660 image, etc.
Burn and Enjoy. It's all done.
