QBasic Gazette e-vol. 1, no. 1
=========================================
Welcome to the first email version of the QBasic Gazette! There's many things in store for these email versions, and I hope that you all gain something from them in one way or another. There's currently 85 members, and I'm hoping to at least double that number and make one of the 'gaz one of the better known lists out there!

Keep in mind that this is the first issue.. so like.. uhm.. yeah. =)

* QBasic in the next millenium, by Tek

QBasic is probably in the prime of it's life right now, and no one can be certain on how long QB will be in it's prime. Some are skeptical to new versions of Windows making DOS less and less apparent, and some just think that QBasic will up and die at any given moment. What do I think? I think that QBasic is great to use for many reasons, and is a fundamentally important building block for those of us who want to go on to be programmers later in life. People are given a great opportunity to "test the waters" before diving into C or other high-level programming languages, or even learning asm. So where will QBasic stand in the next millenium? Probably still present to most people as "the language that could", and used by many to make everything ranging from games, to image editors, .wav players, and the whole array of things that push the intended limits of QB farther back.

* Wrath of Sona, by Tek

What's new in the qbasic rpg scene? Well, there's a relatively large set of downloads for "Wrath of Sona", an rpg in the works for quite some time by Kaddash Software Group, namely Nekrophidius and his contributors. Wrath of Sona looks like most other qb rpgs, with such quirks as tile by pixel scrolling, bwsb music, and an advanced dialog engine. The music is nice, and this rpg actually features a battle engine, yup, you heard right, a battle engine. One of the better ones in the qb scene.
