Hi all,

My first tutorial here and I hope it hasn't been posted and I hope someone gets some use out of it.

I am going to be talking about sharing your Internet connection from your computer to your Xbox, specifically over WiFi. You may one day find yourself in the same boat as me, where my router just isn't close to my Xbox and I didn't want to buy an additional adapter.

There are a few ways to do this and you need a couple of things:

1. Laptop or desktop with wireless capabilities connected to the Internet
2. An Ethernet cable if you have a gigabit port on the computer with WiFi and if it does not have gigabit, a crossover cable.
3. A modified Xbox (it may work on an unmodified one, but there's no use for that.)

I will be using UnleashX for my dashboard of choice.

1. If your computer has gigabit ethernet on it's motherboard, you have Auto-MIDX, meaning your port can sense the type of connection and effectively change your straight-through regular Ethernet cable to a crossover cable. If you are on 10/100, you need a crossover cable. Plug one end into your PC, and the other into your Xbox.

2. Open up your PC's network adapter page: (for Windows 7) - Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network Connections

3. Right-click on your wireless adapter and hit properties. Click on the Sharing tab and check the box that says Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection and hit OK. Windows will prompt you with some crap about what the LAN adapter's IP will now be. Don't be scared and hit Yes .

4. Go into your system settings (Xbox admin, system, settings) and enter into your network settings. Under the "Type" category, change it to DHCP. Reboot Xbox. Your Xbox should now have a DHCP leased IP address. Congrats, you're online via WiFi! Don't forget if you have XBMC you need to change that to DHCP too and reboot.

You can also bridge the two connections together, I used to do this when I used a crossover cable and a PS2 years ago. You highlight the two connections you want to combine and right-click and choose Bridge Connections .

Hope somebody got some use out of this. Ask questions below or PM me if you run into trouble.
