Were you scared when Electric Dreams arrived late? Well, I
hope that's the only trick you got for Halloween! The rest,
well it is all goodies!


If you are having other spooky nightmares, be sure to read
the Interview with Anthony Dubetz and how the dream hot line
has been working for several years.

Peggy Coats has been very busy this month and will be
bringing us all up to date on events in the Global Dreaming
News. There are lots of new sites and events related to
dreams and dreaming. Be sure to see the developments on the
DreamTree web site as it looks to be a major dream resource
in cyberspace. Peggy has also brought us an interview with
Jill Mellick on dreams an creativity. This theme seems to be
International as I noticed that the ASD Newsletter for Fall
96 is also devoted to dreams and the creative process. These
Newsletter can now be purchased individually, see the ASD
update in the Global Dreaming News. Speaking of ASD updates,
the ASD board has decided their Web site can contain links
and I hope you all get a chance to drop by the ASD bulletin
board/ message board and congratulate the board on this
progressive, wise decision!

Another theme that seems to be all around this month is
Paranormal Dreaming. Perhaps I'm just more aware of this as I
have been adding a new psi dreams lessons to my DreamGate
classes (yes a little plug) but there are big events in this
area all around. We're able to contribute to this collective
event and continue on a regular basis due to the
contributions of Linda Magallon. (Please add an accent mark
over the "o" on Magallon). Linda will be putting out a
regular pulse for us from the Dream Psi Watchtower. You can
participate in experiments each month and hone your psychic
skills. This month Linda is offering a clairvoyant dream
experiment. See if you can dream about the *place* she is
offering as a target and send in your results!
(Also, be sure to visit the new dream psi archive
bibliography and reference page she has put up for us!)

Another project that has just come online is the lucid
dreamers mail list. This club, recently named The Oneiro-Network
can be joined by signing up to the mail list. See NEW WEB SITES in the Global Dreaming
News for more or send to majordomo@igc.apc.org and in the body of the e-mail put
info dreamgroup-c

Victoria Quinton has been conducting Cyber-interviews again
and you can find out more about the history of Donna Campos
and DreamStudio as it has unfolded on CompuServe. The Dream
Airing Column also brings questions and comments from
dreamers around the world.

And speaking of history - be sure to check out the
alt.dreams (first dream newsgroup online) history that John
Herbert has provided.

The DreamWheel DreamGroups are going strong and we are
experimenting this month with having one main group and then
several smaller groups. The large group still follows the
usual process we have been using, but the individual groups
are allowed more freedom to share dreams however they decide
and wish. If you want to join on of these groups later in the
month, contact Chris Hicks at his *new* e-mail address

If you just can wait for the next dreamgroup to get attention
for your dreams, Earl Koteen is offering guidance and you can
read about his mentoring program below.

Have you visited our newly upgraded, highly sophisticated, on
the edge of cyber-graphics Home Page? Matthew Parry has
been using a frame style presentation and if you haven't seen
an edition of Electric Dreams at the site with graphics from
Jesse Reklaw and Deryck Anderson, you are missing a real
treat!

And speaking of graphics, Jesse offers us a great collection
this month at Slow Wave and Deryck has provided us with a
cover for this October issue. For those who like to print
Electric Dreams, you can now easily add a color cover by
downloading right from the Electric Dreams web site. And if
you missed a cover, you can go to the Electric Dreams Back-
issue Cover Gallery and pick one up! (See Access Information
at the end of the issue).

Sorry about the missing dreams last month, we didn't get them
organized in time for the last issue. I've been setting up a
new mailing system for distribution, so the supplement didn't
come out either. We are including them below and they extend
the Significant Dreams theme from last month. Also included
below them are Halloween Dreams! Please be sure to read Bob
Krumhansl's editorial and notes in the DREAMS section.

Be an Electric Dreamer

Electric Dreams continues to offer a wide variety of free
dreamsharing venues and this means we log a lot of online
time. It is fun and we do this because we love it! But
sometimes we can't keep up with all the networking tasks and
then the quality is diminished in our programs.
And not everyone has the time to be a staff member
(though if you *do* have the time and desire, drop me a
line!).

And so we would like to ask for ELECTRIC DREAMERS -
volunteers who can give just a few minutes every week or even
once a month. Here are some of the ED areas that Electric
Dreamers might help in:

- Co-Moderate a dream group.
- Post a few dreams to a few Newsgroups or Mail lists.
- Post an ad regularly to a Newsgroup you will "sponsor".
- Post an ad to a mail list you will "sponsor".
- Post an ad to a SIG at your commercial online carrier.
- Surf the net for new dream web sites.
- Surf Educational college sites for dream bibliographies
- Send in addresses of magazine departments that might like
to carry a story about dream sharing in cyberspace
- Send in local resources on dreams - groups, schools,
lectures, library resources, newsletters and new age papers.
- Check you Yellow Pages for schools and ask what programs or
classes on dreams and dreaming dreams are available.
- Many other projects available!

Because these tasks are a little tedious at times (though
usually fun) we are offering a FREE HOME PAGE for anyone who

Mentoring: A Helping Hand with Dream Interpretation

Hi, this is Earl Koteen, AKA Narcissus. You may have seen some of my interpretations in
ED. I also teach dream interpretation here in the Washington, DC, area.

When I first started interpreting dreams on the net, I found the process rather strange
because it lacked the immediacy and feedback of face-to-face communication. I frequently
had to guess whether I was on the right track. However, I was blessed with a mentor who
helped me sharpen my skills by critiquing my interpretations. Now I'd like to return the
favor by helping others.

If you'd like some assistance w/ dream interpretation or just a second opinion, just drop me

There were four Slow Waves for the month of October, 1996.
They can be viewed together on the

October 5, 1996. "Ceramic Teeth" by Robin King. Robin was
encouraged to submit a dream by a co-worker who has been a
Slow Wave dream author. My dream archive contains several
dreams about broken teeth, and that's partly why I chose to
illustrate Robin's dream. I think people find it intriguing
when they discover others have had dreams similar their own.
I also appreciated the twist that her teeth were ceramic and
she didn't mind breaking them--almost like she was toying
with what can be a loss of power to some people.

October 12, 1996. "Contact Lenses the Size of Paper Plates"
by Emily Bick. Emily is a mail correspondent of mine and I
find her dreams to be original and humorous. Having struggled
with contact lenses myself, I found this dream particularly
amusing.

October 19, 1996. "Phone Booth at the Bottom of the Lake" by
Nick Munford. Nick submitted his dream at the San Diego Comic
Convention this summer. He stated that it was a recurring
childhood dream. The dream seems to me to be a twist on the
hero's adventure myth. What struck me most when illustrating
it was that he kept mentioning his baggage and how
unmanageable it was throughout the dream.

October 26, 1996. "George Bush Drives the Bus" by Scott
Bartell. Scott is an old high school pal of mine. I found his
portrayal of George Bush hilarious. Plus the strip is
somewhat timely--with the elections coming up and all. Dreams
about celebrities always fascinate me, as they hint at what
the collective unconscious is thinking about.

Software Developers?

In my quick scan of the zine, I didn't find the thing I've been thinking about for awhile, and
that is SOFTWARE that would keep track of dream images and previous associations and
conglomerate them into a logical and useful pattern for the dreamer.

1) Daily I'm getting dreams about sex with some reality kind of things happening? why is it
so, and what is the solution for this?
2) Some times I will get the dreams like some one is chasing me and trying to kill or bash
me , Why is it, and what is the solution for this.

I'll look those up.

What I'm focusing on here is the Jungian contribution. Some
references where *Jung* or Jungians actually pre-ask a
question of a dream before going to sleep - (much like Reed
and Delaney's techniques.) I'm trying to place the evolution
of this technique in modern dreamwork.

Kerin Forsyth and I (Lucy Gillis) met at a recent Consciously
Creating Change workshop hosted by the Seth Network
International. In meeting with others and discussing
"Seth-related" experiences we found that everyone has some
story to tell, some personal flash of insight, some
extraordinary experience that has impressed upon their lives,
that they want to share with others. Yet, often, there was
too little time to hear everyone's story. It was then that
we decided to put together a book - a compilation of
people's experiences so that we could all express ourselves,
share, and learn from each other.

So now, we are currently seeking contributions in the forms
of essays, stories, poetry, etc. Any type of "Seth-related"
experience is welcome: dreams/OBE/projection experiences,
spontaneous healing or reality creation due to belief work,
synchronicity, precognition, etc., etc.

secret target. Submit a dream and get feedback on how well
you did.

How to participate:

* Just before sleep, take time to settle your mind and clear
it of daily concerns.

* Concentrate on the target phrase: "I dream the Flying
Carpet."


* Fall asleep, confident that the Flying Carpet will attract
the attention of your dreaming mind.

About the target:

The Flying Carpet is a landscape mural. Because it has been

* "Lucky" has dreamt of the lovely green meadow on the left

The following are excerpts from a longer interview conducted
by Kathleen Sullivan with Jill Mellick, author of "The
Natural Artistry of Dreams"
, a creative approach to
dreamworking, which presents and utilizes a variety of
non-analytical means of connecting with the dream and with
our natural creativity. Kathleen Sullivan is a dreamworker in
the Monterey Bay area of California, and the host of a weekly
radio show on dreams, "Dreams, Another Way of Knowing".
Electric Dreams wishes to thank Ms. Mellick and Ms. Sullivan
for their permission to share portions of this interview with
our readers.


KS: This evening, we are delighted to be interviewing Jill
Mellick, who has written a remarkable book called "The
Natural Artistry of Dreams"
. Jill comes at the dream from a
multi-faceted perspective and opens up your innate abilities
as an artist as you engage with an art form called The Dream.
Thank you, Jill, for giving us the time tonight to be with
us.

JM: I'm delighted to be here with a group who share the same
sorts of enthusiasms and beliefs I do.

KS: I'm going to start by introducing my audience to you
through your writing, Jill. Let me do a little quoting now
from your book, so our audience can have a sense of who you
are as a writer:

"Dreams prove us creative artists, natural poets, capable of
simile, metaphor, symbol and shear imagery unbound by the
cognitive restrictions of waking life. Dreams prove us
painters, sculptors, superb storytellers and mythmakers.
Dream images are sketched in fugitive ink, however. We do not
reexperience them immediately; they fade to invisibility on
the fast-turning pages of waking consciousness. In the ocean
of the unconscious, dreams are swells that rise and pause and
break on the shores of personal consciousness, leaving
precious flotsam and jetsam on the beach of waking awareness.
We cannot influence the tides and the currents, but we can
ride the crest of the waves into shore and gather the
treasures to us, as we walk at dawn. We cannot make a
contract with our dreams, and dreams do not make contracts
with us. Dreams promise nothing. They don't give answers.
They don't even promise us their remembered presence. We can,
however, make a covenant with our dreams. Dreams ask
trustworthy questions. Questions from our deepest selves;
perhaps deeper. We can choose to have a passing acquaintance,
or a deep, long friendship with them. We can promise them we
shall be with them, sing them, dance them, laugh them, weep
for them, draw them. If we are willing to make this covenant,
we can then receive what comes from our dreams as unbidden
gifts. Two separate, trusting people, in a loving, conscious
relationship cannot demand reciprocity, they can only offer
each other the possibility of being together in ways that
allow their best selves to fly accompanied into the unknown,
often moonless sky, sustained by quiet air currents of
acceptance. Like lovers, all we can do is promise to be
there for our dreams, with heart, soul, intellect, body and
discernment. If we can let go of demanding, we can begin to
learn the dreams language of love.

KS: Id like to give you an opportunity to add to that from
your perspective today anything new that may have been
generated since you wrote this, or anything that struck you
as you heard your writing.

JM: I think its been a deepening, Kathleen. I said that out
of my own lived experience with dreams and in working with
people here in this office. Every week people walk in here
with their dreams, and I am stunned at the wisdom of the
dreams. People will bring in something they had ten years ago
and say "
here it was!" I wouldn't say that what I said there
I can always hold as a constant, and when its not staying a
constant for me, inevitably someone will walk into my office
that day with something that shows that they are carrying
that constancy in them. So the presence of that kind of
fidelity that I'm talking about is there in the room even
when I'm thinking "
oh, those were some pretty banal images I
had in my dreams last night". Suddenly Ill find that image
appearing in someone else's dream that day, and Ill realize I
was wrong again. There's this wonderful sense of comeuppance
from my own unconscious! So I think it is a deepening, rather
than something I would add to.

KS: An awesomeness of the form isn't it incredible what
this process allows us; invites us to do demands of us.
Isn't it amazing that there is this inner working that's
going on 2-1/2 hours every night out of our consciousness
that can so profoundly and so dramatically affect our lives
if we enter into relationship with it.

JM: I would venture to say that it profoundly affects our
lives even when we DON'T. But we don't get as much conscious
choice about how we work with that. We are not the partners
I'm talking about. If we choose to ignore it, it can
sometimes have an influence in our lives in a very different
way.


KS: You say here that "
Dreams promise nothing. They don't
give answers. They don't even promise us their remembered
presence" We've commented tonight on the importance of the
message which the dream brings. Is that paradoxical to the
relationship, or is it when we enter into relationship, then
we get the answers?

JM: My sense is that they're not promising anything in the
waking world. When I say "
dreams promise us nothing", I mean
that were often bringing our waking consciousness to our
dreams and wanting something from them, in the way that we
want our partner or our child to behave in a certain way.
Dreams are coming from their own culture; their own world;
their own awareness. It offers us something, but it wont
promise us something, that fits our particular template of
what we have a need for. Its like an augury. When you read an
augury, its never clear. It doesn't say "
go left", but it
might say "
its better to take one direction than two", but it
wont tell you which one! So that's what I mean when I say
they're not promising us anything they're not promising
anything in the waking world. I was really taking an extreme
statement there by trying to free us up from the danger of
co-opting the dream into the service of our ego world.

KS: No question, and I would make the statement that people
who are reading dreams literally and interpreting them
without benefit of symbol or metaphor are working in service
of the ego, the old script; the original myth. They are
staying stuck, rather than, as I hear you describing it,
going into a relationship with the dream which presents a
broader perspective unavailable to my conscious ego self, and
which has very different goals from the person who went to
sleep last night having this image of the world or self. My
sense is that we are always being presented with models, more
than images, of how we can be, as Jean Houston refers to us,
as "
the possible human". And that these models come but if we
don't work with them, don't move into partnership with them
these fabulous diamonds sit, almost wasted.

JM: Yes, a very tragic waste. I think you would agree with
me though that there is no guarantee that even if the dreamer
had worked with the dream at that time that he or she would
have come into partnership with it, and not in the way that
we can twenty years later. That's where the covenant part
comes in. We can only be with the dream; it doesn't guarantee
us that automatic wisdom, but the act of being with it allows
us to stay in relationship with something larger. For some
reason, before you came this morning, I was wandering around
with the word "
wonder" in my mind. Playing with the two sides
of that "
I wander about" and holding a sense of "wonder" at
the same time. For me, that's enough sometimes. If I can
wonder about the dream which is the same as wandering about
or around the dream, its keeping something vivified between
me and my unconscious, between me and the collective
unconscious of our larger society. At some point that will
synchronize or come into synergy with the outer world, so
that twenty years later I will open up, because Ill hear
somebody talking, perhaps using an image in a speech and
suddenly it becomes vivified and I will get a flash of that
dream. Something was opened up in me at that time; an
aperture, simply by my being willing to be with the dream in
a state of wonder. Not necessarily in a state of wisdom.

KS: I like that! And I so frequently have that experience of
being in conversation with somebody and having a flash of a
dream from long ago, and knowing that somehow that is
enormously important because I took the dream twenty years
ago, played with it; kept it alive; kept it in front of me.

JM: Exactly. Sustain the energy and the mystery of it,
without pinning it. If you take a butterfly and you pin it
down and describe it all, you've got the butterfly, but it
will never fly again. My intent in working with the creative
arts with the dream is to allow that butterfly to continue to
fly.

KS: Keeping the vital energies moving, rather than turning
the dream into a dead language for scholars to look
believing that I know what that means, and, worse yet, that I
know what that one means for you. I'm thinking again about
the wondering and the wandering about and playing with a
dream so that the images are alive, so that were intrigued
by; energized by; irritated by the dream. Its as if there is
a road that's open between me and my future and when I walk
into that part of my future where the dream is going to turn
from wonder into wisdom, then it pops back up.

JM: Oh yes! And that's what I call "
comeuppance" to my
cynicism or skepticism. It just keeps happening.

KS: And that's why doing dreamwork for an atheist is still a
spiritual experience. It has that transpersonal,
beyond-the-self, beyond-the-ego charge to it that is such an
exciting, meaningful way to live and be. Lets move into
dreams as art forms. Id like to have you, first of all,
address the significance and importance and value of theory
in understanding the dream. In my own case, I've been very
activated by Jung's theories, and Hillman's take on Jung's
work which you presented very well in that the dream is not
to be used to serve the ego; not to be used as a lottery
ticket; as a psychic tarot card reading, but that the dream
has its own agenda. Now these are all theories. We cant talk
without these theories, and I cant teach people how to begin
to approach their dreams and keep them alive unless they have
a connection to them, which comes to a great extent at least
being intrigued by the symbol and being willing to wonder,
wander and play with it, and begin to make guesses as to what
this is. For that we need theory. In several places in the
book, you make strong assertions that you don't want people
to get locked into a theoretical, analytical perspective with
their dreams. On the other hand, we do need theory. So speak
about this conundrum, paradox, interweaving that has to
happen left brain/right brain/unconscious/creative.


JM: My sense is that theory is a story, except that the
protagonists are concepts. I happen to find that Jung's and
Hillman's stories about dream life work for me because they
enable me to stay with the dream; they give me ways to ask
questions to stay in deep relationship with my dream world.
What I like about Jung is he felt that we must be ready at
any stage to construct an entirely new theory of dreams. Its
that kind of freezing theory, using theory as a template;
using the theory as a story that doesn't allow for revisions.
For instance, when I'm working with people who have a theme
in their lives, of, perhaps, competition, if they could only
see their world through that one storyline, then everything
that happens to them is fitted into that template. That, to
me, is not allowing the material to inform us. That's the
risk we take when we get into theory. The other thing is that
we live in a fast food society, and we like answers. Its very
convenient to say "
oh! She's blonde and has brown eyes in the
dream, therefore she is my shadow." Its a way to dismiss
something by naming it. Instead of "
I wonder if this has
something to do with Shadow; I wonder if I consented to the
gestalt of the figure in the dream; I wonder how I might be
with this----", then the theory becomes a jumping point; a
place of expanding rather than wrapping it up. Its a
paradoxical place to be, where we move between maps and
exploring unmapped material. So that I might say "
Well, I've
never been in this valley before, but I've been in other
valleys. And Jung says that valleys can mean this kind of
thing I wonder if this means that to me, or does it have
something else to tell me."

KS: In addition, there's a sense of a need we have as human
beings to have a multi-faceted way of approaching things, and
we tend to get locked into one repeated pattern. One of the
reasons I love your book is that you give such a
multi-dimensional approach to working with dream material.
Your book is a great permission-giver in terms of actual
process.

JM: When we work with our dreams, were a little like trapeze
artists, and we need a net underneath. Id like to think of
the exercises I've created in the book as "
the net" they
give us a place to bounce off. My hope would be if I've led
people through the exercise successfully the exercise will be
irrelevant because they will have started their own creative
process. I don't want my exercises to become exactly what I'm
talking about; another way to define the dream. I want to
provide enough foundation so people can springboard off of
it.

KS: As an artist, you are interested in having people work
with the image in its raw form; not just sitting down with a
dream dictionary and trying to determine its meaning.

JM: Yes, and also, to allow the other sense channels to have
a say as well. The concept of synesthesia is very possible a
mixing of the senses. To taste a sensation; to image a taste.
My grandfather used to say, when he'd get a meal in front of
him, "
Be quiet, I'm listening to the taste." And to me,
dreams do that; they have that capacity to simply mix the
senses. We have to find a way to open up to that language
that goes beyond storytelling. When we simply speak about the
dream; when I try to tell you about my dream this morning,
I'm still going to get caught in that Western hole to tell a
story with a beginning, middle and end. I will probably say
"
and then", or "the scene changes" or "it stops there" and
there'll be a note of apology in my voice because it didn't
have an end. I mention in the book that there was a very well
known writing teacher, who shall remain nameless, who asked
his students to bring in their dreams. They had to write them
out, and read them out in class, and he critiqued them from
the point of view of whether or not they were "
good" or "bad"
stories. That, to me, epitomizes what I prefer not to do with
dreams. Dreams are more than stories; more than the
conventional Western story line that really only came into
being with determinism in the 19th century. Until then,
stories were freer and more fluid things where your point of
view could change; the time frame could change. But from the
19th century on, with fiction, we became bound by the Western
form of the story, whereas the arts and other cultures ways
of telling stories are not bound by those things; the dream
is not bound by those things. So if I have a dream feeling or
a dream image, I can express that in a non-linear way that's
not bound by beginning, middle, end; by causality; by
steadiness of viewpoint. If I paint it or take the clay and
breathe my experience of the dream into it, the clay can hold
that form of the dream that goes beyond those constrictions.

KS: You've presented a whole lot of freeing ways to approach
the dream in your book. One of the complaints I hear the most
from dreamers I my groups is that "
I didn't have a dream; I
only had a snippet." In fact, we can work for hours on that
snippet. A single sentence; an incomplete phrase is often
more profound than a dream that is written in a linear
fashion and overs many pages.

JM: Absolutely. One of the suggestions that I make for people
to begin to appreciate the depth of those images, is to
simply take one of those images, such a visual image, and to
imagine that it is a six foot by six foot painting in a well
known gallery, on exhibit all by itself. If its just a hairy
arm, and that's you see, imagine what its like to have a
modern painter paint that arm six foot by six foot. What does
it say to you? What does it evoke in you? Its a way of
shifting your perspective. If you just get a word, like
"
experience" and you tell yourself that wasn't a dream, if
you imagine that there is the most respected actor in the
world standing on stage and saying that word to two thousand
people, what's it going to do to you? So its a way to shift
our relationship, again, to what were saying instead of just
dismissing it.

KS: In fact, one of the most prominent forms of dream abuse
is judging the dream. Saying a dream is "
bad" because ---.
People new to dream groups almost invariably do that because
we come from a very judgmental culture.

JM: And guilty, too. We have affairs in our night life and
we feel terribly guilty when we wake up.
KS: Its amazing to watch people move into dream work for the
first time and to see how the inculturation of the individual
is what determines the understanding of the dream, without
any concern for protecting what the dream image is.

JM: That's where I find it very helpful to remind myself that
to enter into the dream world is to enter into a different
culture. To lay my values or my morality on the dream world
is a form of spiritual colonialism. I have to tell myself
that this is a culture that I don't understand. When you
work with dreams over a long period of time you become like
an anthropologist spending a long time in one culture, and
you gradually come to understand the rules, the ethics, the
energy of the dreams.

KS: What do you do, Jill, with psychological tests that
purport to determine whether or not an individual is
creative?

JM: Well, that's a little like commenting about a horse
after its out of the gate! When I work with people, I don't
have to question whether or not they are creative, because it
is so obvious that they are. I do have to ask myself, and
invite them to ask themselves, what their perception of
creativity is.

KS: And whether they're willing to exercise their creative
muscles. I think most of us in this very judgmental culture
in which We've been raised are afraid of our creativity for a
lot of reasons.

JM: Well, it gets co-opted in the service of product. Most
of the people I know who have difficulty with their
creativity were told somewhere along the line that "
that
doesn't look like a tree", and then, given that the product
was not what somebody else expected, they conclude they have
no creativity. Whereas my sense is that this is not about
product its not about "
art for arts sake", its about "art
for the souls sake". A dream is art for the souls sake. I
find myself much more aligned with and helped by the Pueblo
Indian culture there's a beautiful word in the Tewa Indian
language called "
po-wa-ha". These people are so creative so
many artists, sculptors and potters and weavers - and there
is no word for "
art" in their culture. The closest word for
"
art" in their language, "po-wa-ha", kind of means
"
creativity", but the literal translation is
"
water-wind-breath", and it is the spirit that moves through
everything. It is the process of creation that is within each
of us, so they value the process as the thing which is
priceless, not the product. That's why I've paid so much
attention to presenting so many art forms in my book from
myth to drama to ritual to painting to haiku to sculpture;
all of this because its not about us being able to produce a
good dance or a good painting its about us being with
"
po-wa-ha", that spirit of creativity that is the language of
the soul. Its a cycle creativity/soul/dream they're all
tied together.

KS: Dreams evoke so much in us, as does any art form. What
does it mean to say that dreams evoke something in us?

JM: Being an old English major, I immediately went back to
the meaning of the word "
evoke", which comes from "vocare",
"
to call", or to call out. That's what I experience. I would
hope that I could be there with a dreamer to call out what is
there; not to call it or name it, but to call it out.

KS: Would you agree that is the job of the dream to evoke
from us?

JM: I don't know if that's the job of the dream, but it
certainly seems to do that a lot. It lays down new energetic
pathways.

KS: Well heres an interesting question raised by Clairessa
Pinkola Estes why is it that so often when people tell a
dream they begin to cry?

JM: Well, I wonder if we can go back to the idea of that
which is evoked; that it is the call of the soul, and when
we speak the dream; when we re-embody the dream with words we
resonate with the truth that is coming from our soul, even
when we don't understand. It goes beyond cognition; beyond
reason, into the felt sense of the dream.

KS: Jill, our time has run out, and were so delighted to
have spent time with you. Perhaps we can "
evoke" your
willingness to do this again sometime! Thank you, and thank
you for your wonderful work.

VQ: How long have you been dealing with dreams in
cyberspace?

Donna Campos: I've been 'out here' about two years now. I
travel a fair amount, making it difficult to have dreamwork
be a regularly scheduled part of my life.

VQ: Do you think the travel affects your dreams?

DC: Hey -- I love this question; it's been haunting me for
days now.

I spent last week in NYC and stayed at a hotel on Times
Square. I hosted the Dream Studio from there and it inspired
everybody to begin an attempt to meet each other in our
dreams in Times Square. Somehow that also evolved into a
decision to try to meet disguised as animals. (Feel welcome
to look for me
-- I'm the llama with the long eyelashes and the bad
attitude) So. . . . yep, it affects my dreams.

When I travel for fun the sleeping part of the trip is a part
of the adventure. The hotel room/cabin/strange house/
tent/cabana/pension/RV is different and exotic. Whether the
bed is too soft, too hard or just right -- I tend to be
hyper-aware of my surroundings and wake up a lot. I also
tend to sleep later in the morning. And all these things
conspire to improve my dream recall.

When I travel for business, however, I usually get
short-changed on sleep. It's hectic with long days full of
packing, rushing to the airport, catching a cab, checking
into a hotel, working into the night, and late dinners of
large-portioned restaurant food. All these things conspire
to make me want to cocoon at night -- just pull a blanket
around me, sleep soundly and tune everything out. Dream
recall dwindles.

For work this year I've traveled across the country twice in
a motor home.
RV travel has really captured my dreaming imagination; I've
remembered close to 100 RV or bus dreams in the past year.


And there really wasn't any dream groups meeting near my
home anyway. So I logged on specifically to explore what was
available on dreams in cyberspace.

VQ: Had you dealt much with dreams, either your own or
those of others before being involved with them in
cyberspace?

DC: Sure. I had vivid recall as a kid. Had my first lucid
dreams (inspired by Carlos Castaneda) in my late teens. In my
late 20s I started to take my interest in dreams seriously,
keeping a detailed journal, reading everything I could on the
subject. I also had the good fortune at the time of living
down the street from dreamworker Jill Gregory of the Novato
Center for Dreams
-- so I took classes from her. And all along, of course,
friends and family would share their dreams with me.

It was wonderful! Suddenly, the world seemed full of
dreamers -- all of
them with something to share.


VQ: Was your contact with them mainly via e-mail or by
other means?

DC: There's a Dreaming Section bulletin board over on
Compuserve in the New Age B Forum and that was initially my
first contact with online dreamers. I still spend a lot of
time there. (This is gonna sound like a plug but it's
important, I think.) The bulletin boards on Compuserve are
great in that they let you know when someone's responded to
your post. It's a little thing but it really helps keep
bulletin board conversations going, keeps them vital and
interesting. It's one of the things that make that corner of
cyberspace feel like a neighborhood.

This is straying from the subject, Victoria, but I think it's
interesting; the New Age Forum has 'produced' half a dozen
marriages so far. A big camping trip is planned for next
week. There's a big campground called "
Hell" in Michigan and
everyone wanted to go there but no luck -- apparently Hell is
full.

About a year later, I started the Dream Studio.


VQ: Did you have a dream that spurred you to
start the Dream Studio?

No, not a specific dream. But, you know, dreams are always
rich in the call to creative, courageous responses to life.

Have you a "
first book to read" suggestion for those starting
out working with their dreams.

DC: People ask me that all the time. What I suggest (and
what works best for me) is to simply go to a bookstore or
library and see what dream book 'falls off the shelf' at you.


Where would you direct people to start with "
dreams in
cyberspace"?

DC: Electric Dreams without a doubt.

I suggested it. The idea came from surrealism: to provide a
window onto what we all really feel about the present age by
revealing thought processes that can't be censored as easily
as conscious ones. It hasn't done that as well as I hoped
(too much paranormal crap) but I'm reasonably happy with the
result.

I don't know who actually posted the newgroup message; I'd
like to know if you find out.

Dear Jack - Thank you for responding. I stumbled on Newsnet
while compiling a directory of conferences available to
PeaceNet. I do not yet know who does what or who monitors
what it posted. I am a student at Saybrook Institute in San
Francisco in a doctoral program in psychology and am
interested in finding out how effective computer
conferencing can be in working with dreams. I conduct dream
groups using the Ullman-Zimmerman method, and am currently
doing a study on comparing responses from a face-to-face
dream group process with responses posted on alt.dreams.

Would you mind a few more questions? Approximately when did
you start alt.dreams? Did you have a core group or did you
just start it up alone? Did it ever function as a meeting
place following your original intent, or was it always as
scattered as now? Have you ever structured a closed
conference working with dreams? Are you actively working
with your or others' dreams?

I would appreciate any comments you could share. I am trying
to structure my essays and dissertation within a
dreams/computer framework, if possible. I am not in
clinical practice - the U-Z method is a people-people
process, not a therapist-client process, although many
therapeutic results follow working with dreams, if you use
the knowledge presented.

Never heard of this. Might be worth posting a referenced
introduction to it to the group.

About a year ago.

I followed the usual procedure for an "
alt" group: I posted
note to alt.config and other relevant groups (sci.psychology,
rec.arts.misc, and talk.politics.misc, I think) asking if
anyone else was interested in the idea. When enough people
had followed up saying that they were, someone went ahead and
sent out a creation message.

I had to post a followup to my original note, as one quite
intelligent person had misread it - he thought my intentions
were subsumable under sci.psychology, but I always regarded
the artistic and political aspects of dreaming as more
important. I did mention surrealism in the original note,
but most people didn't know enough about it to decode my
reference. I was very explicit about wanting minimal
discussion or interpretation, but people had a hard time
seeing why.

There's a book called "
The Third Reich of Dreams" you might
have seen; I intended this group to provide the same sort of
insights into our time.

I expected something "
scattered", as you put it. I've been
on the net for a very long time and have a fair idea of how
its sociology works. I had expected rather more raw material
than has actually emerged.

mind. eeeek! And then you wake up. It was a nightmare and now
you really would like to talk to someone. Who to Call?

Anthony Dubetz, author of EASY DREAMS has a special phone
line just for you! the Dream Hot line in Chicago (312) 589-
2471 has been helping those puzzled by dreams for several
years.

the Main thing is what your think about your dream", he
says, "
That is, what you must eliminate the next day."
Overused parts of the personality leave other parts
neglected. "
Maybe your dream is actually telling you that
you've reached a burn-out level in your personality. the
dream might be getting a little scarier every day - it may be
shouting at you."

RCW: When people call up the Hot-Line, what can they expect?

TD: If they ask for an opinion about a dream, I would offer
one as if the dream were my own. (such as) "
The dream you
introduced the hot-line interview with tells me to avoid
trapping myself or others."

RCW: Freudian dream interpretation is about the reduction of
neurosis. Jung's work is about wholeness and healing.
Ullman's techniques lead to insight and empowerment. How
would you characterize your process?

TD: Learning to share the cosmos with dreams.

RCW: In classical therapy there is often nothing said about
the dream, the client is just allowed or encouraged to free
associate. When I talk with psychics, they tell me *all* the
meaning in the dream.
Where does your process fall in this scale and what do you
feel the teacher's role is in empowering the dreamer to find
his or her own meanings.

TD: The teacher can recognize what the dreamer knows and
encourage that knowledge, for it is empowerment, and there is
a place 90 degrees to the left or right of the dream's
location which is the place my process falls.

RCW: You talk about not getting identified with the dream
image, can you say a little more about this?

TD: Like ghost images on our T.V. sets, dream images are not
the substantial part of us but will o' the wisps. Why not
invest in the substantial self which experiences the dream?

RCW: What experiences led you to your ideas and practice?

TD: Precognition and *deja vu*.

RCW: Our society has had both a general disregard and fear of
dreams. Mom says "
It's just a dream," and yet we are afraid
of what the dream will reveal about us to a psychiatrist. do
you see any changes in this attitude in the las couple of
decades?

TD: I've seen the shedding of "
just a dream" attitude and
fear of dreams turn into respect for dreams.

harry Hunt and others have demonstrated that dreams are
important, perhaps essential, to cognitive theory. Can the
understanding of science be of value to dreamwork?

TD: Yes, it has given me encouragement when there was no
other, especially science on missing matter. It helped me to
understand existence as light, black and white, ever changing
and no light, both co-eternities.

RCW: It has been about a hundred years now since Freud's
Interpretation of Dreams; do you think dreamwork in the next
century will be significantly different than the 20th
Century?

TD: Yes, and due in part to your efforts as well as your
mentors, inevitably.

of the West of England in Bristol , UK. who is completing my
Ph.D. I am investigating the dreams of abstinent alcoholics.
I particularly need information about studies, papers and

alcoholics and drug misusers dreams. I would also like people

I have been collecting dreams involving bright light for
about a year now -looking at their common characteristics,
how the dreamers view them, and any changes that may be
noticed following the dream. There are some very intriguing
common characteristics, in some cases almost reminiscent of
the NDE reports of being suffused with light - and receiving
a charge from the light. Although it is easy to jump on the
spiritual bandwagon with these dreams, I am trying to look at
them from a phenomenological perspective. I think people
might enjoy hearing something about this work, and I can
provide a URL where people may send in their dreams of light,
if they have any.

Significant Dreams Supplement
DREAMS SECTION EDITORIAL BY BOB K.

Welcome to the Dreams Section for ED Volume 3 Number 8. In
an unusual development, this section is coming to your email
boxes as a separate attachment- displaced in time by a couple
weeks - from the Articles and News sections. (Sort of like
a dream-time sequence thing.) We didn t plan it this way in
advance, but we appreciate your patience and understanding.
We hope you enjoy Septembers dream harvest.

The focus topic for this month was Significant Dreams. Well,
what are Significant Dreams? We thought we might get a
sampling from our readers of dreams which had some important
impact in their lives. We thank those who did send in
dreams, and shared examples of the impact of dreams in their
lives.

The volume of submission was far less than we expected.
Perhaps the intimate nature of some of these dreams, their
emotional intensity or bizarre imagery make us shy about
sharing them with the world at large or even a community like
that in Electric Dreams. Maybe over time we will see some of
these shared with our readers in the natural course of
EDreams evolution.

The subject of dream significance is highly subjective. At
different stages of our lives, events take on differing
significance. Specific issues that are important as children
are not the same as when we are teens, adults or elderly.
Across societies, specific issues of importance can vary. In
keeping with a developmental perspective, I have grouped the
dreams submitted this month -identified as significant or
not- into a life cycle type of categorization, which is where
those significant dreams would tend to be.

What structure? Well the structure following the biological
milestones we experience in our society: BIRTH, GROWTH
(CHILDHOOD, ADOLESCENCE, ADULTHOOD, OLD AGE), DEATH. Along
with these stages are the social milestones along the
way,including: FAMILY, FRIENDSHIP (including PETS),
EDUCATION, LOVE, WORK, CAREER, ENTERTAINMENT, HOBBIES,
MARRIAGE, and SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT. All the EMOTIONS from
SADNESS through HAPPINESS, and ROLES as OBSERVER or
PARTICIPANT through the JOURNEYS (APPROACHING or ESCAPING)of
our daily lives help develop the meaning of the dream.

Talking about structure, I m still experimenting with the
organization. I ve included PRECOGNITIVE and REPETITIVE
dreams (significant by nature)at the beginning of the new
dreams section. I have also tried to comment on the section
headings and some dreams.

And now for your entertainment, education and dream

FEEDBACK FROM THE DREAMERS

I wanted to thank you for your brief comments on my recent
dream, NO SUN. At first I took your comments, thinking,
(typically) yeah I know that, but as a little time passed new
doors opened. Your comments gave me a new perspective as well
as added incentive to 'meditate' a bit further to really
experience the dream again.

I thought that the dream specifically related to my recent
research into Mayan mythology. But, it suddenly it hit me
that the dream is related to the TWA 800 crash--occurring
before the actual accident. The real and possible loss of
dear ones.

Sitting in that shed, where everything was dark and seemingly
inert, while looking out the door to the bright, colorful and
life filled outdoors. It seems that that I need to gather
courage to stand up and walk through those doors to
participate in life and not just sit back, in a dark shelter,
and view it. I know now that though I love not only
witnessing, but helping my only son to grow up, I also fear
his inevitable independence and possible rejection of me as
he does. As a result I savor the loving and private moments
that we share now. I need to move forward into life without
fear.

Thank you again, you helped me to experience the dream and
its vision.

Bob, thank you very much for the help on the dreams. I really
appreciate you talking to me. This has been very hard on me,
breaking up with John, and every thing in my life, I work
out in my dreams. They are such a powerful tool for me. I
experience such feeling and emotions in them it is
unbelievable. Talking to you seems to be a outlet for me, so
I hope you don't mind me sending you a few more recent
dreams to talk about. I don't have family around where I
live, just me and my 10 year old daughter. - VickyT

PRECOGNITIVE/FUTURE DREAMS

*** Dream: Meditation Dream by J.D. (960909)***

I have been having this dream in which I am meditating in a
calm, pleasant spot in the woods. What seems odd is that
during the meditation, I begin to get visions of the future.
In particular, I see things that will happen over the next
five years. (For instance, I saw a comet coming near the
earth in the year 1996)

Now, I do not know if this is just my imagination running
wild, or if I should take the dreams (visions) seriously.
I would appreciate feedback on this.

===Commentary on TORNADO Dreams by VickyT ===

A little over three years ago, my 15 year old son, who now
lives with his father in Denver, was critically injured. He
lived with me at the time. He had long hospital stays, and
in and out of the hospital a lot. When ever he got sick
again and had to go back to the hospital, I would have a
tornado dream. It got to the point every time I had one, I
knew in a few days or so that josh would be going back to
the hospital, and he did, even though he didn't know this.
So these dreams are really a predictor for me, and that is
why I feel that a lot of them are precognitive dreams. I also
at one point was having dreams that he was dying, and I
wasn't at the hospital, and I needed to get there to say
good bye. It was so powerful and real. And sure enough he
got real sick, and almost died again. But with the power of
prayer and god's will he made it through and is OK today,
with possible life long medical problems. My dreams are so
very important to me, it is hard to explain. I keep a dream
journal, and have since 1988, but taking some times off every
now and then.

Thank you very much for talking to me, and if it is OK, with
you, please give me some more feed back on these three

REPETITIVE DREAMS


Dreams...by Suz .(960928)

I just wanted to plunge into this list and share a couple of
recurring dreams that I have 2-4 times a year:

***Dream: FLYING by Suz (recurring) ***

One dream occurs in various locales and usually I am with
various friends. What I do during the dream that is
consistent is that I'll flap my arms vigorously until I get
about 10 feet in the air, and then I can glide/hover along
my friends as they walk to some destination of some sort.

This type of dreaming is making it difficult to practice
lucid dreaming since during the process of being able to
"fly" in my dream, I truly believe that I have developed
this special ability and there's nothing to tell me that
this is a dream! Even sometimes after I immediately wake up,
sometimes and believe I can still do it! ;-)

***Dream: ESCAPING by Suz (recurring)***

Here's another dream that I have variations on: I am escaping
some xxx organization with a secret document (usually in a
manila folder), and am running from bullets and once my
friends showed up with a helicopter with a rope ladder and I
escaped. Many variations on this, but I always feel I am in
control and will not be killed and laugh along the way. Very
fun adventure type dreams.

Of course, not all my dreams are as fun as these two, but I
just wanted to share a couple of my more fun dreams as
starters for this list.

(Though starting as an escape dream, this dream concludes
with a transformation from adult witness of a robbery to
infant victim of drowning.BK)

[I am a virgin to this page so hopefully I am doing this
right!

I had a dream that I cannot figure out what it means.]

I was being chased my car and by foot for several days by men
that I had seen rob a bank in this small town I was in. I am
from New York City and never had been a town like the one I
imagined. Throughout these several days I was staying with
a family in a farmhouse. Then one day I came home to the
house only to find the men attacking the woman I was living
with ( she was pregnant and about to give birth any day) I
think they beat her so badly they forced her into labor..
when she gave birth to the child .. the men took the child
to the backyard and tried to drown the child.. the whole
time here I am just observing, not doing anything. As they
were drowning the child.. I became the child.. I was looking
at the men underwater through the child's eyes.. then I woke
up..

Can anyone help me?

In my dream, I am the absent father and my father is the
absent father. The mother is my mother, who, in some
serious ways, could not take care of herself. The mother is
also my inner feminine, who needs protection, along w/ her
sacred child, from the slings and arrows of life and
society.

The dream for me is also about the process of birth. It's
about the "beating" one seems to get in making the
transition from the womb to breath. The men I see are the
doctors and residents at the hospital.

If this were my dream, I'd meditate on what I need to do to
protect my inner feminine and inner child. I'd try to
experience the dream from the perspectives of the mother,
the men, and the child (before it becomes the dream ego).
What do each of these characters want and need? What
motivates them?

I hope these thoughts are of use to you.

Greets, I saw your posting earlier this week.. and visited
the page.. yet didn't have a dream to give you.. well last
night I had one! In r/l at work last night (I work in a
night club) There was a mop on the floor, not thinking.. I
stepped over it. Well stepping over a broom is supposed to
bring you fertility. I thought "I didn t just do that!" I
have no desire to get pregnant, at all, especially since I am
single.

The Dream... My friend (who just had a baby in r/l, and
a divorce) and I were in a hospital, we had both given birth
to baby's, mine a boy, hers a girl. We walked back to the car
happy and care free. But once in there I realized I had
forgotten my baby at the hospital. I though for a minute..
they could probably take better care of the baby than me.. so
I tried to forget about him. Then a crazed drug addict female
jumped in and demanded the car. She was in the middle of us.
We sat in a very bad neighborhood parking lot. The drugged
woman took out mace and sprayed my friend, when I saw the
mace I stuck my head out the window and took a deep breath.
We tried to tell the woman she didn't have to live her life
this way, she could do better, and be happy. She began to
calm down and smilingly agreed. Just then a man with a gun
came and shot my friend, and the woman, there was a lot of
blood. I escaped. As I ran I thought this was my punishment
for leaving my baby at the hospital.. and 2 ppl where
sacrificed because the baby had died without me. I was left
alive to suffer, and learn from my mistake.

The Dream... My friend (who just had a baby in

responsibility for nurturing my own life?

me that is frightened and feels out of control. I note w/
interest that there's no description of what happens to the
female baby. In my guilt about my own child, I don't notice
whether she survives the attack by the man.

I fear that if I do take on the role of the mother (either
literally or metaphorically to my inner child), the "man"
will kill me. My choices in life have resulted in my not
being drug-addicted or an active mother, but they aren't
fully satisfying either.

If this were my dream, I would try to experience from the
perspective of all the characters, including the babies.
What part of me feels abandoned and in need of nurturing?
What part would enjoy being a mother? What's crazed,
addicted, and spraying dangerous gases?

As the man, what are my motives for the murders? Why do I
kill the addict and the friend but leave the dreamer alive?

I know that this analysis wasn't easy to read and I apologize
if I've given any offense, but if this dream were mine, it
would be about an important opportunity to consider what
changes I might want to make in my life. If you'd like to

Possibly the dreamer is conflicted about taking on some new
responsibility. The dreamer "forgets" her baby at the
hospital, then rationalizes her walking away from the
situation as best for the baby/new responsibility because
others could take better care of the baby/new responsibility.
The dreamer is walking away from a situation that she created
but no longer wants to deal with. The crazed female drug
addict who gets between the dreamer and her friend is
obviously very needy. This symbol may represent a part of
the dreamer's personality or subconscious. The addict is so
needy she maces (blinds) her friend. The dreamer tells the
addict/self she doesn't have to lead her life in this
frenzied addicted way. The addict agrees/self agrees, but
before this agreement can appear in behavior a man appears
with a gun killing both the addict and the friend. The gun
is a well-known phallic symbol, the explanation for this part
of the dream may be that a man has killed the dreamer's
relationship with a female friend and/or has killed the part
of her that was ready for reform and rehabilitation. The
dreamer runs back to take care of her new responsibility, but
the situation has changed. It is too late. The "baby" has
died. This may indicate that in real life the dreamer is
involved in a situation which she subconsciously knows it is
too late to repair or to bring back "to life. If the dreamer
disagrees with the above interpretation it is wrong. Only
the dreamer knows.

responsibility and problem solving. The setting is in a
spliced Westminster Abbey religious setting with Parking
Lot [temporary vehicle storage place] characteristics. The
dreamer is a child again in the dream, with responsibility
for another child - her own. From the provided commentary,
we learn that this dream took place in the dreamers life at
the time of a temporary visit to London. Was the internal
dreamer seeking a way back home from the tourist/parking lot
lifestyle? Many dreams bring us to mazes or trapped
situations - how to escape? The dreamer finds the escape
route, but the child plunges back into the dilemma situation
bringing the guardian with her.)

which I downloaded from the AOL Writers Club library. Though
I have been writing down my dreams for decades, I have never
DONE anything with them. I would love to know more about the
terms "dream work" and "dream wheel."

[Background: This dream arrived early in the morning of
Monday, 26 July 1993 and was written into my writers journal
a few hours after I awoke. We were in London that month,
where my family and I were living in a tiny apartment on
busy, noisy Kensington Road. My husband was there on
business; my 11-year-old daughter and I spent the month being
tourists.]

A dream. Alyce is about four years old, and I am eight,
almost nine. We're lost in a bizarre combination of
Westminster Abbey (tombs and soaring ceilings) and the
parking garage between Pike Place Market and Interstate-99.
As is often true in the real parking garage in Seattle, I am
experiencing the auditory illusion that I am standing in the
middle of the highway with 55mph traffic racing toward my
back. The entire dreamtime, I am aware that the noise isn't
real; it's an illusion.

Mostly, I do a pretty good job of attending to one half of my
divinely impossible mission of hiding Alyce from a non-
physical "they" and finding a way out of the structure.
"They" never see us, though they sometimes brush close. I'm
good at dodging and hiding. My search for the exit goes on
and on, though. Getting out of the Abbey-Garage baffles me
completely. No matter which stairway, hall, aisle, pew row,
or parking level I choose, we end up back in front of the
choir section with all its ornate woodwork highlighted with
gold.

Opening a closet door, I find the stairway accidentally.
This is the way out. Alyce tugs on my hand, pulling away. I
take her hand again. "They" are gaining on us, have probably
caught sight of us, but I am sure we can make it up the
stairs and out, if we hurry . . . except . . . Alyce decides
to plunge headlong into danger. I can't grab her back. She
toddles away from me, toward "them." We're going to get
caught.

It's not frightening, just frustrating. I'm pissed. I
think, loudly: "I am totally inadequate as a protector.
Someone should have realized that before stupidly putting an
eight-year-old in charge!"

***Dream: Dream of the Hidden Child - By Alissa (960914)

I see a child hidden behind a mask, her tiny hands reaching
out form under heavy robes weighing her down as she feebly
seeks help. The image reminded me of a Noh play where
stylized characters gesture in infinitesimally slow motion
and a gong echoes an eternity of timeless silence.

When I painted this dream, I understood that this was a baby
part of myself Long buried under layers of
roles, expectations and fears, feebly seeking
help. The dream was a cry to myself to shake off oppressive
conditioning and be free.

As you picture this dream in your mind's eye you may sense
that you too were once such a child whom you
still carry within yourself in ways unique to
you. You might imagine "if this were my dream"....


*** Dream : "Pristine Jewels on the Fence" by MAR (960915)

I'm usually pretty good at pin pointing why I may of dreamt
a peculiar dream, but then sometime I have a problem with
some. Like this one, I can't stop thinking about it.

It took place in a back yard of a friend when I was "VERY"
young, five or six, what I remember is walking up to a
fence, wooden, six foot tall and it was old, some parts of
it where falling apart, like old fences do. I found mounted
on the fence, a glass display case and it was full of
"valuable" trinkets. The display case and it's contents
appeared to have been there untouched, only disturbed my
nature, wind, rain, sun. The case itself was dirty, like if
you would leave something like that outside for a long period
of time, but you could still see the items inside, that where
jumbled about. I stood there holding a diamond "bracelet" or
"earring" thinking I can't believe this stuff its still here.

It took place in a back yard of a friend when I was

My first thought on reading this was that the fence
symbolized one or both of my parents or some other adult.
When I was a child, adults were tall (some even 6') and very
old, and falling apart in places.

I found mounted on the fence, a glass display case and it
was full of "valuable" trinkets. The display case and it's
contents appeared to have been there untouched, only
disturbed my nature, wind, rain, sun. The case it self was
dirty, like if you would leave something like that outside
for a long period of time, but you could still see the items
inside, that where jumbled about. I stood there holding a
diamond "bracelet" or "earring" thinking I can't believe this
stuff its still here. That's it. One thought that occurs to
me is of an actual bureau in my parents' room on which my
mother kept her jewelry box and her less expensive jewelry
("valuable trinkets"). This dream in part may be of a memory.
As a child I was not above "borrowing" things from my
parents and hiding them in the woods.

On a metaphorical level, I'd ask myself about what gifts I
received from my parents which have not been touched
(damaged) by time. What did they give me which is still in
pristine condition (my values, my self-confidence, my
curiosity)?

I know my "case" has become somewhat dirty and a bit jumbled
about after all these years, but the valuable trinkets are
left untouched after all this time.

***Dream: "Makeup" by Cristie (960917)***

My second really memorable dream was significant to me. Some
background: At 14, when I started wearing makeup, I noticed
my mom (w/ hazel eyes) had green eyeshadow, brown mascara and
that's about it. So when I went to the store( w/ my brown
eyes), I bought brown eyeshadow and mascara but longed for
the blues and purples.

My dream: I was in a drug store full of brown makeup. Off
to one side was a display with bright colors and I was drawn
to it. The makeup was free, but if I didn't go with the
brown, I had to leave by the front door (everyone came in and
left by the side door.) I saw the most amazing bright blue
eyeshadow I had ever seen and took it. When I got outside
(through the front), there was a big lake with a slotted wood
bridge that skimmed over the top of it. In the lake were two
very large dinosaurs! I had to low-crawl across the bridge
without the dinosaurs seeing me. If I accomplished this I
would be able to keep and wear the blue. I kept dipping into
the water as I pulled myself across but I made it safely. I
laughed about it when I woke up.

Significance: A short time later I saw the exact same blue
on a display filled with unusual bright colors. I figured I
had earned it/I was allowed, so I bought it. It's been almost
twenty years and I haven't worn brown since.

I had a dream that I was to wear a dress to some affair and
the dress I had on, I thought it looked fine on me. I even
looked in the mirror and then I asked my friends what they
thought and they thought it looked fine too. Then I looked
down at the dress and I thought it was hideous. It looked
like something my mother would wear, like a housedress. So
then I tried on another dress, white in color, but very
revealing and I remember feeling afraid to wear it or even
try it on.

I'm wearing a dress, an exterior, a persona I don't recognize
and my friends think is fine, but I discover to be hideous.
It's my mother's dress; it's a housecoat.

I'm wearing this housecoat to an affair. Did my mother have
an affair? (I've just finished reading about Dick Morris; I
couldn't resist asking this question.) Am I having an affair
or thinking about an affair fearing that I'll appear like my
mother.

The mother's dress reminds me of the mother's homespun in the
Parricidal legend. Parricidal promised his mother that he
would always wear the "dress" she has woven for him under
his armor. This proved his undoing because at some point we
must all outgrow the personas our mothers have made for us.

I try on another dress, but I find it to revealing. In this
culture, we think of white as the color of vignette; in some
cultures, it's the color of death. If I stopped hiding
behind my mother's homespun, would "I" (my current persona
and ego) die? Would I reveal too much of who I am? Am I
afraid to discover or reveal who I am? (If so, welcome to
humanity; few and far away are the self-actualized.)

Here's a disturbing dream.

The world has ended, or at least civilization has collapsed.
I am in a record store with a bunch of people trying to
convince them that we should be hunting game with bows and
arrows instead of using guns and eating out of cans, since
the technology will eventually run out or break down.

Unable to convince them, I go outside. Along the mountainous
skyline in the far distance I see Swami Ramdas meditating -
in fact, several of him. I start walking towards (one of)
him, and he begins walking towards me, but to my horror he
dies in an abrupt avalanche. I see his death.

It takes me three days to reach his body. An arm is sticking
out of the rubble, and I try to take off his wristwatch.
I've some difficulty because his wrist is broken.

What a great dream! I like end-of-the-world dreams because
they always announce the need for change. The world
has ended, or at least civilization has collapsed. I am in a
record store with a bunch of people trying to convince them

store. Considering the wristwatch at the end of this dream,
I believe the "record" isn't a phono record, but a record or
memory. I'm trying to convince those around me that the
time has come for change, for looking out for ourselves,
that we can't depend on technology for survival. In my
dream, this is a msg about my dependency on technology for
nourishment and in my relationships w/ others.

Unable to convince them, I go outside. Along the
mountainous skyline in the far distance I see Swami Ramdas

don't know if there's a Swami Ramdas in waking life, but in

wristwatch. I've some difficulty because his wrist is
broken. 3 is a magic #. The old religion is dead. I must
find a new way to God. Yet here I am, still a slave to time
and technology, trying to rescue both even though God is
dead.

I also wonder about the relationship between limp wrist and
broken wrist. Did the Swami lose his masculinity even before
he lost his life?

If this were my dream, I'd try being the Swami and figure out
what msg I want to give to the dreamer, what I wanted to
tell him when I began walking toward him.

*** Dream: "Novel Death" by David (960908) ***

Last night I dreamed (and this is not necessarily
SIGNIFICANT, but I'm sitting in a library getting paid to
write this) that somebody very close to me had died. I was,
as I always am, perfectly aware that I was dreaming. I
wasn't me, though. I was a character in a novel,
unspecified. And my relationship to the deceased was
unspecified. I just wanted to experience the death of a
loved-one, and I guess I thought I could best do it asleep.
I started to weep. I don't think I actually cried, but in
the dream I did, and I dreamed I was lying on my bed crying
in a dream. It was quite enjoyable.

Some time ago I posted a message saying I sometimes enjoyed
EVERYTHING, and Moggin asked if I enjoyed misery and
suffering, and I backed down and said no. But there is a lot
contained in the term "enjoy." I wouldn't work to increase
suffering in the world, but I wouldn't care to live in a
world entirely rid of it.

If this were my dream, I'd still be young enough to think
that death was a game, both frightening and fascinating, but
so far away as to be unreal. I'm trying to find out more
about it while not getting close enough to it to be deeply
affected by it.

My dream is trying to tell me about change. Is there some
part of myself I have to give up? Is a loved-one changing
in a way that I might or am supposed to grieve, but I'm not
really that affected or unsure of my feelings? Am I detached
from a loved-one? Do I want to dance w/ death? Do I have a
loved-one whom I wish would die/change? Do I want to
die/change?

***Dream: Accidental Death of Little Girl by VickyT ***

3. I was attending school, I guess high school. I was a
teenager, in a totally different body, than I was in real
life. I could see myself, as if I was watching me. I was in
class and very tired. I didn't feel well at all, like I had a
fever, and all achy, the flu type stuff. I put my head on the
desk, to rest for awhile. I remember thinking, I should go
home because I feel real bad. After I left, something
happened at home. I'm not sure what happened or how it
happened, but I accidentally killed a little girl. Maybe
hitting her with the car, but I don't remember. I just knew I
had killed her, but not on purpose. I was scared to death. I
didn't know what to do. I didn't want to tell any one,
because they might think I did it on purpose, and send me to
jail for killing her. I didn't know what to do, so I left her
lay in the drive way, where she died, which was in the alley,
and I covered her up with a blue plastic tarp. I left and was
hopping that no one would see her, until I knew what to do
about it. Her right leg was sticking out from the tarp. You
could tell that there was a body underneath it. I didn't want
to go cover the leg up, I was afraid to go near her because
she was dead. I was afraid of the person and to touch it. I
was so scared. I remember thinking, how could of I ever done
something like this, killing a person, I knew I could never
do that, but I did, even though I didn't mean to. Then some
people or cops were walking around asking others if they had
seen a little girl, because one was missing. I just froze, I
knew they would find her dead body in my driveway in the
alley, and she was covered up, as if I was trying to hide
her. I knew they would find her and I would go to jail for
this. Then I woke up, just terrified, it took me a few
minutes to realize it was just a bad dream. But until then I
kept thinking, oh what have I done, how could of I killed
someone, especially a little girl, who was innocent, and had
never harmed me. But the worst feeling was, how could of I
have done that to someone, killed them. It was just
unbelievable that I could do that, and try to cover it up.
When I realized that I was just dreaming, I kept saying, oh
thank you god, it wasn't real. But it sure felt like it was
real. I mean really felt like it was real. Those feelings
were the most awful feelings someone could ever experience. I
was so relieved that it didn't really happen. End of dream.

My habit is to get up about 4:30 am and get the paper.
After about 3/4 hr perusing, I settle down for more sleep. I
wonder how you would interpret this dream:

*** the dream: There seemed to be a room full of people. A
car pulled up and in came Les Wilson**. He's been dead 2
years. I made room for him to sit and Poppa* was there and
when he sat near me. What I thought was a chair was a wide
piano stool. At that stage I went out to a strange kitchen
where some of the lady visitors were and I had I think a
leg of lamb cooking. Poppa came out after a while and said
what a trouble Les was in. His wife wouldn't speak to him
and all was wrong. I didn't worry about that. I just said "Oh
well". Poppa went back and took the cooked meat. I started to
serve up and nobody had done any veg. I went to the room
where Poppa and Les were and said I wanted the dish to make
gravy. That room was so full of furniture one could hardly
get through. I went back to the kitchen (without dish) and
said there is a fair bit of trouble up there, and more or
less laughed it off, at that stage I woke up 8am)and was very
pleased it wasn't real.

The following dreams were experienced between 0100 AM and
0400 AM on the 27-9-1996.

*** "The Lion's - Part I" by Steve & Co. (960927)***

Dream #2. The Lions - part 1... "Home" is a house
located on the edge of a large grassed playing

  
field. On
entering the house with my wife, I notice a lion sitting on a
brick column (a real lion, not ornamental). We quickly make
our way into the house where we encounter lionesses. As we
dart from room to room looking for a safe place we come
across our two dogs and my parent-in laws' dog. Their fur is
missing except for a little around their back legs and tail.
We pass one last lioness then found ourselves in a lion-free
room ! Despite my own sense of being potential lion-tucker,
none of the lions seemed particularly interested in either
us or the dogs. In the next scene, all lions have
disappeared, and I'm running around the playing field with
one of my friends, taking turns at tackling each other rugby-
style. After being tackled on one occasion, an unknown,
uninvited person jumps on me. I feel my rib-cage on my right
hand side and sense that about three or four ribs have been
broken. It doesn't hurt, it just ticked me off that some prat
had jumped in without asking and apparently without thinking
of the consequences.

At this point I woke up, felt my ribs, thought "man,
what a weird dream" and went back to sleep....

*** "The Lions - Part 2" by Steve & Co. (960927)***

Dream #3. The Lions - part 2. The scene is as that in part
1, only I don't see the lion. We encounter the lionesses
again, however this time they are all in the one room/area.
We hasten to another room. On our way, I look down the
passage to see what I believe is a half-eaten sheep
carcass. The three dogs are here, bald again but bleeding
as it appears that their fur has been torn off in places. Our
eldest dog approaches snarling, but I got the sensation that
he was angry that we weren't there to protect him, rather
than him wanting to attack us. Apart from the group of lions
seen on our entry, the house is relatively lion-free and
once again, the lions that were there weren't interested in
us.

Three weird dreams in one night.... left me tired before I
went to work!

#2 I was riding on a horse, with another horse with me. I
rode it to where john works, (he works at a trucking
company, which is a strange place to take horses.) As I
arrived I needed him to let me store my horses there for
awhile. He did not want me to do that. I was upset at him for
not letting me. I went to his boss, and he gave me
permission to do so, because it was very important that I
have a safe place to keep my horses for awhile. John was very
upset with me, because he did not want me there nor my
horses. He seemed to not want anyone there to know that I
even knew him, or that he had anything to do with me. I put
my horses away in the stable. As I did this, I rode my horse
through the main part of the place, and I sat proud and tall,
because my horse was beautiful, and I could keep my horses
there, even though he said I couldn't. I went over his head,
and got what I needed. End of dream.


AGGRESSION


*** Dream: Revenge by Nutcracker (960801) ***

I was in a house. It was a small wood frame house. I was
left alone with a criminal; a white male, in his 50's. He
looked weather beaten, hadn't shaved in a few days, his hair,
gray. He looked like a horse who'd been ridden hard and put
up wet. Here was a man who had killed a number of people.
He was sitting on a chair, his hands tied in front of him.
As I turned my back to him, he tried to stand up and move
away. "Uh-uh," I said, making him sit back down. The room
was devoid of furniture except for several chairs and a table
with a knife on it. It was large, almost machete like. The
blade was wide, about three and half inches. The knife was
old and appeared to have had a lot of use; the wooden handle
was worn and the blade had a discolored, mottled appearance.
I picked up the knife and began lightly tapping the guy on
the knees with it. Sometimes the knife would cut him,
sometimes not. Now, in the same room, a woman, the man's
cohort in crime. She's white, in her 40's and blonde. She's
also sitting on one of the chairs. Now another man has
joined me (us). He's older, in his 60's. He's sitting next
to the woman. I think he's a family member of one of their
victims. Now also in the room are an audience and a talk
show host. The two criminals (the man and woman) had broken
into peoples homes and if the victims hadn't worn a watch to
bed, they would torture and kill them. Let me just say, the
shoe was on the proverbial other foot here today. The man in
his 60's took the knife and began slicing the woman from head
to toe as she sat in the chair. First one slice, then
another. He'd alternate sides, first the left then the
right, until she had been sliced into 5 pieces. Even though
he had made all of these cuts into her, she was still alive
and sitting upright in the chair. Next, he began cutting up
the man. I could hear the talk show host telling us to eat a
piece of the criminals flesh as bits and pieces fell to the

in a sweat or with my heart racing from the goriness of it
all. I find it odd that I could watch something like this in

*** Dream: More Mayhem by Nutcracker(960810)***

Someone in town was going around killing people with a knife.
No one had a clue as to who it might be. I had gotten into a
situation where I was in a car with three kids. One of them
had a pair of scissors. I thought he might be the one doing
the killing. I was yelling at the other two kids to get out
of the car, away from the one with the scissors. Then I
noticed a man coming out of the house we were parked in front
of. He walked down the porch steps carrying a knife in his

I lived in a house by myself near the beach. I was going
from room to room, front door to back door, checking to make
sure all the doors and windows were locked. Much to my
dismay I found them all unlocked. I have this fear, at least
I think that my landlord is stalking me. I lock everything
back up again. I have company staying with me, Sue B. and
her 2 year old daughter. I opened the door to their bedroom
only to find the floor covered in a foot of water. I wade in
and take Sue's daughter and change her into some dry clothes.
For a moment I thought about taking the girl back to my room
to spend the night, but instead put her on the top bunk bed.
I didn't tell Sue about my concerns regarding my landlord.
Just as I was about to close the door to their bedroom, a
tiger came in through the unlocked window near the bunk beds.
It tried to paw the door open as I pulled it shut behind me.
I knew the tiger wouldn't hurt Sue or her daughter, only me.

I was in a bombed out, worn-torn building. There were some
others there as well. We were all looking for places to use
as a bathroom. There were no toilets. The doors that were
there, were barely hanging and walls were almost non-
existent. I went one way and this guy went the other. All I
could find was a small corner with some burned logs, charred
and black. The guy went off in a corner to do his thing. I
wandered outside to find a better place. A car pulled up and
a woman got out, undressed and went to the bathroom right
there in public, on the side of the road. Europeans are much

B. and I are traveling (by car) to visit relatives. We stop
into a bar to have lunch. We end up spending most of the
afternoon there as well, till it's finally time for dinner.
I have a look at the menu. The waitress comes by and I ask
her how the fish (perch) is. She says it's not that great
(ocean perch), and that the good ones (lake perch) are really
expensive. Then she asked how my lunch was earlier. I told
her the fries were too mushy to eat. She said that was
because the cook, after they're fried, drowns them in
vinegar. B. comes over to the table and says he wants to go
eat at this famous restaurant in Fond du Lac where they have
the best fish fry in the state. The waitress mentions the
name and he says, "yeah, that's the place." While B. went to
get his jacket, I told the waitress that we only get home a
few times a year and that we really look forward to the
Friday fish fry. When B. returned he had his jacket on, a
sheepskin and suede number. He was also wearing two cowboy
hats, one white, one black. I suppose he had bought them for
his nephews. On top of the brim of the hat, lay his black
leather wallet. The wallet was bulging with money and credit
cards. I felt he shouldn't be exposing it like that, on the
brim of his hat. The wallet fell off and I picked it up,
trying to hide it among my purse and newspapers I was
carrying; finally, shoving it inside my jacket. It's dark
outside now. We reach the parking lot which is dimly lit by
a single street light. There are several people milling
about. "Get out your keys," I say to B. with a sense of
foreboding. He doesn't hear me or just isn't listening.
"Get out your keys," I repeat. I can see our car. He's
brought the convertible and the top is down. Why'd he bring
that car, I wonder? Just then, three men get out of a car
and begin following us. Now we're in trouble. One guy goes
after B., the other two, after me. I ran back and forth
between the cars, trying to elude them, determined not to let
them have his wallet. One of the guys after me is skinny.
I could take him out with no problem. The other one is fat.

*** Dream: RL Stine - Part 1 by Nutcracker(960805)***

(Bits & Pieces): This has something to do with R.L. Stine,
the author of Goosebumps. We're in a cafeteria at a food
carousel. I'm waiting my turn as the food comes around to
me. I take a fried chicken sandwich and take a bite. The
chicken tastes bad, rancid. There are two girls behind me in
line who are standing in my way to the water/ice dispenser.
I have to contort myself in various ways to reach around them
to fill my glass. B., RL Stine and another woman are sitting

*** Dream: A Little Of Everything by Nutcracker(960813)***

I had gone to some sort of meeting expecting to get free
food. While, yes, there was free food, you had to go and get
it now with coupons they were passing out. The coupons would
not be good at a later time. As I walked home, I had a small
handful of appetizers; oyster crackers which had been cut in
half (horizontally) and filled with cheddar cheese and b-b-q
sauce. The cracker halves were then put back together (like
a sandwich) and then the whole cracker ensemble was glued to
a piece of cardboard. The cardboard fit in the palm of my
hand and each one had approximately 15 crackers on it. There
was a girl walking in front of me. She said, "An empty deer
would sure go good with this!" (I have NO IDEA what this
means) When I arrived back home, my dad asked me how the new
car, the Ford, was working. I said, "We don't have a Ford."
"OK, the Dodge or whatever it is," he said. I said, "I've
never driven the new car (not brand new, used and it was
silver)." He said, "The car with 2625 miles on it." I said,
"we only have that many miles collectively on both of our
cars and I've only had to put gas in once this month." There
is a party going on at our house. Someone asks me if my mom
had baked the dessert. I answered that my mom only bakes if
the party is held at her house or if it's for a member of our

*** Dream: And For Dessert.....by Nutcracker(960816)***

I went to meet B. for dinner at a restaurant. He was waiting
in line to be seated when I arrived. He stood there reading
the menu while I was watching a man and his three year old
daughter choose a dessert out of the glass case on the
countertop. B. pointed to a honey stained pine shelf that
ran along the ceiling. It also had samples of dessert on it.
These were free for the asking; mini samples so you could
decide which one you wanted to order. They all looked
delicious. The one on the end, closest to me looked like
caramel covered cheesecake, either with raisins or chocolate
chips. The one next to it I couldn't quite make out - it was
too far away. The man (he's redheaded and burly and wearing
jeans and a denim shirt) and his daughter (she's got blonde
long curly hair and is wearing a red and white polka dot
dress with a red satin ribbon for a belt) finally decide on a
dessert and place their order. The waiter removes it from
the case, sets it on the counter, puts a dinner plate on top
of it and then turns it upside down. Then he removes the
cardboard container from around it, lifting it straight up,
very slowly. Yum-yum. I think I'll skip dinner and go
straight for the dessert myself. It looks to be some kind of
caramel apple upside down cake, but instead of cake, it's
made with monkey bread (a pull-a-part type of bread). On the
top of the dessert is vanilla ice cream, now melting and
running down the sides. The serving portion is quite large,
about six inches round, more than enough for two. B. and I
scour the menu for a description of it. I don't recall the
name of it, but part of the description read: Monkey bread
made from the core of real monkeys. There's a guy sitting in
a booth directly behind us who notices our curiosity with the
guy's dessert. He sticks his arm between the wrought iron
bars trying to get the guy's attention, calling his name.
His arm isn't quite long enough to reach him and he's waving
it about trying to get him to notice. He calls out, "Tray-
for," in a foreign accent (perhaps a slavic dialect). The
guy in the booth is thin, pasty white and has black hair. He
hasn't shaven for about a week. I guess the other guy's name
is really Trevor. We converse awhile about the dessert
selections. Now it seems B. has lost a contest or quiz to
the little girl and he has to do what she wants (and now I'm
B.). The girl wants to give B. (me) lessons in the study of
sculptures. They're (we're) out in some garden studying a
statue and B (I) guesses incorrectly. The girl see ms
pleased with herself thinking that she's better than B. (me),
but then the nose on the statue begins growing (like
Pinocchio). It was as though some invisible being had taken
their finger and run it down the statue's nose, lengthening

I have recently subscribed to Edream and would like to share
a dream with you, that I had a couple of months ago and
which was very unique for me. Please be so kind to add my

The dream (please excuse my English for English is a foreign
language to me, please make any correction you like):


In this dream that I had a couple of months ago and that I
want to share with you here, I was aware that I was dreaming
although I would not call it a lucid dream and I was lay down
in my. There were no visual contributions to my dream as far
as I remember. The dream started when I felt an unresistable
wave of fear arriving out of nowhere. Fear that I could only
describe as naked, archaic unrelated fear stronger than I
ever encountered before. I also noticed a strong response of
my body functions to this fear. In was totally aware of the
situation, and I decided willingly to do the only thing
thought was right in this situation : Let the fear pass
through me without any resistance. As I did this the fear
passed through me like a tidal wave, convulsing every muscle,
every bone and every pore of my body. When the wave died
away I awaked and although I still felt the fear in every
bone I felt lively and energetic.

I do not have any interpretation for this dream, although one
could see it as symbolic for my overall approach to fear and
dangerous situations. I neither run away nor do I try to
control myself, but I try to flush the fear or anger through
me, seeing it as what it is without letting it overtake me.

=== Dream: Pez Convention by Nutcracker ===

I had registered to attend a Pez convention. I would be
sharing a room with three other females whom I didn't know.
I was the first to arrive at the room. There were two beds
and we'd have to double up. I must have fallen asleep
because when I woke up, one of the other girls had arrived.
"Hi, I'm Amy," she said. "Hi, I'm N.," I said, shaking her
hand. She left me to go off and do some room hopping and to
buy some Pez from the dealers. For some reason, I have
missed most of the convention, though I have managed to buy a
few items. One of my friends (roommates) is Sara Gilbert
(Roseanne). She came back to the room with a sack full of
Pez. She had 5-6 Pez that looked like plastic cookie
cutters. I had three of them myself, but not the entire set
as she did. I wasn't concerned with completing the set, as
there were other, more desirable Pez I was after. I went to
one of the dealer's rooms to look at his Pez (it's actually
his house). He tells me how he and his wife had just moved
in. The place is old and tiny, but has a lot of charm. The
place has lots of hand carved crown moldings and the likes.
I tell him I can see why they fell in love with the place.
The guy's name is Tim Wishy. He's got all of his Pez
displayed in glass cases. He even has all of the Smurfs.
I've never seen them before except for two I found at a flea
market, but even then, their faces were broken. While Tim is
on the phone making a deal with someone, I look around. It's
now the third and final day of the convention. Sales are now
closed to the public. At 3:00 pm there will be an auction
open only to those who pre-registered and those making bids
via the Internet. The auction is to be held at the Dugout in
my home town. B. and I go to the Dugout to take part in the
auction. B. has gone off somewhere and I'm sitting there
with one of the dealers. He tells me that I can look, but I
can't buy anything for two more hours, until the auction

I had come across a wooden display case that had been painted
glossy black. The case was compartmentalized (20 slots) and
each slot held several (about 5) Pony-Go-Round Pez
dispensers. There were dozens of them. I had hit the mother
lode of P-G-R's and they were very affordable, $4 each
instead of the usual $20-90. Needless to say I bought them

=== Dream: The Collector by Nutcracker ===

I was sitting at a picnic table outside a school (I think).
My sister (as a child) was with me. There was a guy in his
30's there talking to another guy saying how his friend's
(Julian Long) movie was premiering and they were going to see
it that evening. I had been waiting months for the movie to
be released. I was sitting there writing when another guy
came and sat beside me. He has a backpack which falls open,
allowing me to see inside. There I see a rare, hard to find
Pez truck - hot pink and black. It's 8" x 20" x 5". I reach
into his bag and grab it for a better look. "Where did you
get this? I've been looking all over for one of these." He
told me to call a guy named Ervin Frish and that he could
probably get one for me. I then dug around in my own
backpack looking for......TA DA.....a Donatello (Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtle) puppet, still mint in its bag. No,
that's not what I meant to grab. My bag is filled with
McDonald's Happy Meal toys. I finally find my Pez dispenser.
It's like a rubber squeeze toy of The Little Mermaid. I tell
him I'm a Pez collector also. I knew who the guy was (Julian
Long) and asked him, "So, where is your movie opening?
Dallas? Ft Worth?" "Just Dallas," he answers. "What
theater?" "Due 1." My sister has my pen and notebook. I
have to fight with her to get it back so I can write the name
of the theater down. I think maybe my girlfriend Nancy will
know where that is, but I was doubtful. Julian and I chatted
a while longer and then he said to me, "So, you're a
writer?" (I don't know how he knew this as we hadn't
discussed it). "I'm working at it," I said, picking up my
books from the table as I stood up to leave. (960813) #512

*** Dream: Surreal by Nutcracker(960806) ***

I was about to step out of the mini van which was parked in
the driveway, next to the garage. As I looked down at the
ground, it seemed only the driveway (cement) was real
(solid). Everything else seemed to be floating on air. By
that I mean it appeared normal, but wasn't solid. If you
were to step on say, the grass, you would fall through it. I
then noticed my neighbor had cut the grass in his back yard
very short and all of the grass clippings were lying on top
of it. My grass also needed cutting as well. There was a
lot of litter in my yard. Harry told me to just mow over it;
that all of the debris would be mulched small enough so as to

I was traveling with my brother Jon, his family and some
others. We had stopped somewhere for the night. We didn't
stay at a hotel, but a vacant house. When we got up in the
morning I wandered from room to room just looking around.
There was a breezeway connected to the garage. There I found
a dog and a cat. These were someone's pets.
