Editor's Notes

??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Lucid dreaming has rushed to the forefront of the field of dreams and sleep studies and has unfolded a whole realm of its own. It has spawned its own teachers, its own research and laboratories, its own books and manuals, its own institutions, its own technologies and Web sites, newsgroups, its own priests, shamans, distractions, critics and newsletters.

Lucid dreaming is dreaming where the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming and yet does not wake up. Although the ability to do this has been noted throughout history and at times consciously sought after, it wasn't generally available as an idea in our culture until around 1985 and the publication of Steven LaBerge's Lucid Dreaming. Though popular in the dream underground since the 1960's it has now been accepted by the scientific community as well and has growing support around the world.

As lucid dream researcher, Jayne Gackenbach has noted, lucid dreaming is not only a unique dream-state, but a fundamental paradigm shift in the way we see consciousness. This month Electric Dreams explores the world of lucid dreaming and the resources available online.

To start things out, I am including ?a Brief History of Lucid Dreaming?, an excerpt from my book _A Brief History of Dream Sharing_. This will give you an overview of the field and some references to follow. Note that this article was characterized by Dr. Keith Hearne as ?woefully inadequate and distorted? and so I am including Dr. Hearne?s letter in the Dream Airing Column with the references that he feels are important to lucid dreaming.

This month's Lucid Dream Exchange by Lucy Gillis includes an account by Craig Webb, whose lucid dream took place in a sleep lab and gave an actual positive lucidity signal on the EEG/EOG readings. In other words, he was able to signal to the "outside waking world" by a prearranged eye movement signal.

For an all around quick view of HOW to have lucid dreams, Lars Spivock offers us an overview of what he feels are the most powerful and useful techniques in "Easy Steps to Lucid Dreaming"

Marc Vandekeere continues his exploration of the steps that can be used to achieve lucid dreaming from his full length online manual. This month the focus in on Increasing dream recall. Be sure to read all about dream recall in the Marc's column ?Lucid Bird's Words.?

?The Dream Doctor? returns this month. Charles McPhee, Ph.D. Charles, author of _Stop Sleeping through your Dreams_ answers questions on dreams and dreaming.

Also this month on Electric Dreams, Maria Mateus
Offers an ?Astrological Approach to Dream Interpretation?. In keeping with this same theme, Madam Aionia talks about Dreaming and the Fifth House for all those May dreams.

Join the Dreamchatters list!

********
Dreamchatters began in December 1999 as an adjunct to mailing-lists; to
keep up communications between dream-interested individuals. The hope being to be catalysts to creating a clearer path to the future of dreaming online.

Currently there are 39 members subscribed.

Dreamchatters is an egroup aimed at discussing dreams, dreaming and making those online with an interest in these subjects able to keep in touch as it suits them.

Although dreams are discussed there, the primary focus is dreaming community, rather than individual dreams.

It is enlightening to see messages from individuals with diverse backgrounds.

If any group member finds an interesting web site or article online, we pass it on and often that will begin a new thread of discussion.

There is a capacity for a group calendar, member profiles and links to urls to be stored at egroups.com, so that new members may explore first. It is a place to beta test chat venues'; to try and help make the currently available technology and capabilities of the internet more accessible to as many people as possible.

Not only do current amd potential group members have differing computer hardware and software, but we also live in different parts of the world, so there has been discussion about "universal time" , time zone conversion, and scheduling formal chats at staggered times so that no one time zone is expected to always be up at, for instance, local 3am.

You can opt to receive individual emails, daily digests, or to read it online at www.egroups.com.

Dreamlynx is back!

For those of you who used to surf the Net when there were only 2 or three dream sites, you may remember Dream Lynx. It was first called "Dream Links" then shifted to avoid confusion with laberge's equipment. Linton Hutchinson and his crew put together a wonderful dream site with dream submission forms, bulletin board dream groups, dream education, links to research and more. Linton was programming CGI when the rest of us were still trying to figure out basic HTML. DreamLynx presented at the ASD 13 conference in Berkeley and provided a dream-beacon for years.

Now its back with its own domain name.

LUCID CANOE-CAMPING DREAMQUEST ADVENTURE

(In the heart of the lush Canadian wilderness of Northern Ontario)

Imagine paddling across a sheet of sparkling liquid diamond by day, tanning peacefully to a gentle dip-and-swing paddling rhythm, interrupted occasionally by the thrill of having to navigate logs and ledges down channels of white water. Then, imagine the wilderness laughter call of loons at sunset and the welcome, gentle wafting aroma of campfire stir-fry, while you discover, by night, how to navigate the tandem inner world of dreams.

Adventurers can expect flat-water paddling, a few short portages, waterfall lunch-stops, and a good possibility of loons, moose, deer, beavers, otters, muskrats, mink, nesting hawks and eagles, and other wildlife (which often includes members of the camping party once the fetters of society are removed).

A flexible paddling schedule allows for stargazing, saunas, and learning proven techniques for remembering, sharing and understanding dreams, for stimulating lucid dreams, and for consciously enhancing fun and fulfillment in waking life.

Cost: $495US (Participants arrive Sunday evening for pre-trip festivities and to meet and connect with other trip participants, 6 Day Trip departs Monday morning and returns Saturday afternoon). Price includes all gear and equipment, food, and dream, lucidity, and professional paddling training by experienced workshop leader, and canoe guide Craig Webb. Registration is limited.

Ever have a dream that you know has to mean something important, but just can't figure out what? Sometimes going to dream interpretation encyclopedias and guides just doesn't work--they are so vague. This is a forum for the discussion of our dreaming minds. We'll chat about what goes on in our heads while we sleep, and maybe together can come up with interpretations to give us a clearer view of ourselves and each other. It doesn't matter if you have experience interpreting dreams or not; everyone is welcome, and no one can claim to be an expert on this shadowy realm!

This eGroup is for people who are interested in getting involved in The dREaM Initiative. We are conducting dream research, organizing projects and testing out different dreaming techniques. We document our experiences, give feedback and share our progress with the group as a whole and the Internet community at large in an attempt to shed some light on the fascinating field of dreaming.
By joining you will have full access to the vaultzzz, mailing list, chatroom, live talk room with live streaming audio, polls, and other random eGroup & dREaM Initiative resources.
We are currently focused upon researching our natural abilities to lucid dream and to experience "out of body experiences". We also have been testing the relationship between our brainwaves and their corresponding "states of consciousness". These are largely uncharted regions and it helps to have the support of others and the advice of those that are experienced as well as the freshness of newcomers to the field.
The dREaM Initiative is an ideal place for people of all dream-skill levels. From beginners to advanced lucid dreamers, we can act as a group trying to further the overall body of knowledge that is currently available about lucid dreaming/OBEs.

Letter from Dr Keith Hearne:

8th September 1999
Dear Richard Wilkerton

I was disturbed to see your internet material, for example Module 9, where the source references seem to me to be woefully inadequate and distorted.

Indeed, I want to put on record that I personally feel defamed by the your omissions. I made the basic sleep-laboratory discoveries concerning lucid dreams (the ocular signalling technique, the pre-lucid REM burst, and so on, also the invention of the dream machine, discovery of the scene-shift effect, etc etc) and I think you should inform your students of these references at least :

Hearne, K. (1978) Lucid dreams - an electrophysiological and psychological study. PhD thesis, University of Liverpool, England. (This PhD text is being assembled and can be viewed at web site : http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/dreamthemes)

There are many more scientific publications, articles, TV documentaries, in Europe.

I am writing another book at this time about lucid dreams.

I would be grasteful if you would send me information about yourself and your organisation.

There are two attachments to this e-mail.

An Excerpt From the Lucid Dream Exchange
By Lucy Gillis

? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ?

This month's excerpt is from Craig Webb, whose lucid dream took place in a sleep lab and gave an actual positive lucidity signal on the EEG/EOG readings. In other words, he was able to signal to the "outside waking world" by a prearranged eye movement signal. [Note: Craig refers to WILD below , which is Wake-Initiated Lucid Dream - entering the dream state from a fully conscious state, without first falling asleep.]

Craig Webb
Date: 95-6-16
Mega Lucid Adventure - Lots of Tests & St. Joseph's Fingers

I'm futzing around with trying to focus on some signs and numbers that are popping in and out and moving around on a wall, so that I can WILD into a lucid dream and pay my keep here at the dream lab. Eventually, I find this newspaper and fix on it for a while playing with consciousness focus until I'm in a scene. Then I signal a left-right (or maybe a pair). Now it gets quite involved with all kinds of simultaneous scenes and such, but here's the best I can remember:

I'm coming out of this doorway, in an old western barn scene, and I'm pretending as if I just did some crime, because there's some barn hand coming and I feel like I want a chase. Anyway, my ploy works and he grabs onto this ladder that I throw in the way, then I climb the ladder, trying to shake him loose of it, but he's holding on pretty well with a rubbery arm, I might add. Eventually, as he's about to grab me, I do a double-take and swing over on the direction that he came from, and by
this point he's already on the other side of the ladder, and I know I'll be able to shake him. I do, and I'm up high, either swinging on the ladder or falling, and not sure what to do, but I remember it's a dream, so I figure, "Who cares? I can't get hurt anyway." Then things get tougher to put into words, and I don't remember it all necessarily in sequence.

I can feel myself in bed (so I think, and this thought occurs that I'm just faking the eye movements, and I'm about to fall for it and feel silly, but then I figure that the lab attendant will come and wake me if she sees I'm awake, so that I'll just trust. I think I signal again here, but not sure. Now another scene (or simultaneous one) starts where I go running across some room, making some joking comment as though my sleeping body will say it, so that I can narrate for the lab attendant while I do the dream. Anyway, right after I do that, this female character in front of me laughs, and I think that that's probably the attendant laughing, and me making up a character to cover the sound so that I stay asleep. I think that's pretty creative of me, and I smile at her as I pass. Then things begin to speed up, and it seems that the dream wants to take me (a familiar tugging-like feeling) and show me something, so I oblige and begin flying quickly, so that the scenery swishes by too fast to see.

I think that I could become afraid because of the high speed, but I learned that fear lesson a long time ago. After I dismiss that thought, everything goes dark, and I begin to move diagonally downward (instead of horizontally) and speed up even more. It feels like a test of my lucidity, and I know it, so I think I signal again, make and brace myself for the ride. I let out a loud "YeeHaw!" cheer at the thrill of the speed, hoping the lab attendant might hear, and I even hear faint laughter in the background, so I assume that she does. After my cheer, as though the challenge is on to scare me, my path goes straight downward into even "darker" darkness, and I seem to be going even faster, and it feels like I'm "falling into the center of the earth," like I've done before, so I decide to let out another cheer of excitement.

I suddenly realize that I have the lab attendant's quarter in my left hand (which would fall onto a plate as I fell asleep), and I remember wanting to drop it here (falling asleep here?) and so I do, and it falls ahead of me into the center of the earth into the void. Next thing I know, I'm turned around so that I can't even see where I'm falling, 'not that it makes a big difference,' I think, but then I'm flipped around quickly to see that after "falling" at this speed for such a long time now, there's suddenly a floor of earth there, like pavement even, and I have only a split second to see it before I'm going to hit, but in that moment I again choose to not to buy the fear of impact thought that's dangling (figuratively) nearby.

And so, I'm suddenly safe on the floor, talking with this little boy or girl (not sure which - I think a boy- this is vague and goes on for a few minutes) who has these really sore hands and fingers, and I feel a lot of compassion for him. Then I begin to "float" awake, and I arrive in the bed in the actual lab hospital room. My very first thought is my habitual "check-for-false-awakening," but it seems pretty unlikely, and I'm very quickly distracted from pain coming from my hands and fingers. An odd feeling of pain though, not hurt so much as intensity of feeling, and it's very strong so that I'm holding up my hands and trying to put them down near the floor where they'll hurt less (?) and the attendant comes running in, and asks what's wrong. She sees my hands and I tell her about the little boy from the dream, and how much my hands hurt, and she says, "St. Joseph's fingers! Yes, apparently they're very painful." I give her a bit of a thanks-for-telling-me sarcastic look, and I hold my hands up close and see that my fingers are all warped and that my palms are even melted in some places (nudge, nudge, wink, wink on a freebie look-at-your-hands missed opportunity).

Anyway, I begin telling her all about the dream, and asking if she heard narration, and much to my surprise she says she did and smiles brightly. I think, 'Cool, that never worked before!' but I never really tried it either. Anyway, I get so involved talking about the dream, that I forget about my hands. I "know" that the little boy or girl is someone that "I" am in another existence somewhere, and I'm not sure the best way to try to explain this to her. She suddenly shifts and has strawberry blonde short hair, and lots of freckles. This surprises me a bit, but she shrugs it off as though she just pulled off a sweater or something, so I let it go.

She lies down on the floor beside the bed, listening still, and I begin to think that something's just a little too odd here, and I begin to get the slightest little dream tug to awaken and it suddenly hits me that I'm still dreaming. I'm quickly swooshed "backwards" and "shrunken down" back into the bed (from a far place it seems) here before I have time to really get lucid and shift my focus or signal. I awaken (for real) in the bed again, and say in a good-natured way, knowing I'd been fooled, "Damn, scammed again!" I think the Real attendant actually hears this, because I call her in, but do a quick reality check as she enters, so as not to be tricked anew. I feel very energized upon awakening too, and chuckle to myself at some of the scenes.

Waking connections: Sleeping in dream laboratory. St. Joseph's Oratory is a huge cathedral in Montreal where the crippled would come to be healed simply by belief (and perhaps the healing powers of famous Saint Brother Andre). Insights: Great example of believing creates your reality.

"I have been dreaming for some time and suddenly I realize that I am dreaming. As soon as I become lucid, I feel a flow of tingling energy rising up into my head and settling in my forehead. The dream images shift suddenly and now I see an amazingly beautiful evergreen tree in from of me. " Ken Kelzer

If the writings of the Ancient Eastern mystics are to be considered, the first mention of lucid like dream control comes from about 1000 BCE in the Upanishads "...having subdued by sleep all that belongs to the body, he not asleep himself , looks down upon the sleeping senses. Having taken to himself light, he goes again to his place - the golden person, the lonely swan." (Shafton, pg 431).

The doctrines moved from India into Tibet and as Gillespie (1988) has published, became part of the complex systems of enlightenment in Buddhism. Though generally unknown in the West, they were know to esotericists from Evans-Wentz's 1935 book Tibetan Yoga and Secret Doctrines.

Both the Greeks and the Romans spoke about lucid dreaming, but the credit for the first full description is usually given to St. Augustine who in 415 AD recounted two dreams of a former Roman physician Gennadius. In the first dream appeared a guide and the next night the guide returns and when Gennadius recognized him, the guide said they had met in the previous night's dream. The guide goes on to instruct him that he is dreaming, though his body is lying asleep, and that this is what it is like after death.

Hervey de Saint-Denys investigated and wrote in France about lucid dreaming in _"Dreams and how to Guide them_" which Freud knew of but didn't read. Freud should have read him as it would have perhaps gave him pause in saying it just wasn't possible.

Actually, it was Frederick Van Eeden that brought the issue up to the mainstream Western public in 1913 at a meeting for the Proceedings for the Society of Psychical Research, but the audience was small and reacted much in the same way they had to dreams in general - "So what?"

Other writers and individual pioneers like Hervey de Saint-Denys and Mary Arnold-Foster tried to bring public attention to lucid dreaming, but without success.

But by the 1960's Western Culture had reached a degree of self awareness that allowed us to see that excessive material gain didn't necessarily increase the meaning in one's life. Alternative realities were explored, some with success and some with disaster. Charles Tart was at the center of this exploration and published Altered States which among other articles, included one on how the Senoi tribe controlled their dreams and a reprint of Van Eeden's article "A Study of Dreams".

A few other writers also were able to reach people, including Patricia Garfield and her chapter on lucid dreams in Creative Dreaming, Celia Green's 1968 Lucid Dreams and Sparrow's 1976 Lucid Dreaming: Dawning of the Clear Light. Another influential stream were the popular Castaneda books, particularly the 1972 Journey to Ixtlan where Castaneda is supposedly taught the secret of lucid dreaming by the guide Don Juan. The now famous technique is to become conscious of one's hands while sleeping and thereby become lucid. What was actually suggested was to pick *any* pre-sleep selected object. It?s just that the hands were something that would always be available.

But it wasn't until two independent researcher groups were able to actually signal from the lucid dream state in laboratories that the first objective evidence was available. The first was a subject named Alan Worlsely who signaled to Keith Hearne in the the English sleep laboratories of Hull University. But Hearne held off on publishing his work and it was unknown to the parallel work being done in California at Sanford by Stephen LaBerge. Both had drawn on the current REM dream research that found that while most of the body is pretty much cut off from movement during dreaming, the eyes are actually quite active (thus REM or Rapid Eye Movement). Why not signal from the dream state with a pre-chosen series of eye movements that would be obvious and statistically significant? The only question was whether or not the lucid dream eye movements would correspond or connect with the psychical eye.

LaBerge describes the first night he was sleeping in the lab and was able to signal after some initial problems:

"I slept very well, indeed, and after seven and a half hours in bed had my first lucid dream in the lab. A moment before, I had been dreaming- but then I suddenly realized that I must be asleep because I couldn't see, feel, or hear anything. I recalled with delight that I was sleeping in the laboratory. The image of what seemed to be the instruction booklet for a vacuum cleaner or some such appliance floated by. it struck me as mere flotsam on the stream of consciousness, but as I focused on it and tried to read the writing, the image gradually stabilized and I had the sensation of opening my dream eyes. Then my hands appeared, with the rest of my dream body, and I was looking at the booklet in bed. My dream room was a reasonably good copy of the room in which I was actually asleep. Since I now had a dream body I decided to do the eye movements that we had agreed upon as a signal. I moved my finger in a vertical line in front of me, following it with my eyes. But I had become very excited over being able to do this at last, and the thought disrupted my dream so that it faded a few seconds later." (1985, pg 70)

Two large eye movements were found on the polygraph and the results were sent to the Association for the Psychophysiological Study of Sleep. But then the research began to come up against skepticism by reviewers in the journal where LaBerge and his mentor Lynn Nagel tried to publish. A reviewer for the <i>Science</i> Journal kept saying that it was impossible and therefore invalid, not on technical grounds, but philosophical ones! But they continued research, doubling efforts and finally by around 1981 the sleep research community could no longer deny the evidence.

Now lucid dreaming is a large sub-branch of dreaming in general. The lucid dreaming papers and symposiums are quite popular at the annual ASD (Association for the Study of Dreams) conventions and besides the Lucidity Institute in Palo Alto, there are multitudes of smaller groups run by interested and informed individuals. The Internet has spawned not only several web sites devoted to lucid dreaming, but two newsgroups, alt.dreams.lucid and alt.dreams.castaneda which continually discuss lucid dreaming.

The benefits of learning and practicing lucid dreaming are still being debated, but some positive trends are becoming clear. Generally, they follow the benefits of becoming mindful & conscious in general:

? Nightmare Control. Bringing consciousness to dreams allows the dreamer to feel more empowered. This can be especially helpful to those who suffer from nightmares.

? Increase Life Expectancy. Usually we see this increase as living longer. But what if you could be conscious an extra 10% of your sleeping time and feel more refreshed than ever?

? Amazing Adventure for Free. How often in waking life do we get the chance to fly, to breath under water, to walk through walls and cuddle up next to movie stars?

?Rehearsal. Just as practice visualization helps before an event, so to can rehearsal in a dream.

? Health. Lucid dreamers tend to resist disease more and have shorter periods of illness when they are sick.

? Advance Enlightenment. Many lucid researchers have now connected lucid dreaming with states of consciousness promoted by Tibetan Buddhism.

Lucid dreaming, which once shared the shelf with esoteric and occult beliefs, has now been brought out onto the table of verifiable knowledge and teachable skills. We now have the platter before us, and a nightly feast awaits.

Easy Steps to Lucid Dreaming
by Lars Spivock

? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ?

Lucid dreaming occurs when you are both dreaming and aware you are dreaming in the dream. It has become the fastest growing area of the dream movement and by far the most popular. Though the techniques have been taught in other cultures for many centuries, it was not until the last couple of decades that lucid dreaming was widely recognized by academic psychologists as a measurable state and teachable skill.

While the actual advantages are still being debated, some clearly useful benefits have emerged, including nightmare reduction, fun adventures, spiritual quests and healing testimonies.
Lucid dreaming can occur spontaneously, but why wait? There are many techniques that have been developed by researchers to increase the chances of having a lucid dream. Here is a summary and condensation of the most popular techniques.

* Throughout the day, ask yourself "Am I Dreaming?" and imagine something wonderful you could be doing in your dream - this is your dream goal. Use your watch or something you notice often as a reminder to ask yourself if you are dreaming. Limit excitement, food, drink, and exercise for several hours before bedtime. Drinking plain water, sex, and small amounts of caffeine may be beneficial.

* Arrange your dream space with inspirational items. Keep your journaling materials, writing or taping, bedding, and blinds in good working order. In the hour before sleep, have only relaxing thoughts and activities. Write the date and your goal dream in your journal. Just before sleep, with your eyes closed, review your goal dream and affirm to wake up after each dream.

* As you awaken from a dream, memorize it in detail before you open your eyes or change your body position. Record it in your journal. If you are not ready to fall back asleep, get up and do something for a while.

* As you fall back asleep, repeatedly imagine your last dream, recognizing that you are dreaming and guiding the outcome. Your continuation of the dream may involve boldly confronting an adversary. You can transform yourself into any object, animal or human role. You can transform someone or something else in the dream. You can apply elements from your goal dream.

* When you recognize you are dreaming, calmly enjoy the unfolding of the dream. Optionally perform a reality test by levitating and calmly begin guiding the outcome. When your lucidity begins to fade away, spin your dream body and affirm to start your goal dream when lucidity returns.

* Favor waking up to birdsongs instead of an alarm radio set to the news. Upon waking, keep your eyes closed and remain motionless for a few minutes while reviewing your dreams from the night before. Then make your journal entries, even if only fragments. Keep a notepad with you during the day to record dream memories triggered by various activities.

Have a relaxed attitude of acceptance towards the outcome. Sooner or later, you will be rewarded with better dream recall and wonderful dreams.

Here are some ideas for goal dreams.

You supply the important specific details to suit yourself:

• entertainment - fly to the moon or travel through time

• romance - have a romantic encounter

• healing - diagnose or heal yourself or a friend

• problem solving - solve a work-related or social problem

• creativity - create a work of art

• spirituality - talk to god

• enlightenment - learn about yourself or the unconscious

• out of body - visit another place or someone else's dream

• self-indulgence - gluttony or shopping binges

• sleep - end nightmares or draining dreams

Lucid dreaming has become one of the most popular dream movement methods for empowering those who wish to have more conscious contact with their health, world and happiness. While increasing the number of lucid dreams requires some attention and focus, the efforts and techniques for bringing this about are in themselves of great benefit for mindfulness, self awareness and awareness of the world we happen to be inhabiting, awake or asleep.

This month ?The Six Basic Steps to Lucid Dreaming .?

Step 2 : Increasing dream recall

The Six Basic Steps by Marc Vandekeere

The following is an excerpt from my manual, The Ultimate Lucid Dreaming Manual Basics and Beyond. I hope it can be used to maximize your lucid dreaming progress. If you find this information helpful you may want to check out my lucid dreaming website for further info, tips, resources and more. The URL of my site is http://how.to/luciddream and if you have any questions, feedback or comments, feel free to send me an email. I'm always happy to hear from other dreamers and love to help out. if and when I can, thelucidbird@mediaone.net . Stay lucid.

So now we've come to the payoff. In order to make this material more user-friendly, the information has been divided into four categories, and there will also be an summarized outline at the end of the manual. By getting an overview at a glance, it may be easier for you to thoroughly learn, absorb and internalize all the information. Hopefully, it will help tighten all the concepts into one working whole.

The Process
Section One - The Six Basic Steps
Section Two - Other methods
Section Three - General tips
Section Four - Tools and Tactics

All these sections have one objective - teaching you how to become lucid in your dreams. After you've learned the process, methods, tips, tools, and tactics, we'll cover the more advanced techniques that you will need to know once you become lucid.

The Process

There are many techniques and methods that you can use for inducing lucid dreams, but there are basically two different ways of becoming lucid. You can either have dream-induced or wake-induced lucid dreams. Stephen LaBerge coined the term D.I.L.D. (Dream Induced Lucid Dream) for dreams in which you become lucid while within a dream. By training your awareness, you will somehow realize that you are dreaming while you are dreaming. This is by far the most common way of having a lucid dream, but it is also possible to directly enter a lucid dream from a waking state. These Wake Induced Lucid Dreams, or W.I.L.D.s, are far more rare, but as LaBerge so aptly labeled them, they are quite an experience. While covering the basics we will be dealing primarily with dream induced lucid dreams. When we move beyond the basics, we will be dealing with the more

advanced techniques that will include inducing W.I.L.D.s. There are many methods to induce lucid dreams, but there is an underlying process behind most if not all of them. I've broken this underlying process down into six basic steps that will serve as our beginning regime. Once you absorb these steps and start following them, it is only a matter of time before you have your first lucid dream. In case you are wondering how long it will take for you to have you first one, just follow through with the steps and have faith that you will have one.

According to statistics, the time it takes for someone to have their first lucid dream averages from three weeks to two months, but yours may be tonight so don't be discouraged if you try for a while and don't succeed. There seems to be an obsession in our society for instant results. If you are one of these people, realize that this is one of your first obstacles to overcome. Only one thing is certain - If you never stop trying, you are guaranteed to succeed.

The Six Basic Steps

1) Doing the Mental Prep-Work - see Electric Dreams 7(4) April 2000
2) Increasing dream recall -FOCUS THIS MONTH
3) Keeping a dream journal

4) Becoming familiar with your Dreams
5) Adding Awareness to your Waking Consciousness
6) Linking your Awareness to your Dreams

Step Two) Increasing Dream Recall

As mentioned earlier, if you can?t remember your dreams it makes it that much harder to have lucid ones so this step focuses on increasing your dream recall. You may be one of the fortunate ones who remember a lot of dreams, but if you are not, don?t be discouraged. There are many tried and tested methods for developing your dream recall. There are so many effective tips for increasing dream recall that you can count on remembering more and more of your dreams within a few weeks of disciplined practice.
For starters, do you really want to remember your dreams? Why? Could you be subconsciously blocking your own recall because you may be afraid of what you see? These are legitimate questions to be asking yourself. Be honest with yourself. You must make the commitment to yourself to increase your dream recall because it is important to you and it is something that you want to develop. You need to make it a conscious priority. After taking this step, it is just a matter of incorporating these techniques into your morning schedule.

Here is a list of tips and techniques that will help increase your dream recall:

1.) Wake Motionlessly. Upon awakening, don?t open your eyes. Don?t move. Lie completely still. Stay in the exact position you are in upon awakening and attempt to remember your dreams without moving a muscle.

2.) Wake Slowly. Allow yourself time to naturally remember your dreams. Don?t start thinking about what you are going to do for the day. Don?t allow your mind to be flooded by your waking thoughts or your dreams will start fading or may even disappear entirely like bursting dream bubbles. Let your mind be focused on whatever you were just dreaming.

3.) Let your mind drift. Allow your thoughts to meander through whatever mental imagery you may have. Once you remember one part of a dream. Relax and allow the rest of the pieces to fall into place.

4.) Drift through your dream checklist. If you have absolutely no initial recall then you should start running through a dream checklist in your mind. This list should include people you know, activities, places, foods, smells, music, anything that may trigger a dream fragment to surface. Allow your mind to drift through this list and ask yourself if this person or this place was in your dream. Movement is very common in dreams so try to think about action. Were you walking or running or climbing or flying? Emotions are also very prevalent so try to think about your moods. Were you happy or afraid or surprised or confused? The more familiar you become with your dreams the better you will know which questions will most likely trigger your memory, but in the beginning you can use any list as long as it is a big one.

4.) Think and question backwards. Try to work your memory backwards from what you can remember. You will usually remember the most current dream scenario first so for maximum retrieval it is helpful to think backwards, or think in terms of effect and cause instead of cause and effect. If you can remember one part of the dream, ask yourself how you got there? Or where did a certain dream object come from? Did you find it? Was it given to you? One dream fragment will usually lead to another until the whole dream starts to take shape. You can increase your dream recall by questioning yourself about what you already remember.

5.) Try different sleeping positions. After awakening

and remaining motionless for long enough to remember all that you can of your dreams, try all of your common sleeping positions before getting out of bed to maximize your recall. You will have the best recall when you are lying in the same position that you were in while you were dreaming. If you wake up on your right side don?t move until you recall all you possibly can, and then repeat this process on your left side, then your back, and then on your front. This may jar loose some memories and it certainly will speeds up your recall.

6.) Keep Trying. Sometimes, you may have no morning recall but flashes of dream memories will surface during your day. Be prepared to remember or write down any time-released memories. They may unlock your access to even more memories.

7.) Ask yourself to remember your dreams. This may sound silly or too simple to be effective, but it is a very powerful tool. Before going to bed, set up a desire to remember your dreams, and simply ask yourself to remember your dreams. Whenever I have foggy recall for a few days in a row, I use this technique and it usually produces great results.

If you are still having trouble recalling your dreams, here is a sure-fire method that will have your remembering your dreams in no time. We know that most of our dreams occur in the last hours of our sleep so we can safely assume that this is the target time to be exercising our recall. We also know that we have a much greater likelihood of remembering a dream if we awaken directly from it, and this leads us to the ultimate method for maximizing your dream recall, the Alarm Clock Method.

The Alarm Clock Method: Using an alarm clock is one of the quickest and easiest ways to start increasing your dream recall especially if you rarely remember your dreams. The idea is to set your alarm for a time when you will be dreaming and awaken yourself directly from a dream while fresh memories are still in your head. The earlier morning hours are the best time to use this method since this is when you are most likely to be dreaming. Your alarm clock will become a valuable tool for increasing your dream recall, and in a later section I will mention how it can be used to induce lucid dreams. Here are a few ways to take full advantage of your alarm clock. Try them all to see what works best for you.

?The Early Morning Technique? Set your alarm for two hours before you normally would awaken. When it goes off, reset it to go off in a half an hour. Do this each time it goes off and you will have instant and plentiful recall. This is one of the most effective techniques because it takes full advantage of your natural dreaming cycle and it creates a daily target time when you habitually practice your dreaming skills. These few hours before you normally would awaken are going to become your new training grounds. This target time zone will be described in much greater detail when we cover lucid dream induction methods and again when we take a look at the lucid dream terrain.
Depending on how poor your recall is you may want to immediately write down your dreams each time the alarm awakens you. If you don?t, you may experience what I refer to as ?dream superimposition?. It happens when you wake up during the night and have vivid recall of your dreams. Your memories are so vivid that you are sure you will remember them later; however, when you go back to bed you have even more dreams and upon reawakening the most recent dream memories have replaced the previous ones. As a result, those once vivid details are now foggy or even completely erased. As you exercise your dream recall your memory will become better and consequently less dream superimposition will take place, but even after years of training it still happens to me sporadically.

?The Waking at Odd Hours Technique? This technique is pretty self-explanatory. Set your alarm to go off at any random times throughout the night. The major advantage of this technique is that if you are extremely eager to develop your dreaming skills you may not want to settle for only two hours of practice a day. You can use this technique along with the previous one to maximize your exercise. If you are someone who needs a good night of uninterrupted sleep than this technique may not be for you, but if you can bear the intermittent buzzing the results will be well worth the effort.

?The Snooze Button Method? Set your alarm for a time before you would normally wake up and then continually hit the snooze button until you have to get out of bed. This is probably the most common technique, and the odds are that you have already had some experience with this one unless your alarm does not have a snooze button. By hitting the snooze button you are constantly coming in and out of dreams so you dramatically increase your recall, and it is very helpful for inducing lucid dreams as well, but let?s not get too far ahead of ourselves. We need to increase our dream recall before we can start focusing on inducing lucid dreams, and this leads us to one of the most significant steps of all, keeping a dream journal.

Next Month : Keeping a dream journal

For more information about lucid dreaming, brainwave entrainment and if you would like to get involved in some group lucid dreaming research, please surf your way over to my lucid dreaming website at http://how.to/luciddream
Check the link to The Dream Initiative website for info on getting involved. We are always on the lookout for a few good dreamers, and even if you're not so good at it yet, it certainly helps to have the support and input from others who are interested.

"Super Mom"

Dear Dream Doctor,

I have a recurring dream every few months or so that I have had for years. In the dream I realize that it is the end of a semester, and I have forgotton to go to math class the whole semester and am very worried about failing. Sometimes I'm in college, (where I did fail a math class), but more often I'm in high school, (where I did very well in math, but had some conflicts with two teachers).

It is always math, never another subject. Once, it was so realistic, (when I was still in college), I woke up in the middle of the night and located my schedule to convince myself I hadn't signed up for the math course.

Also, if I can bother you some more, my 7-year-old daughter woke up last night with a bad dream. She dreamed we were at a festival and I ran away from her and she kept calling my name but I wouldn't come back and she was all alone.

Do you think I've done something to make her feel like I'm running away from her? She's my only child. I felt so guilty and sad even though it was her dream.

Thanks for your help.

--Lisa, Age 33, Female, Married, Okemas, MI, USA

Hi Lisa -

Believe it or not, I think your two dreams are related, and I'll tell you why.

"Back to school" dreams are incredibly common among busy people. Doctors, lawyers, professionals, busy housewives - nearly everyone has had one. (Do an informal survey among your friends - you'll be surprised how many of them will say, "Oh yeah! I've had that dream!")

Your dreams clearly stem from your anxiety - no doubt born in college - about being able to pass your math tests. The common thread, though, is that we all felt that same anxiety when we prepared to take a test - no matter what the subject was. Will we pass? Are we prepared? Did we remember to study everything?

Now that we've grown up and the days of test taking are long in our past, the dreams strike us as odd. Surely we can't still be traumatized about taking some test in college? The link, though, is that our everyday life still is full of similar "tests" and anxieties. Will we be able to complete all the errands we have to do tomorrow? Will we be able to grocery shop, clean the house, and pick up our kids from school - in time to cart them off to soccer practice?

If we work (in addition to all our everyday tasks) we have a second set of anxieties. Will we finish our work projects on time? Will our co-workers think we have done a good job? Will we keep our jobs? Will we "pass the test?"

Are you beginning to see the connection? The anxiety we feel in our everyday lives reminds us of the anxiety we felt back in high school or college before an exam. We're about to be tested, and we wonder if we can keep up!

Because you're a busy Mom, it's normal that your daughter feels she occasionally doesn't get to see you as much as she would like. The fact that you've written in here to ask about your dream, however, to me indicates a "caring for" Mom rather than a "running away" Mom. Your daughter sees a mom who is always running, but I think it is clear you are a mom who is running for her daughter - not away from her.

Congrats on being a Super Mom. You're daughter is a lucky child. Your care will be reflected in her life forever.

An Astrological Approach to Dream Interpretation
By Maria Mateus

??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

When I first began recording my dreams and trying to interpret them ? many years ago ? I thought they were so absurd and strange and seemed to follow no apparent rules, that I often despaired of ever finding any meaning in them at all. Occasionally I would give up, but the dreams would inevitably call me back. At the same time I threw myself into reading about dreams and other symbolic systems and found that the language of images began to make sense to me. I was especially fascinated with the flexibility and depth of the astrological symbols and the way the Zodiac so elegantly portrayed the evolutionary experience of existence.

It was only after several years of working both systems separately that I began to experiment with combining them. Jung once said that you could not work with dreams without a solid knowledge of mythology; for me, a solid knowledge of the astrological archetypes turned out to be a key that opened up a treasure chest of dream symbolism. All three systems are different ways of expressing meaning in story and image ? like parables ? and the planets are really astrological representations of the Gods of myth as well. Astrology lends itself well to dream work because the same basic archetype can be discerned through different levels of interpretation: as an object or event; as an emotion or psychological state; and as a spiritual lesson (?Levels of Awareness in the Structure of Astrology?, M. Mateus). So objects and events in dreams also often contain within them a psychological state and emotion, and the spiritual lesson which correlates with both.

Personal Strategies and Method

When I work with my dreams, I always use a hierarchical approach that starts with the more general and moves inward toward the more specific details. The first thing I do after writing down my dream in my journal is to give it a short title that best describes its content. This not only helps to index it in your journal and identify repeating themes, but it also helps you figure out what the focus is of the dream.

Structure

After giving it a title, I move to the next level and look at the whole structure of the dream. How many scenes are there? Where does the story start and where does it end? What is the skeletal framework of the dream? Often the action of the dream will tell you how the energy is flowing and in what direction. At this point I deliberately avoid describing any symbols or details. What I am more concerned with here is with the nouns and verbs of the dream. For example: I am in a house, I have a conflict, and I am then in a train station. In this dream there are 2 scenes, the conflict being the point at which one scene develops into another. This is important as a change in scene often denotes a change in psychological state in the interpretation of the dream. While dreams do not contain a sense of absolute time as we know it, they do have an capacity to depict development and evolution ? in other words, change. Sometimes the whole dream takes place within one scene. In this case, movement and energy flow has to be looked at within that scene. For example: I am in a house, then a man enters the room, then he yells at me. If the dream is a static one, such as: I am looking at a tree that is in bloom ? and that?s all there is to it ? then the skeleton can be more descriptive of what is in the image. But even in this case, the outline has as few details as possible.

Interpreting Symbols

Once I have established the outline, I then select one or two of the most obvious symbols of the dream. These will usually be the nouns featured in the title. I would not pick out any of the people in the dream unless it centers around one person, such as in a nightmare where you are being persecuted by a menacing character throughout the whole dream. People in dreams are usually (though not always) personality aspects of ourselves, while dream objects are symbolic of states, situations and themes. If there are scenes that are completely different, even though one scene led into the next, I would select a key symbol from each scene. So that if in one scene you are trying on shoes and in the next you are on an escalator in the department store, I would select the shoes and the escalator as the 2 symbols I?d work on first.

There are two approaches to symbol work that I use: one is astrological, the other is psychoanalytical. The psychoanalytical approach is the method used by Jung and Freud. In this technique, we think of what comes to mind when we think of that symbol and explore that association and any others that relate directly to it. The associations have to meaningful to us in some way. Associating to a symbol is not the same as free-associating to it, as is often depicted on
television. It is not as simple as saying ?sunrise? that reminds me of ?sunset?, which reminds me of Fidler on the Roof, which reminds me of Jews etc. You could go on like that indefinitely. The association has to be meaningful and personal: I saw slides of beautiful sunsets at my girlfriend?s house yesterday and we got into an argument over them. That symbol would then be associated with an experience of conflict that would most likely tie into the dream interpretation in some way. The association can also go back to an experience that happened years earlier or in childhood but it might have been triggered recently by some other association that links the two. Ex: I dreamt of a little girl in a red coat. When I was young I had a red coat that I hated that my mother made me wear. But also last night I watched Schindler?s List where a girl appears wearing a red coat. In both cases the symbol is tied to feelings of subjugation, control and persecution. Perhaps this person was feeling persecuted in some relationship at present. This symbol was bringing her back to those feeling via two different routes. It was this feeling that triggered the use of that symbol because they are synchronous. Synchronous events and their symbols are rooted in meaning.

This is where astrology comes in. There is a natural affinity (synchronicity) between certain objects or events and the different signs of the Zodiac. While there are compendiums of these astrological associations on sale, usually with some perceptive intuition you can figure out what the sign is by its function in the dream and also by the other circumstances in the surrounding scene. So in our shoes example above, let?s say that in the dream they are green and there is also some dispute with the sales clerk about the price. Even if we do not know what archetype correlates with shoes, we know that Taurus is the sign that represents money and items of material worth. We also might know that green and brown are both colors associated with this sign because Taurus is the first sign of the earth element and stands for nature, the earth, stability, and grounding. The shoes would most likely be associated with this sign as well, because they are what provides our contact with the earth, they are our foundation and what physically grounds us. Incredibly, I have found that there is a tremendous amount of internal consistency between the symbols within a dream scene; the same sign will often show up under various guises. I would use the same process for the main symbol in any other scene. So what good is knowing what sign associates with a dream symbol? Knowing what sign is involved automatically tells us the psychological context of that scene. It is most likely that a dream or scene about Taurus, will involve issues of security, peace of mind, comfort and/or money, even if all you see is a bull rushing at you from a green pasture. The astrological approach is invaluable when you can?t associate to a symbol from a personal perspective, which often happens with archetypes. Archetypes are part of the collective unconscious, rather than the personal one. I think we tap into both in our dreams.

The collective archetypes are cast into our dreams at times in which they are relevant. All dream content is context dependent. That is, the meaning derived from them always relates to the present circumstances in our lives and in our psyche. What we dream, is the psyche?s interpretation of these events and life situations. So a dream interpretation has to be made within the context of our waking life, much like the waking life reflects the psyche?s interpretation of it. What is within mirrors what is without and what is without is a reflection of what is within. This is also true astrologically ? since that too is a synchronous representation of what is within the psyche. In fact, the symbols chosen in the dream ? which relate to a psychological context ? are most likely those natal planets, signs or houses in the dreamer?s birth chart being transited at the time of the dream. Often, looking at the transits for the date of the dream can clue you in to the area of the chart that is being worked on in the waking life. The personal chart and the Zodiac illustrate the themes, while the dream itself offers the details and developmental impetus. Together they are great tools for self-awareness.

Dreaming Through the Houses: 5th House

Have you ever wondered how dreams and astrology are connected?

There are many ways we can connect dreams to astrology, and many don't require that you know all about your Natal Chart. In this column we will be exploring the symbolic rather than predictive aspects of astrology. Symbolic astrology attempts to use the images of astrological to give meaning to one's life and empower choices rather than predict paths. We do this by imaginal overlay. In this process we impleach, (poetically interweave) dream, image, feeling, life and symbol in a way to evoke a felt sense of the dream's imagery and its position in our life.

This year we are focusing each month on a different House. The inner circle of the Natal or Birth Chart is divided into 12 distinct regions know as Houses. They relate to everyday activates. One will be about physical appearances and temperament, while another relates to possessions, for example. Planets and signs fall within these Houses and influence the areas of focus. We will be watching for images of planets, signs and other celestial events and hopefully begin to see the emergence of an astrological chart that dips into birth charts, dreams, and our waking life.

The Fifth House traditionally includes such areas as pleasures and amusements, love affairs, children, creativity and self-expression, speculation and investments. What is the thread? Being Leo and the reflection of the Sun and thus conscious ego, it might be seen as the area where an individual can be uniquely and completely oneself. Feelings, desires, ideas and activities are all full of one=s own essence where there is no compromise with otherness. Through creative self-expression, the meaning of ones own identity can appear. Often the Fifth House is called the House of Love, but perhaps it would be better characterized as the House of Romance. Here we can project ourselves fully into the other and experience a love that reveals peeks at our own inner center.

Dream: ?He came into my dark bedroom and I could clearly see only the red tulip he carried. I knew we would spend the night together. We began nibbling the tulip, bumping noses and laughing, both finding the game so funny. He was so easy to play with, I couldn?t believe it, it was like we had always been playing together.?

Perhaps the natural instincts in the dream are emblematic of the intuitive perception in this House, intuition of one?s completeness or total psyche. There is that special kind of intuition that comes from reflecting on oneself and one=s creations, though not an intellectual grasp. It is more the kind of understanding that brings us closer to the experience.

A problem in the Fifth House erects barriers between and individual and his/her self realization. Generally these will appear first as shadowy elements. Children may have dreams of bad animals, adults of intrusions of characters that seem morally inferior, who bug us and who we would rather die than think we are like. More abstract symbols might be circulations where the flow is block, like water not being able to circulate, or breaks in land and vehicular travel. More emotionally, dreams where the dreamer gives and gives, but doesn?t receive may appear. Or audiences that don?t respond, possible love encounters where there is rejection, being disconnected from one?s creations or children.

Dream: I?m leading a team of archeologists and I push the team through many perils before reaching the ancient tomb. The team doesn?t seem to appreciate how much I have helped them. We open the tomb and find many rooms of treasure, yet all the time I sense it is all worthless and pointless and feel no joy in all we have achieved. I?m repulsed at first at how the team is running around excited by all the treasure, but then become amused and begin to see them like kids in a candy store.

Salvation for those afflicted in the Fifth House will usually come from being able to shift their wounded self attention to the joy of others. This is difficult since envy can be very prevalent. In the above dream, the dreamer is pushy and achievement oriented, and all the treasures in the world cannot connect him (?) with himself. A glimmer of hope appears as the attention shifts to the joy of the others.

M. Aionia

>>>New Weekly Dream Column to Debut May 15

Third Age Media is a company devoted to covering the needs and interests of those people in the third age of life (between the ages of 45-64). The company is moving towards media convergence, with an extensive website, CBS ( a primary investor), print, radio, and more. Their website [www.thirdage.com] received 24 million pageviews

last month from the 1 million visitors to the site. They have just signed on Dr. Robert L. Van de Castle to host a weekly dream column dealing with relationship issues as they are expressed in ,and dealt with , in dreams. Bob, the author of OUR DREAMING MIND, is well known to the dream community , having served as a former president of ASD and a host for two ASD conferences in Charlottesville, VA.

His weekly column will contain informative articles about dream topics that have relevance for understanding relationships, and he will also provide a weekly "commentary" ( note that the words analysis and interpretation are not used ) on some viewer's dreams. Viewers will submit at least two recent dreams, complete some biographical information , and answer 5 "projective questions( earliest childhood memory etc.) The third age audience will be able to examine the same materials from which Bob is making his commentary, so they hopefully can have a "you are there" experience, as they observe how he uses his 38 years of experience with dreams to create his commentary. Bob's commentaries and articles will be preserved in an online archive , so viewers can check that record source for previous material they may have missed .

Plans are also being made to preserve all the dreams and background data submitted by dreamers from around the globe, and turning these records over to ASD for research purposes . This data pool could be a treasure trove for students wishing to carry out research projects on this selected age group ("Baby Boomers"), because there
would be such extensive information available on each dreamer.

Dream Title FRESHWATER
Date of Dream Reoccuring

This is a dream that comes close to twice a week and sometimes every night of the week. Me and my younger brother are bodyboarding at Freshwater beach on a clear blue sky day. The waves are there, but it is as if the ocean sinks and the waves are just left there. Almost inevitablely, my brother sinks into the ocean. I try to save him, but the ocean where I am padding in is the only ocean, where land has grown up all around. I can't stand up, I just keep on paddling in the sand. He is still sinking and I hear him chanting my name, not screaming or in pain, almost in reassurance. I know I can't save him and I know that he knows. I always wake up at that moment. The moment that he knows that I can't save him. Comments by Dreamer

COMMENTS: In your waking life, you have either been entertaining the possibility that you and your ex might have a future together, or that you have feelings for him. The dream is obliging you to acknowledge that there is no future together and/or he means nothing to you.

This is your classic anti-anxiety film. In your waking life, perhaps more because of what you've heard as opposed to what you've observed, you have been conditioned to fear, or hesitate from doing LSD. The dream is telling you that your fears are unfounded, that, "based on what you' ve observed" (your boyfriend has done it many times without apparently experiencing adverse effects), that it's not such a big deal (you fall asleep after 5 minutes).

Disclaimer: This interpretation is in no way encouraging you to experiment with LSD.

I am a 20 year old single mother who is in the military and a very steady relationship with my daughters father. Lately i have been having a very disturbing dream, but the most odd aspect of my dream is that i feel calm the whole time.

It begins with me and my boyfriend married and asleep in bed. Our daughter is 2 ( in reality she is 5 motnhs old) I don't know how i know she is 2 i just do. For some reason i wake up and look out my bedroom door and see this woman, who i know is the nanny. She has my daughter i nher arms and is walking to the bathroom. My daughter is bleeding and is limo in her arms. Instead of freaking (which i would do in real life) i wake up and thats when i realize that i am about 8 months pregnant. I walk to the bathroom and see the nanny over my daughter, she is in the bathtub and is obviously dead. The nanny has this dagger and is chanting something over my daughter, then she turns to me and begins to stab me. I don't feel anything, and don't say anything i just go back to bed. I try to wake my husband up but he is not responding. Thats when the nanny comes and stands over me and begins chanting. I ask her calmly why and she explains that she needed an innocent to sacrifice to satan a nd that she needs to kill me and take my unborn baby so that satan can come back and use my baby's body. And then i simply die. calmly.

I have had this dream several times and it's horribly disturbing. I can't figure out what in the world is going on. I have seen that sacrifices means that i am going in the worng direction, but the most disturbing thing is that i am so calm.
Any ideas?

Thanks so much for your help

Comments by Dreamer I have this dream at least 2 times a week for the last three weeks. It's so vivid and i almost understand what the woman is saying, but i am baptist.

Dan Herman

I asked for a dream that would take me out of body. This is what I normally do when I induce an OBE.

Then I see myself in a park ground, say, Central Park, NYC. I don't know if it's that, but it's very late night, there are lights on in the park, and there appeared to be people outdoors, like there was some type of event going on(running?).

Then I find myself looking up, and I see something bigger than the moon, slightly bigger, high in the sky, maybe 60-65 degrees in the sky. It is shaped like a large planet, with a silvery color to it, and a large hole in the middle. Larger than the moon at full view. I immediately stop my breathing, and ask for the wisdom to know why this is happening. I heard the words of Dan Rather in my head "This indeed is heaven on earth!"

At 2:12 EST the lights went out, making it impossible to see in front of my face. But the moon was out, nearly full, and just to the left of it an object. The time was 2:13 AM. At 2:36 AM the object changed in shape, with a very divine light, it took the shape of a dirigible for few moments, then widened even more, the light pattern reached closer as a beam, and I believe it became something of a projector, as it flashed shades of different colors together, making these patterns. I don't remember at all what they were, but I intuied beauty, art, and aesthetic feelings from it. Then the light was removed, and the object was left. I don't know of this was my vision or everyone saw this.

I intuited the name of the object, started with a G, long name.(Ganymede?) People weren't exactly scared, maybe the aware ones knew of this "beautiful" vision too?

Now I saw myself in a house in NJ, not mine. staring at it. From a window, there were some lights, but otherwise there were little lights going on/off, they were cameras that wanted to get this miraculous sighting. Because it was such a foreboding sight, there were a series of fire engines and police cars. I didn't see their lights, but they were going in all directions to control the population and see if there was anything suspicious.

At 7:36, exactly 5 hours later, the object, which kept the same shape and position in the sky, disappeared. I immediately saw the sky in the most beautiful colors of blue with pink clouds, as if sunset, but this was defiinitely sunrise!

One cloud in particular stretched to half the sky, with the shape of a flounder.

I looked around and realized that my environment was a very large, roman like amputheatre. it almost resembeled an old greek theatre. anyways, there were a few people on stage and i got the impression that they were very important and very good/professional at what they did. the director of the play seemed to be some kind of college professor and a very important man. i was sitting at the far end of the amputheatre, across from the stage and they started yelling at me. suddenly i was on the stage getting thrashed at by all these people. finnaly after getting off the stage i sat down in the same spot, ecept it was a high arc. several hundreds of feet in the air. I sat with my back to the stage talking to people, i couldn't see who they were, but i was very comfortable with talking to them. for some reason my fear of hights suddenly kicked in and i screamed in fear and wanted to get down, except when i went to get down i had to leap to get to the ! ! closest concret bleacher set. finally i got the courage up and did it. just then i woke up.

hi! i had a really kinda interesting one about an automon, about three years ago. in the dream i was in a room(like the star trek'the cage') i was in the room at the computer, designing a man.im the dream,it was like the holosuite,as i put in the information, the automoton was being built to my specifications.a 'real man' walked through the porthole and was studieing the 'creature' i had created, and i was ashamed.he was studieing the 'non real' man that i had created and was takeing notes, but no matter how hard i tried the computer would not delete. *i took this dream to symbolize an'ideal.vs.reality'what i was looking for in a romantic partner was unrealistic, and that no man could ever live up to my ideal man.hope this is what you wanted.

1) I had woken up to a computer screen in front of me.My thought was "wow a computer",at this stage I didn't have one.

2) Next thing the word MESSAGE came up,all in capital letter's.I of course went "oh wow a message".

3) Then the word DARBY ,This I assumed to be a persons name.

4) Then the word TELEPHONE.This I sensed was communications.

5) Then two words MORSE CODE.This again I said "Military"

6) Then another two words CLIFF / FALLS.

Then I saw a beautiful lush green and very thick forest. It was also as if I was above this forest ,also it also looked as if it was a gorge???.

7) Last but not least was the word NECKLACE.Before I had a chance to say anything I was being shown a necklace. It looked old ??,and seemed thick, solid??,and maybe made of brass ???.It was like a lot of round balls joined together. Then I was shown the medallion on the end of it.This was really funny I remembered saying"I must remember this ,so when I wake up I remember this and I can put it in my dream journal .This medallion was also given to me in another dream

8)This last part is a bit of a worry.I was above looking down on this really old looking room, the floor was made of wood ,bare wood, there on the ground was a circle ,with lines going through it.And around the edge of the circle were symbols, again I remembered saying to myself"I must remember these symbols so when I wake up I can find out what they are and mean. Then it was like a zooming in affect and there in the middle of this circle was a baby. This took me aback a little. The baby was crying or screaming???,again this sort of took me aback,I could not hear the baby's cry's.Then like the medallion who ever was with me zoomed onto the baby's genitals,I had the feeling they wanted me to see that it was a girl??.This is when I was going through a slight turmoil,it seemed I was trying to figure out if this baby was me ???.

9) The next minute I saw myself at the age I was 31 or 32 ??.I was dressed in a long purple dress and I was doing exactly what the baby was doing,I was kicking and screaming or crying ??.

The next morning when I woke up,the dream was as strong as ever,in fact I turned to my partner ,woke him up and said "guess what ,I had a dream last night " and I rattled it off word for .The trouble was the parts that I remember saying I must remember this I couldn't for the life of me!!.

I had a really strange dream a few nights ago. I want to do commercials, but I haven't gotten an agent yet so I can't audition for them. Anyway, here is the dream. I was shooting a commercial for a product that I think was something to do with infertility...I was supposed to be the daughter of the woman "using" the product. Through the whole dream I kept telling myself "I must be dreaming!" and "How did I get here" but somehow it seemed so real. I remember seeing the woman jogging on the porch and then coming into the kitchen and then I said something and she showed me whatever product it was. Then, we were snacking on something on the set and these dancers were outside. I think that they were wearing Mexican clothes or something but they were doing a dance where the men and women hold hands a lot. After that, I woke up VERY dissappointed that I didn't actually shoot a commercial. It was so vivid that it seemed real. Can anyone explain this?

Comments by Dreamer Please explain this dream because it has been bothering me and I don't know if it was predicting the future or just another hopeful dream. It was so completely real that I felt and touched and smelt everything.

Nobody can help them they are already broken & nobody can repair them.

I run away crying to my car where I am in a time crunch I have to give back the car to its owner....I am back to Division & Wood I am driving 120mph & the skies parts thru & starts to thunderstorm an electrical storm but I am not scared I just have to get the car back...

i drop off the car across town where i hop into the same cab with the same cab driver who takes me back to Division & Wood at this point I know it has been a long day & i try to primp & I pull out the shards of glass from my arms & legs & when I do I feel a release & immense pleasure I am worried about my apperance but i am just concerned with getting back to Divison & Wood where there is a private party at the coffee house where as before the coffeehouse was indie artists now it was chichi & upscale with silver balloons tied to the trees where I run into my friends who are succesful musicaian but i have not seen in 5 years The 1st person to approach me I loved deeply but wasn't close to but he came up to me before the man who I had a 6 yr relationship with & it wasn't a party regarding music but a book signing I can't talk because i have shards of glass in my tongue so i have to write it down & then only do i then speak to the other man but I who appears to just shove me away but the one who I truly loved but wasn't involved with who i wrote down the information for was all about me & we chatted it up all night even though i still had the chards of glass in my tongue & then it ended.

Dream Title Ever felt like you were having someone elses dream by Call Thrusholme
Date of Dream Autumn 99

This is a dream I had a good few months ago. The dream began with me in a church. I was not myself, but, a priest. I was hearing the confession of a man, who was telling me about how he had upset some group or organisation. My memory of this is vague, but the general feeling I have of it, was that this group was a powerful and dangerous organisation.

He left, and then it was as if the dream moved forward in time, without my noticing of course. Outside on the steps of the church, clutching to her Father, was the daughter of the man who'd been in confession.

He'd been shot, and was bleeding badly. He asked me if I would look after his daughter, I promised that I would, and took her into the church with me.

Again the dream seemed to skip forward in time. I was under seige in the church. The group, for whatever reason, seemed to be after the daughter who was still in my care. On of the attackers came into the church, armed with a weapon, and out of instinct I disarmed him and we fled.

I remember having this terrible moral confliction between following my faith, and protecting the child with the force it appeared I was going to have to use, if I wanted to keep my promise to the dying man.

In the back area behind the church was a vinyard like area, with a green house, that we were being pursued over. As we ran, I decided that I would avoid any force if at all possible, and discarded the shotgun.

This was where the dream ended.

Comments by Dreamer This dream sticks in my memory since it is quite unlike my standard dreams. First of all, I'd like to point out that I am not religious, nor do I have any children in my care or who I'd feel responsible over which makes this dream seem all the more remarkable.

If the background information helps, I was nineteen at the time of the dream and am male. I dream quite often, and still have relatively common nightmares, I'd say one or two every fortnight.

I'd love to hear peoples opinions on this dream as I can't get my head around it.

This dream happened on the morning of 20-11-99

The fist part of the dream was I was painting with some friends(not sure who). The colour of the paint was a light blue. There were some holes in the wall and I painted inside the holes. Inside 2 of the holes was a spider. Both were black I think 1 was fat and the other thin.I stepped back from the wall I was painting and bumpped into my aunty. I said sorry to my aunty and then I was on a river. The river was brown. I was floating down the river with my girlfriend on a square wodden raft. On the side of the river was a huge snake whos head and part of its body were standing up out of the water the snake was green. On the bank next to the snake was an elephant. The snake was as high as the elephant even though it only had part of its body out of the water. The snake and the elephant were fighting. The elephant using its trunk and the snake rapping itself around the elephants trunk. The dream then zoomed in to show the snake rapped around the elephants trunk. At this point the e! ! lephant had 2 trunks and it used the 2nd trunk to grap the snake and cast it into the water. The next thing that happened was that there was a lion cub in the water and a crocodile attacked the lion cub injuring it. The cub then escaped out of the water but it had been wounded. The next thing that happened was that my girlfriend and I were falling(I seemed to be falling past levels) and I could see my daughter but she was a teenager(she is only 6 months old now). She had long black hair. That is the most distinctive thing that I remember about her. We then died from the fall and then found ourselves in a dark tunnel. It was not Hell but it was a place in between heaven and hell(I think that it is called Hades not sure), the place was very black and dark. There was a skeleton that walked passed us and some ghosts (they might have been fat not sure)also walked passed us. We walked down the tunnel and came to a junction were the tunnel continued on the other side of a small room. T! ! here were some people there and a man that worked there. The man had a clipboard and had black hair a goatee and a mustache. He was serving someone who was asking to go back to life. The man said ok and the other person disapered. I then asked the man if my girlfriend and I could go back because we had a daughter to look after, after I asked him some other men said that they were there before me, I said that I was there first and then they said that that I was only there for a few minutes. Suddenly something happened and metal gates with spikes on the bottem of them started coming down in the tunnels to stop people from going anywere. The man who worked there grabbed my hand and I grabed my girlfriends hand and we started running down the tunnel. Because he worked there he knew secret ways passed the gates. The next thing that happened was that I was a slave and my girlfriend was a blonde headed weastern women(my girlfriend has black hair and is Japanese) and we were on a slave! ! ship. My girlfriend was not a slave though. The ship was an old wodden ship that had slaves that rowed it. My girlfriend walked into the room and wrote the word color and the letter u on the wall in yellow. She wrote the word with a yellow knife. My girlfriend then gave me the knife and I gave a nail to another slave because we were going to revolt(I didnt see my girlfriend anymore after she gave me the knife). As the ship came into dock there were thousands of people waiting for the ship to arrive. The ship was a trade ship that traded in meat and other things. The trade ship had not had a good time trading and had not managed to get many goods. We then started the revolt only to have knights on hoarses(I think the hoarses were brown and the knights might have had maces) come against us. The knights had blue on them and I think that there helmets were in the shape of goats heads. I got the feeling that the knights were evil. We were losing the revolt but we had an old cannon! ! (one of those cannons that you have to fire by lighting a fuse) that we decided to use. We put 3 small metal balls into the cannon and opened the door and fired. The cannon fire missed the knights and instead went straight and killed a king and a queen that were on the balcony of a castle. The king and queen were dressed in yellow. Because the king and queen were dead some soldiers came to our rescue. They were on foot and dressed in yellow. They had long pikes that they defeated the knights with. I was then on a school camp with 3 friends. We were either flying or on a river and we were going through a valley that had a river at the bottem of it. We were at the top of the valley so we could see really far. The place was really beatiful. There were many trees. We then continued on and we went passed a cliff that had a few small buildings on it. They might have been white. One of us said that, that would be a good place to base jump. I then found myself in a hollow tree trunk. ! ! I was sitting at the back of it and then some birds flew into the tree trunk and then started eating something. There were 3-5 birds and they were either black or white(I think black) and they had yellow tails. The birds finished eating and then flew out of the trunk and away. My friends and I then arrived at the school camp. There were already other schools there. We put our bags down and my friends ran down into the bushes. I sat down on a white plastic chair and looked down to see a big hole in the ground and at the bottem there was a small river or creek. There were some people from another school at the bottem and a girl started to argue with me. I think that she was saying that it is no good to be poor, and I asked what was wrong with being poor. I was then in a race with other people from at the camp. We were all covered in mud and had to run down our indivdual lanes kicking a soccer ball. I kicked my ball as hard as I could and then ran after it, while the other people! ! kicked there balls little bit by little bit. I then woke up :)

I'm suddenly in a blinding fog except that I can see this dull greenish blue light through the fog. as I walk toward it i see that there is a dark door of material that is indeciferable but with a brass handle. I open the door and suddenly I se a woman about 20 years old, but her back is turned to me. Suddenly I'm in a clearing, maybe an old dirt road and there are large pine and different kinds of trees all around and to the back of me. Ahead I see what looks like a huge crowd of people, all wearing very old looking colonial clothing. All black clothing and hats and shoes with buckles except for one man, a black man who is wearing a pair of ragged black and white striped pants and a worn, dirty shirt like the other men but it isn't tucked in like theirs. He is standing with his head down. The crowd (all men) looks as though they are standing around a large bonfire of sorts. Then suddenly I see the same woman before, only she is hanging from the large ! ! tree that the men are next to. She is dead.

Suddenly I see myself in a colonial dress, white cap, and black shawl. I'm looking up at the woman and I am surrounded by the circle of men. Suddenly I here the words " Help me." in sort of a long drawn out whisper and then " _____ why won't you help me." and then the hung woman lifts her crooked neck so that I can see her ratted hair and black eyes and points a finger at me and screams" It was Yoooou".

Comments by Dreamer I had this dream after being at a friends house at which a few people suggested that I try out the ouija board with them. As soon as I touched the board it started talking and it freaked me out so I left. The next morning I called to tell my friend about the dream and everything that I had dreamt about was axactly what had been said on the ouija board.ALso the board had said that the spirit was a witch who was hung after being betrayed. I have been having this same dream to the exact detail frequently for the last month. I would really just like to know why I'm having dreams about something that I never experienced.

Dream Title Dead Baby Brought Back to Life by DreamShar

Date of Dream March 2000

I had a dream we were in some kind of war-times. When war was over, I went to this ship where all the babies were being taken care of. I went to get my baby back, and they handed me a small card the size of a bus. card, that I guess had "her #" on it or whatever.... and told me my baby didn't make it. They took me to a small back room, where they had her in a little box, all wrapped up. I was devastated, and going crazy, of course. I was in denial. This has always been a GREat fear of mine. I brought my husband with me to come see for himself. He walked in, looked at her and turned away. He couldn't stand it. He refused to look. I cried and cried, and held her, and talked to her. "Wake up! Wake up!" "God, bring her back to life! Please! I know you can do anything! Please! God- save our baby!" "Wake up!" "Oh God, Please!...."

She started moving around and came back to life!

Comments by Dreamer I was really shook up by this dream. I still am, a month later. Losing my baby to death or anything is practically a phobia of mine. It wasn't until later, that I remembered her coming back to life. And that was quite a relief. Yet, the all the bad part of dying still sticks out in my mind. I wonder if God is just trying to tell me He's taking care of her, and not to worry.

Blue Boy bunny was involved with 3 female bunnies. One was still in love with him,he was dating one and the last one didn't want him(even though he wants her) He often ran back and forth from his dad's house to his ex's(Pink bunny) house.(The one who still wanted him)When he was at his dad's house and was ready to run back to Pink bunny's house, his father stopped him and made him help paint the house. While he is helping paint his father's house, he tells him his situation. While they were talking, sentences appeared, blocking everything. They said He loved one,is loving one and likes one who doesn't like him back. After they were done, dad looked up and noticed his house was painted blue! There were three different shades of blue(Powder blue was the dominant one, with bluish white outlining the house and a bright medium blue roof. The father sighed and Blue bunny ran over to pink bunnies house.Pink bunny was jealous. Then I woke up. Comments by Dreamer My dream is completely in cartoon. The colors were vivbrant,But blue stood out the most. The dream was fast and frantic and at times was very confusing. Lastly, I can't figure out why I had a dream from a male bunny's point of view(I'm a woman)I didn't see the other female bunnies either. Permission to Comment yes_share_comments Permission Comments

A demon of some sort has taken my siblings and other company hostage. He is very tall, has glowing green eyes and a pendant of some sort.He has specific interest in the Faternal Twins who are with me(I have never met the twins nor the company who were at my house) and me. He says that he has my soul and will trade it for the twins. I want it back, but it is more important that I protect the twins. Suddenly all of these angels are surrounding me and encouraging me to stand my ground. There are more angels around the twins. The demon is triing to get me to give in saying things like "it is you or them, you're the one that everyone else here needs, not them. I you protect them and sacrafice yourself it will eventually kill the rest of these people." I used some sort of magic to push him into a hole in the floor and protect the twins.

The same demon keeps comming back in other dreams with the same twins. He also told me that their brother and I would fall in love when we are ready (but I have never met their brother either).

Dream Title 'Typical Killer Type' Kat
Date of Dream Tuesday 4-11-00 6:30 am

You know those movies where you have a bunch of people being stalked by some crazed psycho in a mask? Well, I had a similar dream last night. I cannot seem to remember the beginning of it but, I remember there were two of us left.....

This woman and I were running around some kind of condo complex, and the killer finally caught up to us, and trapped us in the bathroom. I remember thinking to myself that, he just wants sex, so somehow, my friend and I end up in the shower, trying to coax him in. I remember having the distinct feeling that I had some kind of plan to kill him, once he was in the shower with us. I saw myself stepping into the shower and looking down and seeing blood, menstrual blood. He figured something was up with us trying to get him in the shower stall, and I told the other girl to run for it, thinking that I might still fend him off with offering him my body. I quickly realized this was not the case, and I was not his intended target. I begged for my life, but he pulled a knife and stabbed me in my side, I could actually feel the knife scrape my bone, and I died. He looked disappointed, and muttered 'that was it?'

I next find myself in the body of the other woman, and I am running from him again. I look at him and he appears to be a balding middle aged man. He pushes me against the wall of one of the condos and tells me that if I run, he will kill the kids in that apartment, and my lover (I was cheating on my boyfriend with him in the dream) in the other one. I agree to go with him. Just then I look over and see my lover, come out of his apartment, with his wife or girlfriend, and I throw my arms around him and begin to cry. I looked over his shoulder at my stalker and he shakes his head. I let go of my him and my lover disappears. I dream fades and it turns into a type of documentary. I am sitting in front of a camera describing what happened to me. But the narrator, switches from me, to the killer, and back again. He told the camera that he was just a regular guy, and happen to walk by one day and decided to turn down my street, he saw me, and studied me for a while. He des! ! cribed himself as being obsessed with me. The camera switches back to me.

'He spared my life, but left me with something permanent,' I said. With that the camera zooms in, I took off my blue underwear and I open my legs wide, and spread myself, and inscribed above my clitoris were the words 'The World.' And the dream ended with the killer saying, 'My gift to the world'

There was no mention of him being punished, or reprimanded for his actions, and my other self, the one that was killed, was simply forgotten about. Comments by Dreamer

I was walking on a path on a wooded area along a river with an unknown person. We came to a fork path. I wanted to take the left side path, away from the river, but the unknown person said we should take the right side path along the river, as I was lost; I agreed. Upon continuing the path, I saw across the river, a big man dressed in Roman era clothes, whipping a man on his knees. We took a better look, kneeling and hiding in the tall grass.

"It's Jesus Christ" I whispered to the unknown person. As I started to get up without hesistation, to swim across the river and render help to Jesus, the unknown person grabbed me by my shoulder, pushed me down, and whispering said, "This has to happen."

At that point the dream ended.

Dream Title Big Ship, by Ze
Date of Dream April 11, around 4 AM

Last night I had a very wonderous, sad dream. It started off alright, but things just started getting weirder and weirder.

I was in a valley, only it was sandy and rocky. There was a huge pile of rocks in the middle. I had three brothers and sisters, and we were all playing on some stairs that led into a temple of some sort. All of a sudden, a creature (a horse I think, it might of been a moose, I can't remember) appeared and told us to start digging at the rocks. We did, and every time we took away a rock, the valley would fill a little with water.

The creature moved faster and faster, and the water level was rising quite rapidly. Soon, we were standing on a big, colorful ship. It was very large, and reminded me of Noah's Ark.

The water level kept rising. My brothers and sister waere starting to drown. I helped them all to the top of the boat, and the water finally stopped. But I was missing my littlest brother. We could see him somehow, under us, with bubbles coming out of his nose. We just stood and watched him, until finally, he died. After that all the water dried up and I saw my other brother crying on a swing. Lots of people had come to the valley, maybe for the funeral. The ship and the creature disapeared, then I woke up.

The strange thing is, I only had one brother and one sister. My brother is seven, he was the one I saw crying on the swing. My sister is 10, but I don't remember her in the dream very much, only on the stairs of the temple. I don't have a little brother like the one in my dream. And the sad part is, I didn't even help him. What does my dream mean? Comments by Dreamer

i can't remember how it started but i remember that early in the dream my parents bought me a car cuz i didn't want to drive with my friend jeff. it was a big, red pick up truck with big wheels and a yellow swoosh sripe thing on the sides. it was like jacked up so it was practically off the tires. first i was driving around a parking lot, i think a mall of some kind, and my ex-boyfriend larry and jeff was following me in jeff's car, a silver something. i was basically doing circles and them and around the rows of parked cars in the lot. and at first they were just following me. i remember getting annoyed at them, and a little angry. then all of a sudden it took a broad turn. it got alot darker out, and then i sensed they were mad. i didn't see them, but i knew it. so then all of a sudden we're driving around a picnic party type thing, a huge picnic, with games and food and lots of people and rides and tents. but we're not driving on the ground! ! . i'm sort of driving on stuff like the tents and the rides, but none of its getting crushed. its almost as if the car doesn't weigh anything. and then i sort of lift off into the air, but not far, just like a foot above the tents and rides. and i have the feeling i am gonna tip over or fall, and i also am afraid cuz i think that my two friends were trying to run me off the road, but we're not even on a road. all i kept thinking was "they're trying to run me off the road!" the colors at the picnin were bright and pastel-like, but everything was fuzzy, as if um i guess in a dream. but everything else was clear, me, my 2 friends, the cars...they were dark colored and very clear-cut. the bright colors at the picnic were extremely contrasting in comparison to the parking lot. and the two scenes sort of blended together, one just turned into the other. it was odd, because in the dark, gloomy parking lot i felt no fear or anger, just simple annoyance like i often feel at th! ! em. and during the picnic part of the dream i was very afraid, even though it was much brighter and dreamier then the parking lot. and the parking lot was very dark. it wasn't a night-time dark though. it was a gloomy rain cloud type dark. and even in the parking lot i was gettin angry because they were chasing me, and trying to run me over. even though i was in a big truck. at first the truck was normal, with regular size tires. but as the dream went on, they got bigger and the truck got further away from them. at the end of the dream i don't even think i had tires anymore...but i can't remember the beginning or end of the dream...thats all i remember. i don't know how it started or ended either.

Comments by Dreamer i usualy don't remember any of my dreams. for about 2 days before this one, i remembered tiny little pieces of dreams, but this was the first big one i have had in years. and since then i have been remembering pieces and clips of dreams.

In your waking life you are trying to convince yourself that you don't want to talk to/relate to/communicate with someone who wants to relate to you, (perhaps someone who cares for you). The dream is telling you that your reasons for not engaging are insufficient.

Dream Title The Vicious Dog By Lorenzo III

Date of Dream April 8, Saturday night while I slept.

The night of my dream my young dog had her first three pups. During the day I took my eight year old grandson to his youth baseball game.

THE DREAM:

At daylight two of the pups crawl away from my home at fast speed further down the street. The puppies entered the yard of another resident. My grandson and I followed with concerned, but could not catch up. As we entered the yard, I noticed through the owners house window, husband and wife of oriental origin (chinese) sitting on their living room couch. I saw them (smiled)and they saw me (smiled), but they did not come out at all.

At that point, a Vicious Dog came from nowhere, going straight to the pups, and swallowing one. The other pup went under the owner's house.

When my grandson got to the vicious dog, it attack him, bit him and clinched with his teeth to his body.

Instead of helping my grandson first, my first reaction was to get the pup out o

Comments by Dreamer Before I took my grandson to the youth baseball came, I was complaining and letting my feelings out to the grandmother, of the irresponsibility of my grandson's father, not taking him to baseball practice or games. My grandson has an absentee father, whom has divorced my daughter. Also I stated, I met my obligation by taking my son to his games while in his youth.

But what about the oriental family, the vicious dog and the puppies; What do they have to do or mean in the dream?

At home I was in the corridor looking at the photographs. There was a picture of my old friend Collen who had a mass of red curly hair. When I looked again it wasn't her it was Bob's father and I was looking closely into his amazing aqua green eyes..and then he looked away. I told Bob that I saw the pictture move and he thought I was crazy.I tried to explain how easy it was to to see these things.

He then became scared and thought his father was going to come after him.Once before he had come after him and Bob had had to get a gun.He traded these special stix to get it.Then he drew a charm and put it on the pillow to protect me.

Later I went to my girlfriend with these special stix to get a gun. We talked for a while then I came & sat in wild room full of grafitti. The walls pounded. I asked what it was..she said her husband was in a new phase & he was fucking the girl. My friend closed her eyes to blot it out. I thought she needed the gun more than I so I left.... Dream Title My Son And The Worms By Lorenzo III

Date of Dream Sunday Aril 9, 2000 While asleep at night

I took my 25 year old son to the doctor, as he was sick and not well.

The doctor asked my son to unbutton his shirt and he did.

To my surprise coming out of his belly button were white fussy haired worms. They were many of them.

The doctor gave his diagnosis: This disease comes either from the Mother or the Father. He asked me if I knew, I responded with a no.

So he asked me to unbotton my shirt. And sure enough, the same exact worms were coming out of my belly button.

At that point the dream ended.

Comments by Dreamer During the day that Sunday, The mother of my son, was concern about of his finances being out of control, and further stated it was because of his new bride, whom has bad credit and unable to contol her personal spending habits. The mother thinks the wife is driving him down financially.

The mother and I keep seperate finances, she is good at that.

But not me, I am not good at personal budgets, I used to take my son out to eat a lot and bought him expensive clothes, until 1995 when my health problems began.

I would say maybe he took up more like me on finances.

Since 1995, I must have had easy, over 2000 dreams.

I'm at the place that I used to work at,(I was fired) in my old cubicle and there is a company event going on. The servers are Gypsies. One of the servers puts a stack of plates on another servers head and spins her around so that she is going around in circles, she is spinning so fast that she becomes a blur. The plates begin to fall and I see that they are going to fly and hit another server who is standing in the cubicle next to mine. I say something like "oh my" and the plates go crashing around her. she turns around and says she will put a curse on the person who said oh my, I hide under my desk as she begins looking for me and I am there until it is night and everyone is gone, just as I come out from my hiding spot a light goes on and 2 people are walking up the stairs and come through the door and pass hiding spot. They look as if they are in a trance and are walking side by side. I feel very afraid. Then I am in the parking lot and the ! ! salesmen are all there, they tell me to go with them to the amusement park. We talk and laugh and I decide to on a ride, the are like the swings only they are little ponies, I am about to get on one when one of the sales managers hands me her baby to take on the ride, the ride begins only I am not on it correctly, I am scared because I am afraid I'll fall off and the baby will get hurt. finally the ride ends. Now we all leave and go to where we are staying. They are cottages, one for each sales person and me and the are in a circle with the entrances facing the inner part with little pathways to each door. I decide to go to the cottage store. I put my purchases on the counter and I see something else I want, I walk away leaving my purse on the counter with the items I want to purchase. When I return the my purse is missing, I become frantic, I then see the strap under the counter, I reach down to get it and the lady standing there tells me that it is not my purse. I grab it, see that it is my purse and she yells for the police-I run out of the store past the policeman. I see a friend of mine standing at the entrance to the cottages, I scream his name but he doesn't hear me..I'm afraid and I wake up as I am screaming his name. Comments by Dreamer

The snake at the end of the pier

Date of Dream 6:00am 14th April 200

I was walking down a pier with my back to the water talking to a friend, when someone warned me about a snake at the end of the pier. As I stepped off the pier onto the path the snake bite me. It didn't hurt until the next day when I woke up in a blisters rash all over my body. I checked my ankle were I was bitten and there were two bite marks, one bleeding and the other slowly, but visibly, fading. I was sure the snake had only bitten me once. The snake was black with a red tail.

I've opened the closet to select a robe. There was a heavier furry-like one, and a lighter one. I select the lighter on and put it on, then leave the room. I'm in my bedroom when I feel something crawling on me. I look under the robe and to my horror and disgust I find a silver fish crawling inside. I knock it out. It lands on the bed and crawls under the sheets. I look around and see bugs crawling all over the place. In an effort to keep them off of me, I float off the floor. I yank the robe off of me and notice a yellow stain on the sleeve and on the bottom hem that has hardened. I fly out of the room and back to the room where I'd gotten the robe. The closet door was closed; there was a lobster/ crab creature just outside the door. I watched as a fish wriggled out from beneath the closet door. In sudden anger and with a determination to get rid of these bugs, I rushed the door, yelling at the top of my lungs and gesticulating wildly. The fish popped back into the closet in startlement. I yanked the closet door open, pulled aside the heavier robe and found a gaping hole in the wall where bugs were streaming out in rivulets. I fly out of the house. Outside, a shark/ fish was after me. Then a guy stepped in and caught it, then tossed it as far away as possible. It shrunk to a mere pinprick in the distance. I ran up the road a little further, but almost immediately, the shark/ fish was back. The guy caught it again and tossed it. I ran a little further. I caught up to the guy as he caught the fish again. It had fearsome teeth, and I knew that if it touched me, it would bite down hard. The guy was holding it by its gills, his fingers awfully close to those teeth. I was concerned that the shark would be able to wriggle around and get him, but he managed to hold the shark in a tight grip. He tossed it again and Comments by Dreamer

Dream Title Title: Snow Wolf Pen Name: Snow Wolf
Date of Dream 18/4/2000 07:30

It's a bleak winter day and I find myself in an open square between low-rent houses. It is a grassy square and I can imagine it once used to be a playground but now it is the kind of place where surly gangs of teenagers hang out and intimidate the residents of the houses surrounding.

The grass is just a guess as now it is all covered by thick snow that is still falling from the grey sky. I look around and take in more detail. There are a couple of ill-used, mangy dogs around and an old car which, though whole, doesn't look like it will be travelling anywhere again.

Behind me are two wolves, I have the sense that they have followed me here as companions. There is a small cub and its mother. The cub seems playful but the mother dangerous. As I watch disinterestedly the mother approaches one of the dogs which backs away but she ignores it and circles round the front of the car to the other side where the cub was but it has now gone. Instead another stray mongrel is there and the wolf-mother attacks it savagely. It is to malnourished and weak to fight back.

I get into the car and make sure the windows are all closed: I realise that the wolf is coming for me next. I sit and watch as she continues to fight the dog and then she turns and looks at me sheltering terrefied in the back of the car. She leaps forward and in an instant she is through the front window and her jaws begin to close on my face.

A second later I realise this has not really happened; it is a momentary fantasy and the window is still whole and closed and the wolf is still outside.

Comments by Dreamer Context is having left my wife and returned to England we are still attmepting to put it back together depsite both of our fears that too much damage has been done.

Date of Dream 18/4/00

I was at a school Gala event. There were a lot of people at this event. A kid was drowning, a little boy, cluthing to another little boy. No-one was willing to help so I jumped in - he was close to the edge. at first I couldn't get my body to stay underwater to help him out. I was too bouyant. I eventually succeeded; i held him under my arms, a little white goo dribbled out of his mouth, but I never practised CPR, and he died. The next memory I have is that of a piece of steak on a plate. Someone said it was him. At a service held on the same day next to the swimming pool I was just an innocent bystander, but I cried like a baby because this little boy had died because I didn't help him properly. A predominent colour in this dream was bright yellow. Now, in my conscious state, I feel weakened by this dream - I feel bad that the boy died.

Comments by Dreamer I am not afraid of water, but I don't enjoy it. I am a female, aged 30; I have a chid, a girl aged 9, and I am currently going through a divorce. The boy in the dream, as well as all the other people involved, were not familiar to me.

It started with my best friend having a baby. She didn't want it (the baby was a girl) so I adopted her. I really wanted to take care of her. Next I was walking along the highway in a snow-storm with the baby wrapped up in blankets, trying to keep her warm. But when I took her away from my body to look at her, she had frozen into a porcelain doll-type baby. Then she shattered.

In the second part of my dream, I came in from the storm to join my friends at a party. The only people I recognized were my roommate, and two of our male friends. My roommate had brought my pet snake to the party and I was upset about that. She was laying in a huge bed with one of the guys when I looked at her. Then I told her I wanted to leave, but she did not. I forced her to because I didn't want her to have my snake at this party if I was not there. That's all I can remember, but I can't shake this dream.

Comments by Dreamer Please help me out on this one. If anyone can figure out what this might mean, it would be greatly appreciated!

I dont remember it all , it was a long dream . I remember being in my room with with my friend Brian and outside my two windows lightening kept getting closer and closer to the house. it began to scare me and we decided to try and get away we ran through the house. I dont remember much after that then i was in a room with other people and i had a pair of scissors and i put my finger on this table and theatened that i would cut it off. then i slowly did , i think i was waiting for some one to stop me. Then, and this is what really scared me, I was lying awake in my bed. Everything looked normal but i could sense something very bad. I could feel it coming towards me. Then i heard noises like someone or something was coming into the room to get me. I closed my eyes and screamed for my parents . My mom eventually came in and she asked me what was wrong , I told her I didn't know and she went back to her room. I eventually went back to sleep , the next th! ! ing i remember the phone was ringing and it was morning i leaned over and grabed it it was my boyfriend , he said he was sick of waiting and he wanted to get back with his exgirlfriends then hung up. I got scared. Then i woke up. My hand was at my ear like i was holding a phone but there was none. Thats the end.

Comments by Dreamer I was awake when i felt like something was after me and my mother really did come in, that happens to me. I'll be awake and not be able to get rid of the dream. I have a lot of nightmares, mostly on things that don't scare me when im awake but for some reason they do when im asleep. I know it may sound like nonsense , but its all i remember.

DREAM 4/19/00 TIME: MID DAY

Coming down the steps in an unformiliar house
I didnt recognise her at FIRST - untill I staired at her
closely. She still had a short cut with redish hair, her
face was a tanish brown as if she had been at home all
this time..

All of once I felt an uncontrollable rage consume me. As if a stick of TNT had exploded in my chest. Then
I grab her. Without thinking of any consequenses and with nothing but malicein my heart I to toss her like a salad. Before I know it, she was up against

the wall with my hand around her neck. The only thing I asked her was, where is my baby girl... (shes lefted with my daughter almost 3 years ago and I hadn't seen her since)

Before she could sqeek out any answers,
I seen my mother walking up the street coming unto the driveway.

I went out side to greet her as if nothing had happen.
She gave me that ole familiar look, then asked, whats wrong? I replied nothing - as SHE then greeted DAUGHTERS MOTHER(my X-girlfriend) with open arms...

I started walking down the street, and looking back at them I notice how simular this house was compared to the white house with the old green shutters on my Grandmothers street..

As I walked on, I realize that I was right dowm the street from her about three house down.

The first thing I notice WAS this white truck parked in front of the house. One of those truck where vendors sale warm food from..

As i approtch it, my cousin snoop walked up to me and asked if I wanted some BBQ ribs that she had grilled.. I remember having to take a real hard look at her, because she looked VERY sick.

She had on a blue or green pladed shirt with white shorts and very clean white shoes. Her face though was sunken in and flies were all around her mouth -- like those poor kids over in the middle east dying from hunger....

So I asked her (ignoring the ovious) what you got?
The side of the truck was already open displaying the BBQ
ribs she had spread out on a rack..

When I reach in to see what else she had,I pulled a
shelf up,and under it was about five or six babies lying there looking very sick with flys circling them and they were barley moving.

I remember looking back at snoop with great pain FRUSTRATION AND SADNESS..
then it was over.. Comments by Dreamer

This is a recurring nightmare that I had from 1988 to 1990. I would be watching television in my bedroom, usually Johnny Carson. It was always difficult to tell when the dream started, because the dream and reality always melded together, so if Johnny was interviewing a celebrity in real life, he would also be interviewing them in the dream. Usually, I'd realize I was dreaming, because he would say or do something out of character, or I would be overwhelmed by a feeling

of impending dread. Then the fun would start.

Simultaneously, I would fly out of my bed and hit the ceiling, hard, and a cacophony of screams would fill my ears. It sounded like thousands of children screaming, and it was always overwhelming loud. I could move my body, but would be "fixed" to ceiling. I could turn and see my body still on the bed, or just stare at the intricate detail of the ceiling, but could not otherwise move from my position. Meanwhile, the intense screaming becomes louder and louder, until it became nearly unbearable.

The dream progressed over time to my body flying out of the window and away from my house, where I would finally, mercifully, awake.

Many times I would "awake" several times in the same dream, only to realize I hadn't woken up at all.

The dream ended abruptly in the summer of 1990 and I haven't had it since. I was 16 when it began, and had just turned 18 when it ended. Comments by Dreamer

Hello,

I'm no dream 'expert', and have been studying my dreams for years, now ... have read a lot of books, and my personal favorite type of interpretation is the Jungian approach... (C.G. Jung... a noted psychoanalyst who specialized in dreams) -- and you may have heard of him.

I don't have much to offer, really... but it 'seems' as if you are trying to get in touch with some unconscious knowledge... something you are nearly desperate to find out, or 'know' about yourself; you mentioned 'husband or boyfriend'... and am curious -- is there a boyfriend and a husband in your life? Not passing judgement, just curious as this info would shed more light on the dream. Are you afraid of losing the husband/boyfriend?

thanks for sharing your dream... I love exploring the dream world. <smile>

Best wishes to you, Rebecca

DREAM : eating her tongue

=( yesterday i completed my instruction of the navy course on human computer interfacing and last night just vegged, sleeping off and on to make up from the sleep deprivations of the last four days. i got to bed
around 00:30 but could not sleep then, so i read magazines for a couple hours, too tired to really work, but not sleepy until around 02:30. i need to burn the CD for the students of their courseware, but will have to wait until tomorrow to do it. i did wake a couple times during the night to go pee, but got back to sleep. the last wake up was around 07:30 before this dream. )=

the drive out to the beach community hospital is a frantic one. my girlfriend is lapsing into a coma and needs an operation to save her life. my father is driving the car, trying to get us to the hospital as quickly as possible. but when he takes the off ramp from the highway to the beach, we encounter a long line of cars queued up at the toll booths.

"there is not time for this." my girlfriend's mother says to us all. "you'll have to take one of those wheelchairs and use the bicycle path along the beach to the medical center." she points to a collection of wheelchairs, left helter skelter like shopping carts in a parking lot outside a supermarket.

quickly we all get out of the car. curiously, my father does not help us with the unconscious girl, but goes into the restroom of the public facilities by the toll booths. i select one of the wheelchairs and push it over. it has smaller wheels and is heavily padded and covered with yellow naugahide. the girl's mother helps her into the chair while i start strapping on roller skates from the trunk of the car.

when i am ready with the skates, i come up behind the wheelchair. with a couple clicks of levers on the chrome arms, the chair reconfigures into a mobile gurney, flat with my girlfriend strapped down on the top.

her mother quickly inserts a needle into the artery below my left elbow. this leads to a tube that starts carrying my blood into the unconscious woman. "you'll have to be her lifeline until you get her to the medical center." her mother tells me. "here are the instructions you will need when you get there, and you should eat this to keep up your strength. she will need the extra compatible nutrients from your blood stream." the mother hands me the instructions written on a white paper napkin, and my girlfriend's just severed tongue, still moist wrapped in the napkin. i put these into my shirt pocket without looking at them.

i do not have time to question any of this, but start pushing the gurney out of the parking lot onto the paved bicycle path. this thin strip of asphalt gently curves over the sand dunes along the beach. the scenery is wonderful with the emerald green gulf of mexico off to the right and the scattered sea oats sprouting up along the way. but i do not really have time for attending to the pleasant surroundings. i am pumping the skates as hard as i can to get her to the hospital at the far end of the path. gulls and sandpipers cry aloud as our quick passage startles them into flight.

it is only a few minutes before i arrive at the medical center. the parking lot is full, but i know to go around to the back of the building where there is a car port. there is no entry here, just a blank wall.

i pull out the crumpled napkin and read the instructions. with its help, i find a small numeric keypad on the wall and punch in a sequence of numbers. the wall splits open with a click. a tall set of metal jaws roll out, split apart and side panels unfold to make a very small elevator. actually it is just the frame of an elevator, no walls. it is too small for me and the gurney, but i can detach the lower wheels and stand the flatbed with my girlfriend up on end. there is barely enough room for both of us. i have to be careful not to crimp the crimson line of blood extending from my arm to hers. i push the single button that says 'down'.

the instructions now tell me to eat the tongue. as the elevator takes us inside and starts to descend into infinite blackness below, i put the slightly cooled tongue in my mouth. it is exactly the same size as my tongue and i have to concentrate not to bite mine while eating hers.

the first couple bites are difficult to chew. the severed thick end of her tongue is stringy with tendons in a hard lump that i can not bite through. but i get that clump of gristle separated from the rest and manage to swallow it in a lump. yuck, i shiver with nausea, but am able to not vomit it back up-- just barely. the rest of her tongue has a smoother consistency, coming apart like veal as i chew it into smaller bits. it has no real flavor, but the texture of the taste buds on the surface is easy to detect.

darkness enfolds us as we descend, her toward hope of life and me carefully chewing her tongue.

=( i wake at 08:30 feeling rather refreshed. this is rather good after the last few days of waking at this time feeling dragged and drained. i do not know either this girlfriend or her mother from my waking life and did not detect any name for either in the dream. it was pensacola beach that we were traveling to, but the physical arrangement of the toll booths and the bike path on the beach were different. i do not think there is a medical center out there, or at least i am unaware of it. also, i do not know what to make about the ingestion of the tongue, but it was certainly unpleasant sensations trying to eat it. )=

I had a dream I was rehearsing a dance at the studio then I ended up on a military base and a young kid had beaten me. I was still alive calling for my father and he told me he couldn't come down and help me. They told my dad I was dead but he said I can't go down there. The my mom came in the room, I got up and went to the car and I saw the young kid who killed me. My mom was talking to me and I talked back and she said aren't you dead? I said Yes but I can feel my pulse and my heatbeating. They boy was just coming after me again when we were parked in a parking lot back at the dance studio. My brother walked out of the studio and we sped off and the dream ended with me yelling as she drove off. Comments by Dreamer

I had a dream one night where I was in my room. I was making my bed when a little 10 year old boy came in. I asked, can I help you? He replied, my name is Raymond and I am your guardian angel. I wanted to talk to you about you and the devil. He then continued to point out things in my life that I have, and that are happening to me. He told me that the devil was responsible for this, but ultimately I chose it. He told me that God still loved me and that God would take me back, that I just had to find him again. (You see, I used to be a big Christian, but since I left home I stopped believing.) He pointed out the events in my life where God saved my life, and said that I was being given another chance to come back to God.

Comments by Dreamer This dream has caused me to reconsider my beliefs, and is helping me realize what I can have.

In your waking life you are trying to convince yourself that your parents (who are perhaps proxy for other people/situations in your life) care for you. They dream is telling you that they DO NOT care for you.

In your waking life, perhaps due to peer pressure, you are trying to convince yourself that you don't attach any importance to your religious up-bringing. The dream is telling you that you are indeed concerned about the consequences of your behavior and decisions vis a vis the moral/religious education.

I was at a party with a bunch of friends, I left the party and began walking down a path to a small town. In the town there was a military base with a large gated fence surronding it. I went inside and walked through a series of hallways and passed by a guard sitting at a very big desk, to go through a door that led me back outside. I walked around the town and came back to the military base and two soilders were outside. I had forgotten something inside the military base, so I sent one of the soilders in to get it. On their necks were necklaces with small cups of sand. The soilder I sent inside came out with a water bottle and smiled as he handed it to me. He ran his fingers through the sand and drew a picture of a symbol on the sand. This was the same symbol I have tatooed on my back. (It means grace in sanscript) and he said, "You are a Taurus, right?" I said "yes," and we began a conversation which faded out. I remember wanting to take him back! ! to the party and I remember him showing me how to use the sand for survival and reading things about people. While we were talking the other soilder stood there smiling. No one went in or left the military base and we seemed to be the only people in town.

Comments by Dreamer I know I this has something to do with all of the conflict in my life but I can't quite figure out how.

Your Dream:

i was a man working for a company that had secret files. i decided i would help get these files from my computer in my cubicle and deliver them to the authority figures.i was helping a man who had a device that opened his eye so he couldn't blink. it seemed to be shaped as a half of a flower and the color of it was red and orange.then i was looking at myself, the man, while working and he looked just like the way my x sat at his computer. after that i delivered the files in a dark room(pitch black) i had a hat on and felt myself running swiftly through the room and not getting caught. getting out of the room there was an elevator and when it opened there were two men who seemed to have harrassed me before-they were gay. when they were about to rape me the elevator stopped and started going out of control.there was fire sparks everywhere and i felt myself jumping in the air and touching the roof which was extremly hot. i felt sweat and tears come down my face. then i felt my two! ! back teeth fall out and blood gush out of my mouth. the floor of the elevator began to open and one of the men fell out trying to grab me by my ankle (which i protected b/c i had just recovered from a broken ankle). the other fell with him. the elevator finally landed and i ran home where i saw my beautiful wife who was holding a bowl with a fish of about a cm long. the house was flooded with water and i looked frantically for my son. there were two doors with children's drawings and i had to choose which one of them had the son i was looking for. instead i opened the one where my oldest son was in who looked just like my cousin. i hugged him so he wouldn't fell left out but continued looking for my other son. i kicked through the other door and i saw my son with a mask on and when he saw me he was very upset i chose the wrong son. please tell me what this means? thank you

Dear Dreamers!

I am contemplating about spiders in dreams since weeks. This night I had this dream:

I went to the flat where I had been living for 6 years with my first husband (I left this flat and this man 9 years ago, but I dream often of this flat - that I have to put the garbage out...). Before the flat, on the corridor there sat Eva and Eduardo, a couple of good friends, but without their baby. Eduardo worked on his artwork. Eva asked me for a pair of scissors to cut out a picture of a beautiful model from a magazine. On the other side of the magazine I saw a surrealistic picture like one of my collages. I gave Eva a big scissor. Then we went into the flat. They had changed the mood of the flat - it was beautiful, full of plants, bright and clean. The sleeping room had a wood ceiling and as only furniture a bed. In front of the bed there was a big grey spider web like a hammock, and in this web was a holy thing (I can not remember) - I knew this was a big dream catcher...

If everyone would like to spin on ... Please mail to johanna_vedral@hotmail.com

It started at a gas station in the town I live in. Actually in wakin reality the place where this gas station was in the dream is a grocery store. I was there with my mother, stepfather, and two stepsisters (both younger). We were all on our way back to the car after getting something inside. Propped up against one of the pumps were several long poles with wire cages on the end, like apple pickers. As I was about to get in the car an old black man came up and began mumbling. All I understood was "$3.25" which I thought he was saying was the price of gas. It turned out however that $3.25 was the hourly wage at this gas station and he was trying to hire me. I politely declined, considering I already had a job. The old man got in the car in my seat and I had trouble getting him to get back out, but finally he did and I got in. Then he tried to get in my mom's seat (which she was already sitting in). My stepfather sped off with this old man drag! ! ging along on the side of the car. I yelled for him to stop but to no avail. Soon we were in the country about ten miles west of town, heading south on a gravel road maybe 60 mph, the man still hanging on the side of the car. I was so angry and disgusted I opened the door to jump out (I had been on the right side of the back seat and my two stepsisters crammed in to the left of me, but at this point I was alone in the backseat, on the left side) but there was a red truck coming the other way, and a car behind it. I shut my door until they passed. As I was getting ready to jump out the dream was very chaotic, with the car shaking all around, loud noises, etc, but right when I jumped out that was all over. The car was gone around a bend and behind a hill in less than a second and all was peaceful. I found myself in a small town nestled between hills and cliffs. I was on the west side of the street, although logically I should have been on the east or in the middle. Behi! ! nd me was some sort of office building, no longer used so far as I could tell, since the parking lot was empty. Across the street to the east was a white house. A woman came out of this house and I asked if she had a phone I could use. She pointed to a blue and white striped tent to the southeast and said there was a phone there I could use. It looked like the tent was set up for some kind of town festival. I asked her the name of the town and found it was called Artburgh. I thanked her and I think the went toward the office building or whatever it was. I went toward the tent but before I got there a large hill somehow appeared between myself and my goal. I began to scale it and when I got to the top there was a large group of young teenage girls sitting on the edge of a cliff on one side of the hill. They giggled and wanted me to come hang out with them but I told them I was busy and had to keep moving. As I tried to cross the top of the hill I realized it was covere! ! d with quicksand and had a hard time getting through. When I was about halfway across I saw that there was a girl using a payphone that was set into the wall of a brick building to the west (over the cliff). I went through the group of girls and over the cliff to get to the phone, but realized I didn't have my wallet, or any change. I asked the girls on the cliff for 35 cents and they started throwing all this change at me. I picked up a dime and quarter off the ground and went to the wall only to find the phone was some old fashioned kind I didn't know how to use. I went to the south a bit and found another phone, the same kind as the last. I went a bit further and found yet another. A little further south and I found a payphone I could use. I picked up the phone and it made the sound it makes to remind you to hang up. I noticed that it said calls only cost 29 cents. I put a quarter in and the sound stopped but I got no dialtone. I put the dime in, still no dialto! ! ne. I noticed a button below the zero, or maybe in place of the zero, which said "ring out". I pushed it and the phone began to ring. I dialled my mother's number (when I had jumped out of the car she hadn't been there either so I thought maybe she was home and would come pick me up) and after about a minute of ringing my stepfather answered. I was still angry with him and hung up. Next I knew I was in the front yard of the house I rent with my girlfriend. I went up to the porch and saw that the door was open, but the screen door was closed. I looked in and saw my mother and step father sitting on my couch. I screamed an obscenity and punched a hole in the screen door, then this dream melted into another. Comments by Dreamer

While going back home from schol, I saw one person passing by me, with his tongue bloody. He had his hands right under the mouth trying to catch opping blood. I saw his mouth bleed. After a while, one of my friends came and said that people's tongue were being cut over there. So I walked to the place to see it. There, I saw people making a line. But I didn't go into the line. One by one, people came back from the line with their tongue cut and bloody. I was confused because I wondered if I had to do that, too, seeing many people from my town doing. Sky was all cloudy, gray, and dark, but it was afternoon before night. I felt terrible, but not sad. The place was rather quiet. I didn't see anybody screaming or crying. Whole town was calm down, but kind of massy. Comments by Dreamer

I dreamed that I was with all my family somewhere. My Mom and Dad were there, but everyone in my family in the dream seemed to be playing sort of walk-on unimportant roles except for Sara. In the dream, we're in a big house with lots of different rooms. I have my cell phone. I have talked to you several times on the cell phone. I don't know or I don't remember why, but suddenly I have to leave. I have the feeling that I have to leave because my family is very angry with me. In the dream you are somewhere relatively close at hand?only a few hours away. I have to go somewhere very far away, I don't know where. I want to call you to see you before I go. I know that this call will surprise you, because I know that even though you want to see me, you didn't expect to. I keep trying to find a place where I can get some privacy and call you, but at the same time somewhere where I can continue packing. No one is talking to me, but Sara is always wat! ! ching me.

As a part of packing, I'm trying to put this room back together. It's like a playroom. In it there is some kind of play house like thing. When you open the door on the front of this play house there's just room for 3 children to stand inside if they stand in a row across the front. There's no depth, but the thing is about a yard wide and a yard and a half tall. The back of the play house is put together like a picture frame backing assembly. First a piece of ply wood goes in which has been covered in red felt. Then a piece of heavy screen like material fits in to hold the plywood piece in place. Someone, I think Sara, has taken the backing out of this house. Sara has gotten the screen so warped and tangled that it's in pieces and won't fit back into the back the way it was meant to. I'm trying to figure out a way to put the thing back together using the screen backing. I can see how I'm supposed to do it, but the screen won't fit. Finally I am forcing the three pieces of the screen back in. They don't completely cover the plywood, but they're wedged in so that the plywood piece stays in place. Three women are watching me do this. I don't want them to see that I'm forcing it.

I keep trying to dial you on my cell phone. I can't dial the numbers right. I know the number, but every time I dial it I make a mistake and have to start again. It seems like I try to dial it an infinite number of times. Finally I've input all the numbers correctly and I hit the send button. I'm so overjoyed that I finally got it right. The phone rings and Kathy, (your neighbor not my sister) answers. She recognizes my voice and tells me that you're not there. I ask her if she knows how I can reach you. She says she doesn't think I can. You're out running errands in the car. She doesn't know how long you'll be gone. She'll tell you I called, but I'll have to call back. I'm so frustrated. I know that I may never be able to input the numbers right again. I keep packing and I keep trying to dial.

I reach you finally and tell you that I need you and to please come. While I'm talking to you, I see that Sara is looking at me through the crack in the door. When the door to the room closes, there's a large gap and Sara is standing outside looking in the gap. I don't want her to hear me, so I tell you to come quickly and I hang up. Sara takes my phone. I'm really upset because I know that without the phone I can never call you again. I know that that's what Sara wants.

You are there almost instantly. I tell you that you need to sit against the door, blocking the crack and keeping anyone from coming in. I'm very upset. I feel like this is the last time I'll see you. You sit in front of the crack with your back against the door while I'm talking. I start to cry. You get up and come toward me to put your arms around me. I turn and see that Sara is starting to open the door. I rush away from you and try to keep the door closed. I call out to you to help me hold it closed. Just as you start toward the door that I'm now using all my strength to keep closed?I wake up.

I had a dream recently and variations of it that has me really puzzled. I was sleeping in my bedroom with my husband and my 3 mos. old newborn daughter. An elderly woman spirit came to me in our bedroom and asked if she could posses my body so that she could hold the baby. I told her no! In my dream I woke my husband and told him that he had to come to the nursery with me to change our daughters diaper because I was scared. Reluctantly he came with me. While we were in there my hair all stood up on end (like a static ball) and I was levitated off the ground. I told him to look at me and asked him if he belived me now! Then all sorts of spirits started to appear. The first one was the gentleman who invented the clock and there were hundreds of spirits roaming around. The head spirit said that we had to sit down and have a meeting with her. She explained that our house was a stopping point and we just had to live with it. I then awoke and really woke my husband up.

Shortly therafter I had a dream about the elderly spirit again. I was with my entire family at a hotel for some sort of party or function and when I went to the public restroom the ghost pinned me up against the ceiling and turned on the fire sprinklers and soaked me. she let me down finally and I ran out of the room to my family. They asked me why I was all wet and I told them what happened but they did not believe me. Then the spirit levitated me upside down and they could not pull me down. They believed me then. Then I woke up scared out of my wits.

I have had a few similar dreams since but not as intense or frequent.

All of this happened just before I retuned to work after the birth of my first child. Perhaps that apprehension has something to do with this. Can you help me interpret this? Comments by Dreamer

B. and I were in Austin, TX. We were rummaging through several shops, two in particular. We had gone into the first shop. I hate shopping as my feet get sore when I have to stand still for very long; I need to keep moving. Invariably, I always run circles around B., waiting for him to "move on". He had wandered off and I had circled the store (three times), looking for him. I finally came to a stop in front of the checkout counter and was staring off into space when the check out girl asked if she could help me. I said, "no.? As I was about to walk away, she mentioned that she couldn?t take care of the incorrect Blockbuster Video billing on our hotel bill. I told her that was ok, that I would contact Blockbuster myself when I got home. They had overcharged us by fifty cents for a rental. I then thought to myself, who goes on vacation and rents videos? I can?t find B. anywhere in the store and I come to a staircase. This shop has two floors. I debate going up, as I know there is nothing up there of interest to me (I have a sense of deja vu), yet I proceed to climb the stairs anyway. As I had figured, there is nothing here worth looking at. I walked to the other side of the room and came to the exit. There are three doors. I choose to exit via the middle one. The doors are twice as wide as a normal door and one-fourth shorter and are made of wood and steel. I open it and find that I now have to jump down 4-5 feet to the corridor. I look to my left and see that the first door has steps leading down to the corridor. But, I?m already here and have this door open, so I jump. Now for some reason, I?m walking around carrying a medium sized container of stew; pasta/chicken with homemade bread crumbs (crouton size). I open a door to enter the next shop, only to find it?s the kitchen to a restaurant. There is a counter stopping me from passing through. One of the chefs invites me to pass, but I have to crawl beneath the counter to get to the other side. He then pours a ladle of spaghetti sauce over my stew and shows me to the front door. He looks a tad upset as I leave. Perhaps he was expecting me to offer him a taste? Now I?ve come to the second shop. I wander through the shop, but B. isn?t here either. I leave the store and am now outside. Two of the female clerks are outside and I ask them for directions (I don?t recall to where). One girl is tall with sandy blonde hair and the other short with brown hair. The taller girl points to the east, the shorter girl to the west. Then the taller girl changes her mind and points north and says that is the way I should go. I look in the direction she?s pointing and it?s a straight uphill climb. Just thinking about it exhausts me. I start climbing. About one third of the way up, there are three trees in my path. Their roots are exposed and I find myself having to step between the roots. But in a way, that?s a good thing, as I am able to get a better foothold and this invigorates me. Once I get past the trees, the path turns to dirt. I make it to the top and the path leads me to the door of a house. As I stand on the threshold, I hear someone coming and step away, to the right of the door. A young girl comes out. She knows where I want to go and says she will lead me. All I have to do is follow her. I guess a lot of people come to the door instead of staying on the path to the right of the door. The phrase, "And a child shall lead them," pops into my mind. The girl is about six feet ahead of me when I call out to her to stop. Just to the right of her, I spy something. ?There?s a rattlesnake. Step away from it, slowly," I call out. The snake was coiled up, napping. The girl bent down and picked it up. She had no fear of it, in fact, seemed delighted to find it. I hadn?t realized it before, but she already had another snake wrapped around her neck. It was a large snake, like a boa constrictor. She took the two snakes in her hands and flung them to the right of her, into a pile of more snakes. The area was fenced off, as if meant to keep the snakes inside. Then we continued on our way, up the dirt path which was surrounded by trees on either side. Walking uphill again, all you could see were trees and sky. (4/26/00)
