hello to all sabotage readers!! after a long break of abortive waiting
for mortimer`s tune, i decided to use spectra`s tune originally prepared for
issue #9. in other side, previous month was very poor for any support and
stuff, many swappers seemed to be delayed, and we used this delay collecting
some more things for our pack. finally, i could say we managed to fill this
issue maybe more than we thought before.
there are some new things in this release of sabotage. first, gone/void
sent us the pictures of his new house and he promised to send us new ones
later. all pictures are included in bonus drawer. we wish gone all the
best in his house building. next thing is we collected more articles than
ever, so please take a look on it. there is also very interesting
"initiative" thought up by coach/twilight, i think that`s very nice idea.
read it in "messages" section. punisher also thought up a nice idea about
old-skool swappers` interviews. read it in "backtracking - the swappers
project". constant components of every issue is the chart and punisher`s
swappers forum. in the chart, today`s winner is kempy as always, hehe.
azzaro, punisher and evan are very close to each other, so there could be
very interesting fight in next issue :). juen entered the chart there!
that`s all for now. hopefully, mortimer twang will finish his tune next
time. sorry for delay, in other side, this issue is full of new

- corrosion crew just got back from JFJF - yugoslav festival of cheap
movies. after 5 days of movies, concerts and partying, all we can do is
to tell all of you had chance to come but didn't do it, that you've missed
a lot. concerning our little crew, we did a great LO-TEK KINGS live act,
our 2 demos were screened during the festival [BURST and PROJECT42] and we
released our first LOW-FI movie called ON SARMA. this was also the place
where our cooperation with video group KADAR was presented in form of ROAD
TO HELL video with the lo-tek kings tune N2O [soon to be released as ep on
cd!]

1. GENERAL ISSUES
1.1 What is Escape 2001?
Escape 2001 is a demoscene party held for the second time
ever. Escape features 150 computerplaces and 120 normal
tickets. Compared to last year we are slightly bigger.
1.2 Where is Escape held?
The partyplace will be the same where e2k was held ie. Olari
highschool in southern Espoo, Finland. The partyarea has
moved from the auditorium to the dining hall which is bigger.
The school was built in 1993 and it gives great opportunities
for the event. You can check the address and driving
instructions from CONTACT.
1.3 When does the party take place?
Escape is held on the second weekend of May, 11th to 13th,
2001.
1.4 Tickets
Ticket sales start on 22.02.2001 (DD.MM.YYYY) Ticket sales
continue until tickets have either been sold out or when it's
not wise to mail them (that would be few weeks before the event).
Like last year, we are unable to sell tickets from door. You
will just have to buy them forehand. Don't whine, there's
nothing we can do about it.
Computer places cost 80 FIM. Normal tickets (the ones
without computerplace) cost 50 FIM. For the (unfortunately)
small group of female sceners we offer a 20 FIM entrance
ticket. There is no discout from computer place tickets,
they cost 80 FIM to all of you. Handling fee will be added
to prices.
For the real oldschool demosceners and otherwise active scene-
people we offer a few free entrance tickets. If you think you
should get one send an application to grazer@stc.cx. There
will be no free computerplaces for you, though. Just entrance
tickets.
If the computerplaces are sold out quickly we might be able to
arrange some additional computerplces. These places would be
sold rigth before the event or at the event.
NOTE! If we sell extra computer places they won't include
entrance ticket. You will have to order one from the Internet
forehand.
2. MORE SPECIFIC ISSUES
2.1 Different kinds of tickets
There is three kind of tickets:
* Entrance ticket 50 FIM
* Female entrance ticket 20 FIM
* Computer place (includes entrance ticket) 80 FIM
+ handling fee
2.2.1 What do the tickets include?
For all of you:
* Screen. Size has not been confirmed yet. Probably
something like 3x4m.
* Raves
* 10 toilets. Use them often, please.
* Drink machine selling coffee, tea, juice,
cappuccino and cocoa.
* Candy machine. Mars, Twix, Snickers, Bounty and
Dove.
* Infodesk/Helldesk/Netdesk. If we're lucky.
* Sound. 2x350W (2x15" middle + 2x18" subwoofer).
We'll make sure the soundsystem bothers no one.
* "Quiet" and small sleepingarea.
* Voting for everyone!
Computerplace:
* One electric plug. 230W, 50Hz. Don't bring any
other kind of equipment. Powerusage may have to
be limited.
* One RJ-45 plug. We don't support BNC. Partynet and
Internet should work at speed of 100Mbit/sec. Bring
your own cords.
* A wooden chair. It's non-ergonomic and non-comfortabe =).
We suggest bringing your own chair, though no sofas or
otherwise large seating equipment are allowed.
* 65-70 cm x 70-80 cm of table space. All tables have the
same amount of space per person.

2.3 Raves
We are trying to get some djs to play music at raves. Our
goal is to get some good djs and lots of ravers. We try to arrange
lots of effects and great audio equipment. Djs will play at the
times marked to the schedule and possibly other times, too.
We aren't quite certain about the raves because we don't
know if people want them. We are also short on djs.
2.4 Network
Everybody buying a computer place has an opportunity to
connect their computers to our partynetwork and to the Internet.
Partynet should work at the speed of 100Mbit/sec and Internet
at 10Mbit/sec.
We have a switch-based network but on some tables we think we
have to use some hubs, too. You have to take care that you have
enough network cable (RJ-45) with you. Suggested length is ca. 10m.
Voting at compos is done via the partynet. Though we can't promise
that the net is up and running. We try our best.
2.5 Food. (true party-people don't eat, right?)
At the proximity of the partyplace you can find many pizzerias,
restaurants, shops and bars. We'll make a list of places that
sell food on our website.
It's advicable to bring some food with you. If so you should
consider bringing a refridgerator, too. The other option is to
walk to the center of Olari where you can go to a shop or some
restaurant kind of thing.

suggestion to us (grazer@stc.cx). There's gonna be some
exotic compos like c64-game compo, but don't bother to
expect any great prizes :-).

* There is no certainty the prizes will not change. They
might be lowered or even raised. Prizes are effected by
how many tickets we sell and how many sponsors we get.
* NOTE! If you will more compos the prizes are reduced from
other compos. All damage caused at the party will be paid
from the prizes. For that reason prizes are paid afterwards
to an account you give us. Make sure you give the right
account number. If you're awarded with something else than
money (eg. equipment) they will be given to the winners
immidiately (ie. at the party).

3.4 Compo rules
* General:
* Entries must be delivered before deadline (sat 12.00 AM)
* Entries must be delivered using our ftp-server. Alternatively
bring them to our infodesk on a cd-r, cd-rw or a nostalgic
HD-formatted diskette (max 2 disks/entry). We don't accept
any other way of delivering entries.
* All entries (except wild, oldschool and 8-bit demo
to be compressed to a single archive. Supported types:
zip, arj, rar, gzip, bz2.
* No illegal or ripped material.
* Entry must be never before published.
* We reserve right to publish your entry on the Internet
or at a demo-cd.
* One can take part in the compos also via Internet.
Send our entries to a location later announced.
You cannot take part on the wild compo through Internet.
Allthough you can send a VHS or a cd to Antti Halko
before the party (see contact).
* We preview all entries. If we receive over 15 entires
per compo only the best are shown. We publish all compos
no matter they're shown or not.
* We hope the resolution won't change because the
dataprojector might take a moment while changing it.
* Name your file freely. The arhive must have the maximum
of 8+3 characters and it must be ISO-9660 compliant.
* Include the official info file to your entry. You can
download it from http://escape.stc.cx/entry.nfo (also
included with the invitation intro).
* PC demo compo
* Maximum resolution/colors 1024x768/32bit
* 3D open gl, direct 3d or software render.
* No shit written to hard-drive.
* Un-packed size less than 8 MB.
* One demo/group.
* Demo must include more than just animation.
* No-sound mode mandatory.
* Operation system is either DOS, Win32 or RedHat Linux.
* Maximum length is 6min, demos longer than 6min are
disqualified.
* Demo must end with escape ;-).
* 64k PC Intro
* Unpacked size less than 64kB.
* Nothing written on harddisk.
* OS: DOS or Win32
* No-sound mode mandatory.
* Only one intro per group or coder.
* 8-Bit demo compo
* Demo compo for 8-bit computers.
* Hardware platform may be one of these:
* Commodore Vic20 (RAM expansions to 40kB available)
& 1541 disk drive
* Commodore 16 & 1541
* Commodore 64 & 1541
* Commodore 128D
* You can participate with other 8-bit computers too,
if you bring your machine to the party place. The
machine must be able to produce PAL-compatible composite
video signal (tv-out is ok). Make sure that you also
have a suitable cable to connect your machine to our compo
recorder (probably SCART AV-connector and RCA-jacks for
audio/video are supported). Contact the compo organizers
beforehand for exact information on how to proceed.
* Demo must not require any user interaction, like pressing
buttons or disk changing, while running.
* All entries are recorded on VHS tape and played back from
there. Maximum length 5 min.
* 2D GFX compo
* Resolution 640x480. No more no less.
* Formats: JPG, BMP, GIF, TIF, TGA.
* No scans, rips or rendered images.
* Archive must contain 5 files: signed and unsigned version
of the ready image and three phases. Unsigned version is
shown on the screen, but we publish only the signed version.
* Only one image/artist.
* Every image is shown ca. 15 sec onthe screen.
* 3D raytrace compo
* Resolution 640x480.
* Images have to be calculated by computer
* Formats: JPG, BMP, GIF, TIF, TGA.
* Archive must contain 5 files: signed and unsigned version
of the ready image and three phases. Unsigned version is
shown on the screen, but we publish only the signed version.
Signature doesn't have to be calculated by computer.
* No scans, rips or handmage images ;)
* Only one image/artist
* Every image is shown about 15 sec on the screen.
* WILD demo compo:
* Nothing is censored. Everything is legal as long as
you follow the general compotules.
* Product must be delivered on VHS or cd. If you decide
to use cd the file has to be in MPEG1 format.
* Use PAL with VHS. We do not tolerate any other kinds of
formats.
* Mp3 music compo:
* How you create the music is not important. Song must
the in mp3 -format.
* Only 4 minutes of the song is played. If you make it longer
it will be cut off.
* Only one song/atrist.
* Min 128kb/sec. Max 192kb/sec.
* Oldschool demo compo:
* No writing to harddisk.
* Un-packed size max 8MB.
* One demo/group
* No-sound mode is mandatory.
* PC uses DOS
* Maximum length is 6min. Longer demos are disqualified.
* Escape is the quitting-key.
3. RULES
4.1 General partyrules
* Usage of alcohol, drugs or cigarrettes is strictly
prohibited.
* Organisation is allways right.
* Neither escape nor any other of the orginizing forces is
responsible for your stuff. If any damage is done to your
equipment (on purpose or not) it is not our business to
fix it. You bring your things on your own responsibility.
* Everyone is responsible fot the damage he/she causes.
Whatever you break you pay.
* Any cracking/hacking and vandalism is prohibited.
* Taking part in Escape you commit to agree theses rules
and live by them.
* All rights are reserved to change these rules by
organisation.
* Breaking the rules above will lead to immidiate (the are
no warnings) removal from the partyplace and if neccessary
to remedy.
* Do remember that all Finnish laws must be obayed during
the party.
4.2 Disclaimer
Escape organisation is not responsible for anything. We simply
try to arrange you a nice party. No information on this file
is an absolute certainty. We don't respond to any costs that
are caused for changing this document. The organisation, the
Olari highschool nor any of the organizers of staff is responsible
for any damage. Material, non-material, intentional or
unintentional. WE DON'T TAKE THE BLAME FOR ANYTHING.

Po polskiemu najpierw. Chce was wszystkich poinformowac ze wciaz szukam
nowych kontaktow na poziomie, wiec jakby ktos reflektowal niech pisze,
tradycyjne 100% answer gwarantowane. Jezeli ktos z was napisal do mnie
list kontaktowy i nie dostal odpowiedzi lub cos w tym rodzaju, to bardzo
prosze o kontakt, bo to na pewno jest wina poczty. Szczyce sie tym ze jak
na razie nikomu nie zajebalem dyskow i bardzo bym nie chcial, aby po
ludziach krazyly inne plotki. Takze jakby ktos czekal na odpowiedz dluzej
niz dwa-trzy miechy (jestem zwykle sporo szybszy, ale co tam, dam sobie
zapas ;) niech skontaktuje sie ze mna, ew. wysle ponownie list, gdyz w to
takze musi byc zamieszana nasza kochana poczta. Jakby co, to advert macie
na dole.
Ok, lame-english-mode now. I'd like to inform you that I'm still looking
for more nice contacts around the world, so if you'd like to swapp with
young, begining polish swapper, don't hesitate to write my addy on
envelope, write a nice letter, put some disks inside and send it. Of
course answer is guaranted for everyone! Oh, if someone sent me a contact
letter and didn't get reply, please contact me some way (e-mail, post card,
maybe phone, but my english is rather lame), coz it must be post. Also if
someone is waiting for letter longer than 2-3 months (usually I'm much
faster, but you never know.. ;) please contact me, and we will try to do

List jesto gotowy, najprawdopodobniej jutro ci go posle. Tym razem
postaram sie nieco ostrozniej potraktoac znaczki. Mam nadzieje ze z tych
naszych listow nie wynikna jakies nieprzyjemnosci, bo to byloby naprawde
glupie. I wierze ze kiedy spotkamy sie na jakims party, wychylimy ta
flaszke wodki, czy te twoje 10.5 =) No i spox, glupio by przeciez bylo

ze to w duzej mierze z mojej winy, ale wszystko masz w liscie, nie ma co

Respect dla ciebie! Sylwek okazal sie zajebisty, mam nadzieje ze Ilona nie
narzekala specjalnie na zniszczenia (bo niestety pewien pan przy mnie
rozwalil lampke) i na holote co sie wcisnela jej do domu. Ale bylo
zajebiscie i przekaz moje podziekowania Ilonie i calej rodzinie za

DEVOTION IS DEAD (WRITTEN BY MAGIC/NAH-KOLOR)
Hello dear sceners.. It's just one of those day's.. A diskmag dying for
all the wrong reasons.. (?) The past gave beatifull examples of this with
Propaganda and Upstream... Well let me tell you the facts sofar.. Darkus
and I were working hard on dvn#2.. I was doing my Magical Moments corner
and orginizing The Party Zone.. (both turned out very nice) orginized the
title picture from my groupmate Fame.. and so on.. We were very
motivated.. Than suddenly there wasnt almost any contact towards me from
darkus.. a real pitty :( But this happened before, so for me not a real
problem. I worked very hard on new articles and e-mailed my editorial,
ending column, the whole party zone, and 2 great interviews (rokdazone and
mavey of potion) to darkus his email addy.. No response back. Than later i
got one small email from Darkus saying he has a new email adres and that he
is best reachable at ICQ these days.. So I downloaded icq i really wanted
to talk with darkus to get dvn#2 released. I left a message.. but than my
HD crashed.. I could not use icq anymore.. (Luckely i save my articles on
a floppy also!!) After a short holiday (25-1-2001 I came back) I decited to
email darkus again.. (no email from him still :( I got a little desparate..
I really wanted to get dvn#2 out as everything was 99% done, and there wasnt
any contact between the two main-eds for a while.. I phoned him every day
the last week on his cellular but always some vodavone female voice told me
it was switched off.. Anyway today (27-1-2001) I got finally an email from
darkus! great! but when I read I didnt feel that good..

Right out of the blue.. From nowhere.. What did I do to deserve this? no
explanation why dvn#2 won't come? and a sentence towards me I have to ask
darkus to take over his mag. HIS mag? i always thought it was our
magazine? but indeed ofcourse i have to ask him. I think darkus referred
to my chat with Darkhawk on irc.. It's obvious i would like to continue dvn
if darkus quitted but there wasnt any chats between him and me for a long
while.. How could we talk about the situation without no communication ??
Why did darkus talk about the death of dvn and his leaving the scene with
other people than me? I emailed him many times no response.. I called him
no response.. SO i e-mailed darkus back:
Hi Darkus,
I am very sad that you quit before releasing dvn#2 , after all the ahrd work
we had.. Especially me with my great articles the last few weeks..
(rokdazone interview, mavey interview and so on..) You will undoubtfully
have your reasons to quit and not have time to release dvn#2 while
gfx,mods,contents is done..
In all honoustly, I would have hoped if something like this occured you
would contact me first by email or tried to get me on irc to talk about this
since we are the driving forces behind dvn.. Its a logical way to behave
with eachother..
I respect you as a scener and as a friend.. I hope you quitting benefits
your real life situation (i think it has something to do with that) but is
it fair that you hurt me with it?
Ofcourse I want to see dvn#2 release and ofcourse i wanna continue the
magazine.. It's obvious we were both the mained's.. Isn't it selfsih to
call it 'MY MAG' all of the sudden in the e-mail you send me?
Anyway I would very much like it if you could send me all dvn#2 stuff
(gfx,mods,articles) and the dvn code , i will buy 2nd hand amiga and edit
all contents myself.. You can write a farewell last article in dvn#2 and
thats a appropriate way to leave..
Please honour my wishes.. as you never talked to me about your plans i have
bad feelings and feel sad now I just read your email that dvn2 wont come..

But than I again read Darkus' email and I missed the P.S. in it the first
time I read his email. The P.S. said: "BTW, read all about me and
Devotion in the next EC. Darkhawk interviews me.."
Darkus is talking with darkhawk and not with me? Something isnt right..
All I knew is we were working on to get dvn#2 out as soon as possible and
now after long time of no contact with darkus, darkus emails me telling me
dvn#2 wont come and that he will explain all in the public in the new EC..
How strange.. for me this is really the death of Devotion.. A pitty.. I
cant understand it.. but the situation is like this i cant do anything
about it.. It wasnt my fault.. I am sorry for the people involved and all
the sceners who were waiting on dvn#2 .. I did my best, wrote articles and
collected articles and emailing them to darkus.. I really enjoyed working
on devotion and give the amigascene a nice diskmagazine..
Ah Well SIGH.. .. anyway in this archive you find my Magical Moments

websites article arent included in this archive.. It will be released later
this week in a new SPEED issue by case of nah-kolor...
Ah well.. things happen.. I am curious what Darkus told darkhawk, i will
read it in the Eurochart I guess.. in Anyway this is my story, how it
happened.. my good will was always there.. dont blame me for dvn's death.
My future looks bright .. I wont quit.. I will probably join another
diskmag or start a new diskmag with the help of my group nah soon.. enjoy
the reading of what's in this archive and enjoy fame's brilliant title

The reason for this archive is simple, i dont want my dvn#2 work (written
and collected) which took hours and hours seen in another diskmagazine.. I
hope you can understand this.. for me its not very easy situation to.. but
it happened and I cant do anything about it.. So i decited to release it in
this way.. I hope you can respect my situation and thus the decision I made

Yes, I'm from Poland :) and You probably don't know my handle but this is
not a good reason to stop reading now. Lately there were a lot of noise
caused "Poland contra West" case. I care deeply about good opinion of both,
so I decided to bring some idea into effect. People from West are amazed
that polish disk magazines are so high in charts and a lot of poles are
thinking on what about are articles in "not polish" zines... We need
something that reconcile East and West and I think that this could be a disk
magazine. Not an ordinary disk magazine but... At the moment this is only
a project, but if only someone from You Western people will help me then who
knows? If You want to know more about this unusual project then please
continue in reading.
Polish magazines are realy good but almost all of You dear readers don't
understand my native language and can't judge if it's true. I know that
there is a lot of good western magazines, but I have some friends in Poland
that understand only few words like: "f..k" or "beer" On the other side In
Poland we say that in western countries people know only two polish words:
"kurwa" and "wodka" :) This is not a good situation. And this is the main
reason for which I decided to make a new magazine. It will be filled with
the best articles taken from all polish zines - of course all articles will
be translated into english. But if You think that it's the end of this
story then You're wrong.
If You want to help in better understanding articles from "english
language magazines" in Poland then please contact me. Write me what You
think about it and of course send me some articles. I will do my best to
translate them. At this moment I'm the owner of the code from "Strefa
Mroku" - magazine about SF, RPG, UFO... - which is written in C and take
full advantage of graphics & music cards (AHI). With graphic nad some nice
modules there shouldn't be a problems and the only thing I need is a lot of
GOOD articles from west. If You have written something interesting for
"english language magazines" last year or simply want to publish something
new, then use "Yam" or other mail program send Your article and let me to
translate it to show your point of view on scene for polish readers. If
You're Editor-in-chief of a scene disk magazine then contact me in order to
cooperate.
I think that this project is worth of doing, so don't even try to say:
"I don't know where is Poland... I don't know who are You... I can't
help..." Now in the "age of internet" it's so easy to contact with everyone
and send articles, music, cliparts, and whatever You want. Don't waste the
time and give me the sign of life. I believe this will take a good turn.
