I have just been reading over some of the LDT texts, one in particular hit me.....n0soul, "No one respects geeks" (http://www.ldt.org.uk/ldt057.txt). It amazed me that this can be so true, in my mind i can fully quantify this to be a definate plausibility of fact rather than a far fetched dream.
Now im not saying this is mindless drivel, but its something that has obviously got a lot of thought in it, i like it, it may be to some individuals not true but lets put it this way. Who made the stuff that you are using to read this now? We did, who made the stuff that enables you to have your car? We did, who made it possible for you to enjoy the much varied life that you have now with automated TV and RADIO, The internet, even telephones.......We did.
So if you are thinking...ha what are these geeks talking about, im ok behind my desk in my 9 - 5 job managing these brain boxes, think again, it would only take the flick of one switch, or even a week of hardcore programming and you could be out of a job.......the only thing we dont have yet are computers that program themselves..
Who would make that?? It would be like making the never ending Bottle of Pepsi, the car that never needed fuel or tyres.....it would put yourself right out of business immediately.
But Noone would make that unless, of course, the price was right, but there is always someone available to program your replacement.
The future's ours to form now, you have had your time, your fun and success, now it is time for the geeks to show you what can be done and to form the future.
How could you cripple america?? Remove its computing power, it would bring it down to its knees, another option is reduce its oil imports and they would surly stop, but thats another issue entirely.
I know everyone has there influence in the short term, but the forseeable long term outlook is nice.
That outlook is GEEK.
