Schützenfest 2022

The Schützenfest in Paderborn this year is from 8 to 11 July.
So, today I went to the city center and recorded some videos.

A Schützenfest is a traditional festival popular in the small cities of northern Germany. It is a celebration of ancient traditions dating back 500 years or more and derives from regular meetings of rifle fraternities or rifle clubs.
During the festival, the best shooter is usually determined in a shooting competition. Here in Paderborn. it's about shooting a bird. The winner is elected King of the city and, according to the tradition, has to pay all members of the rifle club the beer for one entire year!
