THE MEETING
Shinji meets Dr. Ritsuko, who takes him along with Misato from unit 01. Here comes Shinji's father, Gendo, who tells his son to get on board 01 to beat the angel. Shinji, crying, refuses: his father only called him because he needed him. Gendo then calls Rei, who is carried on a stretcher on the spot, even though she could barely get up. At this point a tremendous explosion caused by the angel shakes the base.
