Classic Tiramisu ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿฐ


Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 4 hours 30 minutes | Servings: 12 servings

Ingredients:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (such as Kahlua or Tia Maria)
  • 2 (3-ounce) packages ladyfinger cookies
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Directions:

  • In a heatproof bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until well combined.
  • Place the bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water. Cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and lightens in color, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the bowl from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Add mascarpone cheese to the egg mixture and whisk until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated. Set aside.
  • In a shallow dish, combine brewed coffee and coffee liqueur.
  • Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture briefly, allowing them to soak up some of the liquid without becoming too soggy.
  • Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Spread half of the mascarpone mixture evenly over the ladyfingers.
  • Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of mascarpone mixture on top.
  • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with unsweetened cocoa powder.
