Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 40-45 minutes | Total Time: 2 hours, 55 minutes
Kcal: 230 kcal | Servings: 8 servings

  • 1 9-inch pie crust, unbaked
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups whole milk
  • Ground nutmeg, for sprinkling

  • Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  • Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate and crimp the edges as desired.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  • Slowly pour the hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking constantly to prevent curdling.
  • Pour the custard mixture into the pie crust.
  • Sprinkle the top of the custard with ground nutmeg.
  • Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the custard is set around the edges but slightly jiggly in the center.
  • Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, refrigerate the pie for at least 2 hours before serving.
