By Steve Hudgik I feel that part of having a good life is having good food to eat. There's a little space left in this month's issue, so I thought I'd pass along my recipe for "breakfast pizza." A breakfast pizza is very similiar to an omelette, except that it looks like a pizza. Start by preparing the eggs as you would for making an omelette or scrambled eggs. Pour them into a greased pan in the same way you would if you were making scrambled eggs and cook them at a medium-high temperature. If you want a "thick crust" pizza, use a smaller pan so that the eggs are about 1/4" to 3/8" deep when poured into the pan. For a...

In the early testing of the HomeCraft Personal Journal we've have had many people tell us that politics and society are intermixed and can not be separated. If we are going to find ways to make a better life for ourselves, we need to also be concerned about politics and government. So, we've decided -- at the last minute -- to add another section to the HPJ. A section for discussions about government. I'm actually adding this section about a week after the HPJ was released to some BBS' so this is a little rushed and there are not many comments. But, I did want to get this section in so you are aware that it is available. M...

There is a fundamental law the rules the universe. As much as some of us may wish it were different, economics (money) is the chief factor that determines success or failure. Whether in war or business, it is money that determines the winner (provided that the will to win exists). The point is that, if we do not receive a registration payment from you, the "law of money" means we will go out of business and there will be no future editions of the HPJ. If you purchased this diskzine from a shareware disk vendor or from a rack in a store, you have only paid the disk vendor for getting this copy of the HPJ to you. We have not received anythi...

The HomeCraft Personal Journal is distributed as shareware. As a result it will be available through 1000's of BBS's, shareware disk vendors, and information services around the world. And unlike normal magazines, which are on the news stand for only a month or so, the HPJ will stay in circulation - reaching new readers for several years! Yes! With an ad in the HPJ you could bring your message to millions! To be truthfull I have no way to determine exactly how many people will read the HPJ. There is no way to track, in particular, the BBSs that will carry the HPJ and the number of downloads they have. I can say, however, that we w...

Reach Millions! - With The HPJ
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AND STARTING The HomeCraft Personal Journal runs on any IBM or compatible PC with an EGA or VGA monitor and graphics card. Although the program will run from a floppy drive, a hard drive is almost necessary if you intend to read illustrated documents, due to the graphics overhead. You should also have at at least 256K of RAM (512K recommended) and DOS 2.1 or higher. If you run Microsoft Windows, you must run this program as a DOS application. Consult the Windows manual for details. To start the program from DOS, just type HPJ and press the ENTER key. THE CONTROL PANEL The control panel is the area visible at the botto...

Using the HPJ Software

HomeCraft Software operates a BBS which is being made available to readers of the HomeCraft Personal Journal. The primary purpose of this BBS is to provide software, technical support, and news-letters to registered users of HomeCraft's software for organizing collections. And it is through the graciousness of these collectors that they are making room for us on the BBS. (There's lots of room anyway). So I ask that, even if you are upset with something you've read in the HPJ, try to make responses sent through the BBS somewhat calm and rational. <g> And in the future, if we see enough HPJ activity on the BBS -- and if en...

The HomeCraft BBS
This will be a regular column in the HPJ -- a place for you to express your thoughts and say anything you want to say. Tell the world about the little things that make life worth living or that irritates you. What are you thankful for? What bother's you? What problems do you have? How would you make the world a better place? What would you change in your life? What makes you happy -- or sad? Our rules for this column are simple. We ask that you keep what you have to say to no more than two or three paragraphs. (Anything longer can be published as an article). And we will not publish anything that libels a person or group of people, or...

by Rosemary West Any good country fair has its fortune teller, modeled on the image of a mysterious gypsy woman swathed in colorful scarves and dripping with earrings. In the candlelit tent, shadows flicker and her bracelets softly jingle as she shuffles the cards. "Concentrate," she whispers, as you stare at the colorful pictures, the Empress, the Knight of Cups, the Lovers, the Ace of Swords. What do they mean? Can they really predict the future? The origin of the Tarot cards is unknown. They have been with us for hundreds of years, and are the ancestors of today's standard playing cards. Some scholars believe they originated in Egy...

Teaching Spelling To Young (2nd Grader) Children
by Steve Hudgik What do you do with a second grader that, in addition to being more interested in Nintendo than in school, does not seem able to learn. It could be that he is young for his grade - his birthday is in June which makes him one of the youngest kids in the class. It could be because he's a boy -- I've always heard that girls do better in school at this age. He seems to be intelligent and can remember the names of every insect in his insect book, but he just can't seem to remember how even the simplest words are spelled. My wife and I tried everything we could think of. Flash cards. Repetitive drills. Some weeks we&...

by Frank Selcome It was a place I had never been before. And now, here I was, in a bar filled with beautiful woman. I had been curious about this place, but never really interested enough to stop in until now. So here I was, I had just returned from a business trip, my wife was out of town, so I had stopped in at The King's Palace, a local bar featuring nude dancers. The thought of going into the King's Palace had never crossed my mind until I was called for jury duty in municipal court. As each potential juror was called, the defense attorney would ask them how they felt about nude dancing and The King's Palace. The case bein...
