Cellular Man in the Middle by cronus [cronus@iol.ie] I am basing this article on the workings of the Irish Eircell Cellular network which may or may not have any basis on the GSM specifications. I am far from a phreak, but I have proven this to work and I think it could be moulded into a very serious form of attack. This is a proof of concept rather than a how-to. For the novices in the audience, I shall explain the man in the middle attack. The name of the attack is the best explanation, because the attack centers around the idea that the evil person Bernice is in the middle of the two good people Alice and Catherine. Alice and Catherin...

my beliefs (tentative title) by fwaggle introduction it's my own personal beliefs that there is no single entity controlling our fates. sound like your atypical DALNet/#atheist member? perhaps. i don't consider myself to be atheist though, as most people don't know the full definition of the word. right now, i don't know it either, but i had it explained to me once and it made perfect sense that the majority of people who call themselves atheists aren't actually atheists - they're something else. regardless, we're not here to discuss that. i believe that the only entity governing what happens in our world ...

Sweet Eyebrow Lovin' by Kleptic (kleptic@grex.org) Shortly after becoming a Real Man (a "Real Man" being defined as a boy who grows hair in places other than his head including, but not limited to, his chest, chin, upper lip, belly button, back, booty, feet, peepee and cajones, nips, taint, dooberwhacker, and spreklepouch), I gradually became aware of an exceedingly strange phenomenon beginning to happen right in front of my eyes, or more specifically, right above my eyes. My left eyebrow seemed to have decided that it would be happier on the right side of my face, with the other one. Operation Grow Across the Gap and Make Sweet Eyeb...

Stupid Trick for bypassing the Morpheus queue. Disclaimer: Do not do this. I claim no responsibility whatsoever for your actions. The stupid trick: On my windows box I had morpheus installed, and always seemed to be waiting in a queue. Being bored and getting almost no response from the network itself I decided to try and bypass the queuing system. I found the IP of another user by port scanning his network looking for port 1214 in use. That is the default port that morpheus uses. Once you have the IP address all that is required it a web browser. All you have to do it enter http://127.0.0.1:1214 in the address window, replacing ...

Perl CGI Authentication 101 by cronus [cronus@whitedust.net] I'd like to begin by thanking kleptic for having more foresight than the rest of us with regard to the DoJ. I am very excited to see whats to come from the new DoJ camp in the future. If there is any one side of programming that I have had to revisit several dozen times in terms of perl programming, it has to be CGI authentication. I am assuming the reader already understands the rudiments of perl programming as well as CGI programming. The first problem that you are likely to encounter when trying to code an authentication aware CGI script is that the HTTP protocol is stat...

DirectX8 By: Strykar Direct X is an applications programming interface or API. This software is incorporated into Microsoft's operating system and it gives a bridge over which applications and games can access the various features that are supported by multimedia hardware such as 3D accelerators, soundcards, input devices such as joysticks, etc. If a particular graphics card can support a plethora of radically new features, it would amount to nothing if the API cannot support these functions. The primary aim of Direct X was to create a set of tools and interfaces that provides programmers with the building blocks neccesary for develo...

The GreyHat Guide to: cracking .htaccess/.htpasswd passwords ------------------------------------------------------------ /* foreword */ this article is intended to be an almost complete guide to cracking and protecting websites which utilize the .htaccess/.htpasswd method for controlling access to data. it's not intended to be a how-to guide for hacking websites. if you're looking for a simple howto and not interested in reading in-depth information, then this isn't the text for you. i'm considering writing a series of guides which for now i'm calling "grey hat guides", since i consider myself half whi...

The Discordant Opposition Journal by cronus [cronus@iol.ie] I am going to try and give a history of the DoJ since its inception, illustrated in its full horror. Issue #0 (Release One) was born in early November of 1998 when myself (cronus) and Rue-the-Day found ourselves with too much time on our hands. Both in school at the time, certain books had spawned a mutual interest in Discordia and the teachings associated with it. So getting the Discordant Opposition's backing of the zine wasn't too hard and seemed like a logical move. The first two issues rolled out with little following - we hadn't gotten the word out well enough ...
