Air in the Paragraph Line A journal of Jon Konrath's experiments in entropy Issue 7/September 96 Welcome to Hell: A new issue and new? format. Hello, and thanks for checking out the new issue. Maybe I should take a second to explain what's been happening with regard to publishing. First, I am no longer producing a printed version of the zine. This is largely economical, but there are also a few motivational and production issues behind the whole thing. The new way to get this is through the web. I'm archiving these at http://www.speakeasy.org/~jkonrath/zine.html and I will mail a message to everyone on my list when a ...

***************************** * AIR IN THE PARAGRAPH LINE * ***************************** A Journal of Jon Konrath's life, etc. Issue 6/August 1996 The Minimalist Issue I've become so apathetic, I don't even want to get up and use the computer. I mastered all of this issue in one pass on a legal pad while half-asleep in bed, and never mailed out hard copies to anyone because I'm out of stamps. Sorry. Let me summarize what's up. First, this. I've been thinking of killing the zine. Maybe I will. But I needed to get something out so people didn't think I died. There are few things that have hampered my productivity since July. They are:...

Air in the Paragraph Line A journal of Jon Konrath's writing and other crap Issue 5/ July 1996 [Pre-press Draft, July 2. 1996] Apocalypse Now starts with no credits, no plot buildup, and no beginning title. I always liked that. Not only was it unconventional, but it was realistic. Life doesn't follow the perfect plot curve, with a buildup, a climax, and a bunch of closure, padded on both sides with credits, notes, and explanations of the unexplainable. Life just isn't as predictable; the interesting bits are too spread out, the problems too interlaced with the joys and boredom. And if they made a film of my life, where would they cas...

Air in the Paragraph Line A Newsletter about Jon Konrath's writing and life Issue 4 - June 1996 The latest: Hello again and welcome. If you're new to Air in the Paragraph line, let me give the quick, ever-changing synopsis. This is a newsletter describing my trials and tribulations as a writer in Seattle. I use it to tell my friends about what's up with my life, keep people updated about my writing, and unleash some prose to the world. So let's get started here... First, thanks to everyone who replied about the last issue, especially about my trip to San Francisco. I'm glad some people enjoyed the story I wrote, maybe in some future issu...

Air in the Paragraph Line A Newsletter about Jon Konrath's writing and life. Issue 3- May 1996 Why I'm bummed: I missed the fucking earthquake! After living in the midwest for my entire life, I finally move to a city that has an occasional tremor, and every time I look at the crack in the wall left from the last minor quake, I wonder when the next one will hit. So I was in San Jose for a week, and when I got back on Thursday, I found all of my spices on top of the stove knocked over, and a big stack of paperbacks toppled on the floor. I thought maybe I knocked the stuff over during my manic last-second packing earlier in the week, and fo...

Air in the Paragraph Line A Newsletter about Jon Konrath's writing and life. Issue 2- April 1996 Here's the gig: Hello again and welcome to the show that never ends. It's been a busy month in the rainy city I like to call Seattle, but I'm still here. If you're new to AITPL, let me start with a ten-second explanation. You're holding a brief update of the last month of my life. Some people read it because they're my friends and like to know I haven't jumped off an 8 story building yet, while others are wondering what's up with my writing projects. And yet others just like the fucked-out collage of prose contained within. So put down that c...

Air in the Paragraph Line A Newsletter about Jon Konrath's writing and life. Issue 1- March 1996 My latest deal: Hey all. I'm still alive and kicking it up here in Seattle. This is my latest attempt to keep in touch and distribute some of my most fucked-up day to day writing to those interested, and keep you updated on larger projects. I'm still plugging away on two books, in addition to other projects. Summer Rain, my first book, has been in a continual editing process, and I'm hoping for a good final draft by summer. I've been focusing on making it 'thicker', and bringing out some of the hidden emotion that I don't feel I correctly con...
