I have read about the Gameboy II, which will have colour graphics.

Subject: Font editor for 24-pin printers needed

Hello all,

I need to design a font for 24-pin matrix printer (the NEC P6, but I think
the fonts are the same on any generic Epson-compatible 24 pin printer).

I have a PD font editor, but am nowhere near satisfied with the program.
I would have sent in the shareware fee for the sources, but the program was
written in Basic which I hate.

Does anyone know of a good font editor for 24-pin printers in the public
domain, that takes into account such things as the "No-needle-may-fire-twice"
problem etc., or source to a font editor that could be adapted without too much
work?

All sources in a serious language, such as C, Pascal, or APL, will be con-
sidered. If I adapt and/or modify the program, the result will be placed in
the PD as well.

Thanks for any and all info.

PS: As a last resort, I'll take a PC program as well! :-)

I have been using code similar to the following to read the joystick, but I
want to know whether this is a 'legal' method. I know it works on TOS 1.0 and
1.4 (Yes you can get TOS 1.4 in Oz now 8-) but I haven't tested it on other
versions of TOS and I would like to be able to sure it will work with future
versions.

Here is the code:

-------
#include <osbind.h>

main()
? int i;
int *loc;
long *ssp;

loc = 0xfffc02;

ssp = Super(0);
for (i = 0; i < 500; i++)
printf("%d %d\n ", Bconin(4), *loc);

printf("turning off mouse.\n");
Bconout(4, 0x12);

printf("turning joystick on.\n");
Bconout(4, 0x14);

for (i = 0; i < 500; i++)
printf("%d %d %x\n ", Bconin(4), *loc, *loc);

printf("Turning mouse on.\n");
Bconout(4, 0x08);
Super(ssp);
?
-------

By the way the Bconin doesn't seem to provide anything useful, just a constant
value.
Thanks in advance for any help,

Rupert G. Goldie

Hey, I need to buy a decent compiler for the ST... How does Laser C
rate vs. Prospero C? I know megamax has been around longer and so I
tend to trust their compiler a tad more, but then I saw an add
stating that Prospero was ANSI... is Laser? How about bugs in both
compilers? Anything major? (Mark Williams is full of bugs).

If anyone has ANY experience with either Laser or Prospero, please
e-mail me some info.. thanks in advance!

How do you know that the "siz able ad blitz" [sic] was a flop? From all
indications, it's too early to tell how well or how poorly Comm_o_dore did.

Somebody on the BBS I run posted a message saying that it has shipped,
and he has his. The first (few) batches will go to those who have
already sent in their coupons to get PCD II for $150. Then I guess it
will be available to everybody else.

A company in Germany called IKS has come out with a US$90 product
that installs in your SM124. I read a review in the January
issue of 68000ST, and they seemed to think it was a solid product.
It produces grey scale to emulate the low and med resolutions
of the ST. If anyone is interested in the address, or if any
Germans out there have the product, I'd be interested to hear
from you. I will order one in late January and post my experience.

Prices listed were DM129 for the board and chips
DM149 for the board assembled
DM259 (I think) to send in your monitor and
have it installed...

I'm writing a C program and have a small problem - I want to time how long
a call to the Random ( ) XBIOS function. The problem is that I can't figure
out how to time it in increments smaller than 2 seconds.

I am looking for data pertaining to the longitude and latitude of as
many cities in the world as possible in order to write an
astrological plotting program. Does anyone know where I may
find them or could someone possibly send them?

Thanks in advance.
