No, they do it that way in the UK, i.e. everything the other
way around. They have special cars, they have special mailers, too.
His problems must come from some other source.

If you take out a single sided drive and put a double sided drive in
you should take the small adapter board away. I did with my 1040 drive
and it worked O.K. until I got my mega, and as far as I know it still
is.

Help!!!
Could someone post me uniterm 2.0e please!!!

How do you get Atari U.K. to give you tos 1.4 on roms, I already have it
on disk but it takes a while to load it in. As far as I can see it anly
speeds up the hard drive access (not counting the new dialog boxes).

Could you tell me please!!!

Pete.

Someone asked about the grease under the keys?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but:
The stuff is lubricant put on the wire handle looking things so that the
keys don't hang or have friction when you strike them. Only the larger
keys have this (Return, Shift, Alt, Etc)

Try a German ST magazine, they're full of it (REALLY).

The German magazine mc did a replacement that was 100 % compatible,
way back (say -88 ..). The idea is to

-1 Take a very hard look at the ST circuit diagram,
note down the keyboard matrix, connections to
the IOContl etc.

-2 Build a new keyboard matrix with REAL keys, connect
to original keyboard controller etc.

There you are. It involves taking the thing completely apart, though.
You should be able to buy the circuit diagram (The local dealer
here carries it in his catalogue).

All the boxes that connect to the MIDI port are a loss, in my
opinion, for the reasons noted by Mark. Anyway, is there a way
to get the `both SHIFT keys are pressed' kind of data out from
a PC keyboard and into the ST MIDI/serial port ??????
(I once saw a program that needed this key-combination).

I will be adding a new keyboard to my ST (right after the
harddisk and the 2MB exta memory, sigh).

So he can't send a computer to the U.S. Does this mean that he can't sell
to an American who has come north to purchase a computer? I doubt it.
(I've never yet been asked to prove that I'm a Canadian).

I am afraid it probably was coincidence. I've just caught onto this
topic which is currently of great interest to me as last night I had
just this sort of problem while using TIMEWORKS.

As far as I am aware, these disks have never been anywhere near any other
software (except 1stWord) as I always switch off before using business
progs. I do not have a hard disk so I suspect the problem is not viral.
However, I am going to try to reproduce the problem and also check out
the floppies.

The symptoms I had were-
Selection of menu items required slight mouse movement after
the click to take effect.
Keyboard strokes also required slight mouse movement for the
character to be displayed.

Any tips/help etc would be appreciated, preferably by e-mail as I
cannot always guarantee to read the net within our 3 day expiry.
Equipment is 1040 STe.

John.

I wrote (many many times!) and phoned (..!) to

Atari Corp. (UK) Limited
Atari House
Railway Terrace
Slough
Berkshire
SL2 5BZ

But I think only registered developers are supposed to get it at this time.
Despite that some non-developers have got a copy!

Yes, WordPerfect does have an 'education discount' on ST WordPerfect...

It costs $99, and is identical to the normal commercial version in all
ways except the color of the binder (and, in fact, I bought my educational
package just as WP was hitting the shelves 2+ years ago, and have the
standard binder!)

You can order directly from WordPerfect (you'll need an order form, available
from WP or from some computer stores) and you need to be able to show a
valid school ID.

WP's address is:
288 West Center Street
Orem, Utah 84057

The phone number for the atari support divison is 1-800-321-3271.

The order form for the educational version is fairly generic (it lists all
platforms; you check off the one you want) and should be available at just
about any computer store. I got my order form from an Amiga dealer. When
I was looking for another order form several months later, I ran into trouble.
I went into one IBM-based computer chain (Entre, in the DC area) and was told
that WP didn't have a discount program (HAH!). The next store I tried told
me that they could sell me the educational version, but they refused to give
me an order form! (This was an ST store, and I needed the IBM version of the
program). Finally, another ST store gave me an order form.

Good luck

Jeff
