Well, maybe it helps to place all the documentation to the net. There
are so many readers, who are interested in it, I think. Maybe this is
the only and fair way to get the documentation. What about
other opinions?

I have the version currently on a.a which has German messages. I see that there
is a clisp-e.arc on the Karlsruhe archive which I am attempting to d/l at the
moment. I will sling it up to a.a if/when I manage to get it d/led.

I will also try to get the examples.

I have sucessfully uploaded both files to atari.archive. Interested parties
should look for clisp-e.arc and examples.zoo in %ftp/atari/languages.

Subject: Gnustuff updates
To: Info-Atari16@naucse.cse.nau.edu

++jrb has released the following GNU s/w update which now appears on
atari.archive in directory %ftp/atari/gnustuff/tos/updates as "update14.zoo".
++jrb comments:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you use mintlib and not tos lib (or if you use both) then you should be
paying attention to changes in the following library files and merging the
changes into the corresponding files in mintlib yourself, or you may wish to
wait for Eric to release an updated version.

main.c, unlink.c, fread.c, scanf.c (replace with this file), atof.c,
crt0.c, gmon.c, malloc.c, sbrk.c, isatty.c, unistd.h, mkdir.c.

see the Changelog diffs to see what the changes were.

Of course the changes in gemlib, pml, curses, etc are all applicable to both
tos and MiNT users.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AFAIK, none of these updates have been applied to the archives in gnustuff/tos

There are two CPXs I'd like to have. I don't know if these have
been written, and if they're available, as archie searches are
difficult without a filename. If these exist, and are available for
anonymous ftp (or mail server, as our name server isn't working yet so
I can't use Terminator) please tell me.

1. Disk step rate control. I have one 5 1/4" drive and one 3 1/2"
drive, and I'd like to set a 6ms step rate for the 5 1/4".

2. Boot up control. I'm currently using a desk accessory and auto
program called Autoload which loads AUTO programs from a list, so that
they don't have to be in the AUTO folder of drive C. Is there a CPX
based version of the same trick, to save slots?

Thanx, Adrian

You didn't mention what model of ST or what version of TOS you're using.
>From your description, I'll bet lunch that the TOS version is < 1.4.
Old TOS converts .TTP arguments to upper case. That won't work with
ZOO. (If you were using a command interpreter shell, such as Gulam or
Mupfel, you would not have a problem.)

I'm mailing you, separately, a copy of ZOOSHELL that is archived with
ARC.TTP. You should be able to extract it using any version of ARC, and
then ZOO should be easy to use.

I'm still looking for software to drive a generic SCSI tapedrive through

responses referencing a TSR and backup application written by Paul
Moreau, but alas, none of the people that had a copy were willing to

sources for it.

Does anybody have sources for this thing, or anything else that's able
to talk to SCSI devices? A related question; is the panarthea archive

recently. Is there another place that archives comp.sources.atari?

The trick I use on such occasions when my HD isn't switched on is to open two
windows. One with the archive and archiver and the other empty to receive the
data. Make the empty drive the active window and so the current directory.
Hold down the right hand mouse button and double click with the left button on
the archiver. This allows you to start up an application from the non-active
window. Specify the exact path, including drive, to the TTP commandline then
press return. Some experimentation with RAM disc size may be necessary.

Or use a shell ...

A few years ago Intelligent Music put out an interesting sequencer
called "
RealTime" that gives you virtually unlimited number of tracks
(you run out of tracks when you run out of memory) and lots of unusual
and interesting features.

Dr.T's Music software took over distribution of many of Intelligent Music's
products (including 'M', the interactive composing tool), and is now
offering a closeout on RealTime if you order directly from them. It
originally sold for $200+, and now they are selling it for $80. I got
a copy, and while I will continue to use KCS Omega as my primary sequencer,
RealTime offers some interesting options and variation for those times
when I want to experiment or be a little more 'spontaneous' than I can be
with KCS.

You can order from Dr.T's directly at (617) 455-1454.

Yes these are Seagate ST157N drives, not as fast as the New Quantum LPS105S..

_show_ this spring at CeBIT, but won't actually hit the shelf until 12
to 18 months after that.

Regarding "broadcast graphics resolution", that probably means something
like 1024x768, like the supposedly upcoming 24-bit board mentioned in
c.s.atari.st.tech (I hope it's true, and also available for a "humble"
TT030 :-) )."

What to do:

Pick up a copy of the January 1992 issue of _AmigaWorld_. (gasp!)

Read the articles on '040 accelerators for $2500 or so.

Look at the ads for 24-bit, up to 1280x1024 graphics boards, RAM boards
with up to 64 Meg, desktop-video boards, and tons and tons of very
groovy graphics software.

Also, take a look at a Mac Quadra or an Amiga 3000/25 at your local
computer store, which by this point is denying that Atari ever existed.

Weep for the state of Atari product design and marketing.

Flames are expected but not particularly appreciated.

I have a 9600 dialup connection to a decserver and connect to a sun
at work, and I have a few things I have to do to get zmodem to work.
First I call up and connect to the server, then I connect to the sun.
After I am logged in I go back to the server and set the session to
passall. I go back to the session and then run zmodem like so:
sz -w 2048 filename.ext

It works fine for me.. I get an average throughput of 1100 cps....

Hope this helps???

Oh, the server is a decserver....
