While transferring the motherboard of the newly found XBOX v.1.6 to a different case (old or new), or even while probing the different components found on the new motherboard, you might be surprised that your pride and joy will refuse to power on. Don’t panic! The chances are the standby power regulator has gone down and needs repair.

The problem is found near the new Xyclops chip.

With reference to the picture below the Blue circled small signal transistor (marked 2T on its case) is used by MS as the output power transistor for the standby regulator.

To verify that your problem is related to this component, a simple voltage test at the collector of the transistor while the unit is in standby mode, should give you a stable 3.25V if all is okay, or a unstable voltage of less than 3V if the transistor has been damaged.

How to test:
Using a multimeter you must measure the collector voltage on 2T:

By using a standard multimeter set to DC Volts, put the black (ground) probe to any ground point, usually any screw hole, and red probe on the collector of the transistor, you should get stable 3.25V. If not then transistor has been damaged and needs replacing.
