Feeling 8
You sit at your room. Staring at the screen. Thinking.
You've been in the scene for a long time. You've gained some recognition
and earned respect around the scene. You got your friends in the scene
you usually talk to or produce with. And now you got this feeling of...
Where am I heading from here? What's my future in the scene?
Or maybe even.. What's the future of the scene itself??
This feeling hits each and every scener one time or another. Some do
their own priorities and quit the scene, some decide to become more
active, and some... Some of us just get stuck in this feeling, doing
absolutely nothing to change it. Be true to yourself - How many times
have you felt like quitting the scene? How many times have you felt
like the scene have no future, or atleast not a one you're interested
in? I bet 99% of you out there felt '8' (that's how I call this feeling
- eight) atleast once or twice, if not more.
What's causing it? Well, it's not so obvious as you may think and most
of you will probably answer 'I donno, I just lost interss' on that
question. Now, I'm not into writing a long psychological research on
this so I'll be straightforward. It's always starts after quite of while
of doing nothing. Then, you look around in finding interesting stuff
made by other sceners in Israel. You find none or too few/shity to
mantion. Desperately you look around for good products from the rest of
the world scene. If it's a weak period or the time before alot of
parties, you probably doesn't find good products around the world. NOW
you're bored. You feel you're wasting your time on the scene, producing
absolutely nothing. Soon enough you're thinking 'What the hell happened
to the scene?! Its not that fun any more.. Nothing happens...' And then
you know you're feeling 8...
For comfort, lets list these issues:
1. Not producing anything yourself for a long time.
2. No good/not at all local products
3. No good/not at all world-scene products
4. Boredom
If you got so far in the article - it means you're interested in the
issue. Which means you do feel 8 from time to time, but you're willing
to give the scene another chance. Good. We're already on the right road.
Let me show you why you SHOULD stay in this wonderful world/hobby/life
called the SCENE.
I can devide the reasons for feeling 8 into 2 categories:
1. You - Producing nothing, lake of inspiration, no new ideas
2. Around - Nothing seems to be happening around you in the scene
Lets face it - we're all 'creative' types. We're in the scene for the
fun, friendship and CREATIVITY. We like to see and hear beautiful
things. Most of us get into the scene (and stay there) trying to create
those things ourselves, and usually do! We might be rookies or veterans,
but most of us are here to CREAT! What we forget, usually due to our
young nature (face it.. most of the sceners are teenagers or soldiers..)
that everyone, even as creative as us, gotta have his dry periods. A
time of no creativity. None. Zilch. Zero, Null, whatever you name it.
Plus, we got our own real life around - studies, tests, friends, girls
and whatever we do in our life. We're not the WaReZ ScEnE with dudes-
that-have-no-life. What am I trying to say here? I'll say it laud and
clear: Lighten up. Nothing wrong in lacking creativity from time to
time! Live your life, go out n' have fun - come back to produce whenever
you'll feel like it! The scene is here and its here to stay. If you feel
you need a break - take it and come back full and energized!
'What about the scene?' you say. 'I feel the scene is dying!!'
Bullshit. The demo and art scene first evolved on the Comodor 64 around
1988-1989. The scene, despite its endless changes, is alive and kicking
for almost 10 years. Not 1, not 2 and not even 4 months of 'no activity'
means its dead. 'And the scene in Israel?' you might be asking.. Well..
to save you history lessons, the scene in Israel is growing REALY good
from year to year. Comparing with other Europeans countries in our size,
we're actually quite active! It may not look like it, but did you know
that in Belgium, where wierd'97 party was held, there are only around
100 sceners? We have around 200. Also, remember that you might not be
getting all the stuff flying around! In Coders F/X I can show you demos
none of you ever watched! Modules none of you ever heard! Graphics none
of you ever saw! Sources and Tutors none of you ever looked at! And I'm
speaking THIS year products. CFX BBS holds 2.4Gb dedicated to the scene.
How much to YOU have? How much have you SEEN?
I hope I gave you enough reasons to have second thoughts about your
8's. Just to finish this article in a happier mood... I'm not saying
your feelings are not in place. I HOPE each and every one of you had
and WILL HAVE 8's in the future. But the answer on 'should I leave
the scene?' should be 'no.' We're in the scene and we're having fun.
YOU're having fun. Not all the time, but most of it!
Now go eat something nice. Look outside. Breath.
Go call your friends, leave this CFX News and go CREAT SOMETHING!

with some programmers of commercial companies, the whole archive
is gonna be scanned soon for commercial software. This means you
will have to ASK me personally if you'll need anything like WC++
or 3DSmax... All this stuff goes off the bbs from the coming
weekend. Please, do not U/L this kind of software to the Public
uploads areas. Tnx...
(*) Inspire the discussion, a new file area dedicated to MP3 is now
available. To keep most of the space still dedicated to the scene,
however, we'll only keep good songs over there. What's good or not
is up to the sysop to decide... (hmpf... Here goes.. Only strange
songs will be there, eh? ;)

(*) Seems some sceners misunderstood the 'Movements Survey' voting
booths. To make it clear - this is a survey about Movement'95 &
Movement'96! You're *NOT* been expected to know anything about
Mov'97. That's why answers like 'How can I know' or 'I hope' were
deleted. Please, Do not answer about other parties also (For e.g.
Mov95/96 voting systems never failed.. Why asking 'don't let it
fall AGAIN' ? :)
(*) You now read the Pre-info for MOVEMENT'97 on 2 places: Press 3
from the parties around menu, or go to the Scene Times Magazine.
The reason the file is for online viewing only is that there is
alot to fix and update there, and we hope users will help pointing
on mistakes or bring new ideas.
(*) Seems the Online games are highly popular lately. The CFX Team
is about to develop a new door game based on our scene! Wait
and see. It will probably be based on LORD 2 control style (i.e.
moving with arrows, more ansis, less text to read)
