This mere is silence,
lucid as the mountain's rushing streams
but incorporeal- the crystal depths
reflecting the hoary heads
of the ancient hills in
their white majesty.
The hush of a world
before dawn is upon the
still earth. The rose
glow in the east warms,
reddening with the coming of the Dawn.
The sun dancing and glittering
breaks over the waters with
mercurial delight at the rebirth of the sun
The firmament brightens, the ice begins to melt,
running in tricklets, then streams, then
torrents- rushing and running down rocky paths as
the fresh breeze wafts, a love of wet, green things
unfolding, slow as the dawn, blooming into
life ...this epiphanic glory
persisting in vivacious things, in
the vis of existence- the world becoming
from death unto life do you see
there? in the small cavern
by this glacial brook, the brown
giant is rousing himself from the grasp of
winter. Emaciated
from the starvation
of ice, he lumbers into
the light, and there-
a newborn fawn(with life anew)
dances through the dappled
forest ( La mere du
printemps ) the rythmic
silent sleep of love?
then the fresh revelation
of light blinding and burning
unfurls the blooms and

this ancient rite of patient
arousal, Intimacy
without frenzy this
glory of an inillusory
passion:art is god-
l'amour quand les etoiles
de nuit qui ont brille changent

l'aube
