I feel a little guilty about that one...

Of course. Though I think it's the "least good" Bob Hund show I've _seen_.
This was the 7th or 8th (no, I'm not an obsessive fan) and, well, visually
this one was pretty boring. In Bob Hund terms, because even when they're
boring, they're still funnier to see than most bands. Musically though, I
thought they sounded better than ever. I've never heard them play such a
good version of "Allt p} ett kort"!

Um, no, I don't really remember a lot of songs they played... well, a
look on their records might help.. just a second.. ah, there. Sure did,
here's what they played (in no order):

Allt p} ett kort

I might've forgotten some. And I think they played one or two songs
that I'd never heard before.

Nope, I don't think they played that one. Are you sure?

Yeah, I think that when the drunk-pit-people-that-think-Bob-Hund-is-some-
sort-of-a-funny-freakshow (the people that scream stuff like "SHOW THE
WOODEN LEG!"
) started to go to Bob Hund concerts, their shows have sort
of lost the thing that made grown men cry. IMHO that's pretty sad.

Take care,

Subject: finnish tape #2, anyone?

Hi everybody,

If nobody objects, I am thinking about compiling another Finnish
tape to be run as a chain here, as there is a lot of good new music
that is coming up (or has been recently released) here. I know that
many of the persons who are on the first Finnish chain haven't even
gotten the tape yet, but nevertheless I thought I'd start working on
the follow-up to that mildly popular compilation.

I've got some ideas what to include, but as always I am open to all
kind of ideas and suggestions about what bands should be on there and
which should absolutely be left out, but I have no intention to go
through the similar kind of voting process Erik had for the Swedish
tape :) Naturally I welcome any discussion about the subject on this
list. I'll post updates once I get something going.

One thing I should add is: DON'T SUBSCRIBE YET!! It will most likely
just result in me losing your subscription message before the tape is
ready :)

That could be a good idea. I have the same suggestion as always: I'd
like to see more of that sisu shown by all the suomi noise rockers...
Psychoplasma, Radiopuhelimet, Mana Mana, Faff Bey, Sielun Veljet, AD,
Electric Blue Peggy Sue and the Revolutionions From Mars, Hefty Load...
Not to forget the techno/noise wizards Panasonic.

That's the sort of relentless music Finland is known for, and that's
what I want to hear. I know it's not exactly new music, but so what?
Imho there was way too much twee tra-la-la pop on the first tape.
Well, you called for a discussion, and I started it :)

Boy, I wish I could go to that Mana Mana gig in memoriam of Jouni Mommo.

I just thought that maybe someone who has the new Cardigans' album,

Lovefool which sounds amazingly ...fresh.

By the way, did you know that Todd Terry has mixed The Cardigans'
Lovefool under Motor Music label!? - some people are really openminded

I'm new to the list. I'm from Jakobstad in Finland. These are some of my
favourite bands: My Bloody Valentine, Sonic youth, Pavement, Sebadoh,
Blues Explosion, Palace Brothers, Bjork, Tocotronic, the Cure, Velvet
Underground, +others. Now we've got the obligatory thing cleared up...

If i've understood you right, yr making a mixed tape of Finnish bands.
Well you are going to put some Bad Vugum bands on this thing right?
Sweetheart, Circle, deep turtle etc? And Laika& the Cosmonauts (my personal
favourite)

I'm sorry if it's bad manors, but i would like to use the list for some
promotion: Music organization Queen Bee in Jakobstad is producing a double
cd with local bands. There is going to be some good stuff on this thing,
including our band Brother Stuart. Look for this cd in the near future.

Queen Bee is also planning for this year's concert program in J:stad,
so when we find a suitable venue, look forward to some great noise up here.

I have been listening to the new album quite a lot and I think it is a lot
better than "Life" (I mean the original album, not the mish-mash version
with tracks from "Emmerdale"), mainly because there are no tracks that I
want to skip each time I listen to it. Still,

I like the debut "Emmerdale" best. And of course Cloudberry Jam are much
better in my opinion... :)

I don't think this helped much...maybe somebody out there can write a proper
review?

Agreed, these are all very good bands in their genre, but somehow I don't
feel capable of putting together a represetentative tape about all the
noisemasters in Finland. I really hope some other Finnish listmember would
take up the job, there must be somebody out there with the complete Bad
Vugum back catalogue, right? :)

>That's the sort of relentless music Finland is known for, and that's

Yeah, but I am a twee tra-la-la kind of a guy, you know... :) Seriously
speaking, a part of the reason why I wanted to compile the tape in the first
place was to let people know that not all the music from Finland is full of
violent guitars and guys screaming like raving madment (nothing wrong with
that though).

Later, a message from: "teir, philip" <Pueblo@multi.fi> said:

>If i've understood you right, yr making a mixed tape

That's right. Maybe it's time for Erik to re-post the guidelines and the
basic idea of what the whole tape chain thing is about? Maybe those messages
should be sent automatically to new subscribers? Or are they already??

> Well you are going to put some Bad Vugum bands on

As I said above, it's not very likely; basically because I don't have a lot
of (especially recent) releases by these cool bands.

This is quite likely to happen, though!

> I feel a little guilty about that one...

Heh, you definitely don't have to - they (The Wellmeant) were as surprised
as the rest of us that they were playing the first slot. If everything works
out for them (as I suspect it will) I think we'll get to see them live again.
And as Mats (from the band) is a close friend with one of the guys booking
bands here at Herrg}r'n, I'll bet they'll play here before the year is out.

> Nope, I don't think they played that one. Are you sure?

Yes, I'm positive even. That was the first one they played with Thomas
standing on the chair (if you remember, the audience around him didn't
know when to jump and when to stand still or what to do at all at
first.. :-))

Definitely true. It felt sort of like most of them were there first just to
see Thomas do his "stunts", with the music just as a "bonus". Dunno how
the Linkoping gig was because I couldn't go. :-(((

This is already in the stores, at least here in Stockholm.
Haven't bought it, though. Shit-ugly cover (IMHO).

quick as I usually (actually) do right now. I'll be back on sunday/
