WhatsApp is updating its terms and privacy policy

One day in January, when starting WhatsApp, I received the following message:

Of course I immediately selected the NOT NOW button, as I don't want to receive Facebook's Ads on WhatsApp !!!

Today is February 9, 2021 and WhatsApp is still working fine on my Android phone. Furthermore I did not receive any further message.

By searching online, I discovered Facebook decided to postpone the merge Facebook-WhatsApp by moving forward the date to accept its new terms to May 15, 2021 .

Just wondering ... why Facebook did not inform me about this decision with a new message ?? Why do I have to discover it from internet ?
