Bugs: None to my knowledge, except that it won't compile under BCC 3.x.
I will fix this as soon as I finish my paper due tomorrow. :) It's
nothing hard to fix BTW, though it seems sort of nasty.

Code not done: Personally, I have no idea what is and isn't done except
that the interface IS done. Oh, I do know one thing that isn't done. We
need to write interfacing routines for each of the new options (which I
confess I don't even know.)

DeuSF (part of the DeuTex set) can do this, I think.

Hmm... not sure if doomed don't screw the reject somehow...
I'd recommend running your wad thru rmb ... another reject generator.
This one is v good.
I think the most current version is 2.1

You can't. F_Sky1 may LOOK like the sky, but it is really a cleverly
painted ceiling. F_Sky1 is not "opening a hole in the map for the sky to
show through", it is painting the ceiling with magic paint.

The only way to replace a single sprite is to patch the IWAD. If you want
to replace a sprite using a PWAD you have to replace ALL of them.

Subject: Shareware vendors profiting from DEU.

I Just thought that those of you donating all of your hard work into DEU
might be interested in a flyer I received today...

Public Brand Software sells shareware on diskettes for $3.95 per diskette.
DEU is distributed on two diskettes, thus costing $7.90 to purchase a
program released as freeware.

They are also selling a 'Doom Mania' package consisting of Doom Jumble,
Doom Control Center, Doom Master, and the Doom FAQ. 3 disks for $11.85

I personally think that $3.95 per diskette is *way* out of line for
what a company should expect to get for distributing shareware, and is
crossing into the realm of profiting from other folk's hard work.

If any of the programmers of the above titles want more information
about this flyer, drop me a note, and I'll give you further info on where
to contact this company.

Happy Hacking,
=Gregg=

Typed 'doom -file tmp.wad', and walked all over looking for HOM.

What do you mean "of course he needed to use REJECT"?
REJECT is a fast but not very good reject builder.
You should really try RMB.
(RMB v 2.0 is in the NEWSTUFF dir on infant2)

REJECT is bound to change your monsters behaviour,
whereas RMB only does that if you tell it to...

I have no clue why REJECT acts this strange,
You will have to ask the author.

Btw. a bug has just been found in RMB v 2.0.

I saw an ad some time ago in a San Diego newspaper offering a "DOOM add on kit"
(yes using the official DOOM logo) on CD that contained "100's of add
on levels, secret cheat codes, and tools to make your own levels" for
$29.95. I happen to know that, in quantity, music CDs cost about
$4.00 a pop to produce (including studio recording time). Now I don't
know how much of that extra money is going to authors but I'd be
willing to guess.

If you want details I'll have to dig but, I would be happy to do it.

Actually the most recent version is v 2.0.
(I might have mistakingly said v 2.1 in some post)
So don't look for v 2.1. I only have a VERY
early alpha version of v 2.1

As a service to all would-be wadsters, I'm please to announce the all-new

WANNABE A WADSTER WORLD WIDE WEB PAGES!!

All you've ever wanted to know about WADs and more!!

Available NOW from http://cres1.lancs.ac.uk/~esasb1/doom/index.html

Well, actually there's not much there, yet and none of it's new! In fact
it's all ripped off from infant2 (when it was infant2..., sigh). These
pages are an experimental service, offered to wadsters just setting out on
the long road to DOOM level heaven. All suggestions for improvement or
correction will be gratefully received - there's plenty of room for
improvement at the moment. Please feel free to browse and criticise. (and
if you're the author of any of the stuff I've used and object to my use of
it, please accept my apologies in advance and let me know you want it
removed). Eventually, it'll all be rebuilt using original and proper
hot-linked stuff. If you have pages you'd like me to link to, then let me
know that too. There'll be more there by Monday, I promise.

Cool however you might want to take a look at DoomGate since there is a lot
of the same info you have there and some of it is also in HTML format.

Walnut Creek CDROM (the company I work for), sells the "Toolkit for DOOM"
CDROM for $19.95. It has over 7,500 files on it. Including over 550 WADs,
ready to run from the disc. I think that's a reasonable price, eh?

Hmm.. what happens if they put a WAD on that says "don't put me on a
CD".. Is that a legally binding statement, or just pointles. I didn't
mention anything like that in my text files, so I wonder if they used my
levels..

We deleted every WAD that said not to place it on a CD, or sell in a
retail environment. We deleted several borderline WADs too. It's of
course only to be on the safe side. However, I highly doubt anyone
would really mind too much. It does distribute their work widely, and
that's the whole idea of releasing their work anyhow.

The "Toolkit for DOOM 2" CDROM is in the making. It will contain everything
from the first disc, plus MUCH more. It's not directly for DOOM 2, however
most likely all the WADs will be in DOOM 1 and DOOM 2 format (there is a
converter now, that does a good job.), all ready to run.
