not actually married :) its a metaphor. what i really mean is that i
became something like a co-sysop for Agency BBS to help Avon upgrade
and do some new stuff on Agency BBS.

actually, i asked him to :) but honestly i didn't expect what came
after... which is good in some way, but also frustrating some times.

i write code as a hobby, i am not a programmer and i used to write
things as i want to be or as i undestand them. the thing is that not
everyone else is sharing the same "view" of things, specially in
programs, scripts, mods etc. what i think is "easy" or "well
explained" for some other it may seem "confusing". the thing is, that
both of us/them, we may have right. each brain works different, each
of us have different experiences, we use different OS, programs etc.
so when i started writing stuff for Agency and showed them to Avon,
honestly, some times i got disappointed. not for/from Avon, but for
me.

Avon has a different type of how he looks things. he can "see" things
that i couldn't or i thought there were "obvious". obvious perhaps for
me, but not for others. i couldn't argue with what avon was saying,
cause i knew, at a first glance of his arguments, that he was "right"
and i was "wrong". so... avon - xqtr, 1 - 0.

on the other hand, my approach is always the "simplest" one... i try
to keep things as easy and not add too many features from the
beginning of things. avon is the opposite, he is a "perfectionist",
when you show him a mod/script, he will tell you things to add, that
in the end, the script will appear as a full blown app. :) so in this
case, i was the one, who was "pressing a brake" and told him, that we
should keep things more simple. so avon - xqtr, 0 - 1.

the total score is 1 - 1... who will win? actually both of us. i know
i did learn many things from this "marriage". the most important
lesson for me is that, we/i always have to ask others, on how they see
things. our view, is not always the "right" one, but we can't see it
if we don't ask for another opinion. being close minded and doing only
what we like, at the end will alienate us, from others. trusting
another person and asking for his opinion is a very good step, for our
selves and for making/building a relationship strong.

so being a co-sysop is a trust learning lesson for both parts. it also
gives you a complete different perspective on how others see your work
or even how you think others may see your work, which is good.
learning stuff for your self is always good, even if some of them
displease us. co-sysoping brings more knowledge to both parts, as info
is exchanged between both parts. i learned to use the new Mystic DOS
shell, in a very efficient way and also figure out some quirks of it.
i manage my system locally, but through this experience now i am also
capable of managing it 100% remotely. i also figured that people
trying to install my mods on windows machines, have issues with the
ansis :( sorry for that guys... from now on, i will always save them
in crlf format.

so... yep... being a co-sysop brings knowledge, both technical and
psychological. i think the bbs scene right now, needs more
co-operations in the bbs or software level. we get used to work all
alone and it may have some advantages in some cases but it also has
its drawbacks. at least you should try it once, not only as a co-sysop
but as a helper in any project you can.

the bad thing from this "marriage" is that now, i always want to ask
avon first for his opinion on any of my mods, cause now i have trust
issues for my self... ok... got to stop now, cause i think this
article became to "gay" for my taste... hahahahaha...
