It should just be the first byte of the lmp... check what it is for a
Doom 1.8 lmp, and then change the first byte of the 1.7a lmp to that
value and you should be set. This isn't guaranteed to work, but it's
unlikely that Id changed anything in the lmp format between versions.
Try it and find out... (BTW, that info is in the Doom specs 1.6)

Hmmm, thought that team record was skill 4... oh well, we'll have to
try it again and go for lower. :)

Change the first byte from 107 to 108. (or 0x6b to 0x6c)

Do you have lmps of H2HMUD01 being done on skill 4?

LMPC 2.1 a lmp conversion utility works just fine although made
before the 1.8 time (the date on it was october 24 '94)

I can answer the first question....just type "heretic -episode 4"...it's an
excellent DM level..(it was converted from idmap01.wad (DOOM 2 DM level by
American McGee); very fun....

There's a utility that will do this for you at ftp.cdrom.com:
/pub/doom/text/lmputil14.zip

(It's capable of going up to v. 1.9 if there ever is one. It
works. It can also transform v. 1.2 to the newer format).

Its fun, but where's the exit?

Subject: WinTex Alpha release!

Hello!
I have put on ftp.enst.fr incoming/doom an alpha release of WinTex,
my upcoming Windoze shell for DeuTex and all sort of DOOM tools,
like editors, nodebuilders, reject builders, graphic and sound editors,
and the like. It includes a WAD viewer (much like WadView of DMGRPAH, a
bit faster I think) and a great TEXTURE composition screen!

I hope that this tool can contribute making WAD building easier, but I need
some little help, in the form of suggestions for improvements, ease of use,
and also bug reports.

WinTex works with DOOM, DOOM2 and HERETIC.
You can use it with any version, but the mainfunctions only work with reg. versions,
not shareware. Don't report me bugs due to the shareware!

It's the result of quite long hours of efforts, so I hope it will please you,
and will be usefull to the DOOM fanhood!

Since it's the only level on episode 4 (which you can't really get to
anyway), if there was an exit, it wouldn't actually go anywhere. So
there isn't one. In the non-converted IDMAP01.WAD for DOOM2 the exit is
in the room where you find the Etherial Crossbow.

Subject: New version of RMB: version 2.1

I have uploaded version 2.1 of RMB to
ftp.cdrom.com
it's currently located in /pub/doom/NEWSTUFF
maybe someday it will be moved to /pub/doom/wad_edit/misc

This version of RMB can process both Doom 1, Doom ][ and
Heretic WADs.

As always the most recent version is available through WWW:

http://www.daimi.aau.dk/~hykkelbj/doom.html

Thanks to Steve Benner for all his help with RMB.

Actually, I just now recieved a uunencode of Pavel Hodek (Galaxia.wad author)
doing H2HMUD01.wad solo in UV!

I didn't even think it was possible but Pavel did it in 35:50

I will upload it to ftp.cdrom.com as soon as I can stitch it together after I
get home.

I spoke too soon! There is one single player thats been done by Pavel
Hodak, author of Galaxia and other great wads himself... somewhere around 30
minutes, I'll have the details and the lmp within the day, will advise on
where to get it. There is an international crusade gathering momentum
regarding these competition wads. I invite authors to please send your
input on strategies and level design pertinent to this type of event as this
challenge has really created a lot of renewed interest in the game....

Sorry to use the Doomedit forum for these messages, I encourage all others
that are not directly pertinent to this forum be mailed to me directly so
that we can free up this list for editing issues.

Hmmm... does this mean that it might be possible to do levels up to
E4M9 or did Raven only make E4M1 available? I wonder...

What is H2HMUDxx? I can deduce from context that it is some type of
apparently very difficult WAD, and maybe "H2H" stands for "Head to Head".
Can someone fill me in on the background, history, details, whatever?

Yes, I know this is the wrong list, but this is where the discussion was
established. Is there any progress being made on a Descent editor? I
just got a new P90, and Descent is absolutely utopian on it... especially
playing with someone over modem with an identical machine. The only
problem is, the boards are too big and we need an editor to make some
deathmatch-suitable boards!
