Major Bug! Major Bug! I've discovered a way to reproduce the cubes!
I am playing with Ak'shel and was passing through the third floor of the white tower.
I was thinkig it was just too dull to have the cube in the cursor, then I placed it as a weapon on his hand.
When first I used the cube, it appeared in the cursor again!
But other cube remained at Ak'shell's hand! Now I have two cubes!
Got those "NOT ENOUGH HIT POINTS BLUES"?
Is the strength of the creatures in this game getting you down?
Then here is the fix for your problems.
Increase your Skill, Magic, and Health levels.
Follow these steps one-by-one.
1) dir /O *.dat
2) debug _saveXXX.dat
† NOTE: replace the XXX with the numbers from the last file listed from step 1
3) type the following at the "-" prompt.

4) Start lands of lore and load your last game saved. The Magic and
Heath (Hit points) will have increased to 999 for all your characters
† and all of their skill levels (Fighter, Rogue, and Mage) will have
† increased to 20 or greater. These are not the MAX values, there is
† still room to grow, but it will drastically increase the enjoyment
† of the game, if you are getting sick of dying every other step.

Hex editing you can do on the EXE file:
Hex edit MAIN.EXE
For everlasting health:
Search for 5E FC 26 89 7F 39 26 83
Change to: 5E FC 90 90 90 90 26 83
For everlasting magic points:
Search for 5E FC 26 89 7F 3D EB 12
Change to: 5E FC 90 90 90 90 EB 12
then,
Search for 5E FC 26 01 47 3D 26 83
Change to: 5E FC 90 90 90 90 26 83
