Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know about this great new band
called AMNESIA.
It's Brad Laner's (masterbrain of Medicine) new project.
The album is titled Cherry Flavor Night Time and it is available for a
limited time (the first 2k) as a double CD, including his drum and bass or
should I say electronica alterego Electric Company decomposition of the
Amnesia songs.
A total of 11 songs range from eye licking pop grandeur to total musical
chaos.

Go visit the Amnesia website and enter to win the disk at:

Are "Stay With Me" and "The Individual" the same tracks that were

They are currently in the studio (or getting ready to be in the studio) working
on the new album. My contact at 4ad said that it will be quite a while

Greetings,
I've had a copy of the Sunday Flexi for a while now and i was
wondering if anyone knew who held the rights and the tapes for these songs.
The quality of the two songs (Beach Song, Take Me Down) are really shit on
the flexi, but i would rate Beach Song as one of Slowdive's top 5 of all
time. Maybe if Rachel is reading this, could i suggest a Mailing List/Fan
Club release only, as these songs are difinative and truely worthy of a CD
release.
Also, i had a friend tell me that they saw 3 Slowdive bootlegs on CD
at a record fair, but have also been told (from a good source in the
bootlegging industry) that there were never any released at all. Can anyone
clear this up?

Bring on the new Mojave 3 album!

Anthony.

YESYESYES!!!!!! I have mentioned this on the indiepop-list, where list
members were supposed to throw together a CD comp of OOP songs, and the
floor was open for suggestions - and of course my 1st suggestions were to
release these songs on CD! I always wondered what they would sound like on
clear, crisp quality!

***RACHEL, WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!?!?!******

Help us! I would actually release these on my record label in a heartbeat
if I was allowed to! Who "owns" these songs? Alfred of Sunday? Slowdive?
Creation? Who?!?!?!

Very curious now...

That's a really good idea you've got there. Unfortunately, Rachel has been
kind of "gone" from the list (and replying to at least my e-mail) for
almost six months now, so I'm have no clue to what is happening - no
news, no stories, nothing. I don't even know if she ever reads her e-mail
these days or not. Her mailbox was swamped with e-mail about four months
ago, so I had to remove her from the "normal" version of this list -
though she's still a subscriber of the Digest version.

So I guess this is kind of a "Hello Rachel?" message...
I hope she'll be back soon.

- Oh, and regarding the Slowdive CD bootlegs - I've been actively looking
for such bootlegs ever since I first heard the band and I've never seen
one, heard about one or even a rumor that one would exist. I did see
someone's message about one on the 4AD list the other day (last week),
but I think it's just a homemade copy of a live tape/DAT/MD recording.
It's extremely easy to make covers and make CDs these days...

Rachel actually replied to my email, but with a cc to around 50
other people just about a month ago. I guess it would take a long
time to reply to all those messages individually though.

I had a feeling that this was the case. I'm about to do it myself to
preserve some of my rare taped bootlegs (doing covers and all!).

I also think that `Erik`s Song` by Slowdive (The one looped sample of an
aeroplane flying over?) is possibly inspired by Erik Satie and his piece
`Trois Gymnopedies` (1888). There is a very similar sound and ambience! Any
ideas?

Can anyone else here people talking or murmuringon the end of `Crazy for You`

Did Creation really re-release the singles as well? I'm sure that they
re-released the albums (not Blue Day), though they didn't say anything

Well the copy of Morningrise i picked up has a slightly darker front
cover than that of my 12" copy, and also my friend's who bought his when it
was released. All three are UK releases, so I'd assume a re-pressing would
account for the change in shade of the cover.

Greetings,
Just received an early Slowdive bootleg (thanks Jason), and out of
the 9 songs on the tape, 4 of them i have never heard before, and i have
everything Slowdive has ever released. I assume two of them would be Joy and
Colours In Spin which i have seen listed in another bootleg track listing
from around tis time.
Were these songs ever recorded in the studio? All four are
brilliant, and are along the lines of the Morningrise EP and also in the
vein of Albatross. I could only hope that someone would put out a CD with
all of these un-released tracks on it, and also the ones off the Sunday
flexi. Then life would be so much better.

I can only dream.

Yeah, it sounds great. I'm currently trying to sample a tape from a French
noisy band in order to burn it on a CD. It's not too hard but it's quite
time-consumming : once the sample is made, you need to do a lot of things
before burning, like filtering the white noise or sampling again because you
fucked up during the first try :)
If I succeed, I'll be very glad to do it with some Slowdive stuff.

Yes, but that wouldn't be quite legal...or moral...or something! Anyhow, I
have wanted to look into this for quite some time now, but our only hope
would be Rachel herself, and according to Erik (I think) her e-mail is all
screwey. Anyhow, I would definately front ALL costs to get something like
this released on my label, but there's just no way....al we can all do is

You can't just put whatever songs on a cd and sell it. Well you can but
it's illegal. I've seen slowdive and mojave shirts. They sold em at the

Okay... some people have expressed concerns with the legaility of
making a ng/mailing-list shirt and/or cd... I know other mailing lists have
shirts (I have a nin, and Tori Amos and a good friend has a Depeche Mode)...
Since these shirts would be for "members" of a group or club, I doubt
there'd be any real problems with copyrights (as long as its promoting the
_mailing list_, not the band)... we wouldn't have to use any logos, we could
make our own... a slogan, even... I dunno...

I immagine that the idea of a cd falls under the same principle,
that as longs as its beeing distubuted within the group and not being
advertized, there probably won't be a problem... the Garbage mailing list
recently put out a cd with some unreleased mixes...

Any other personal thoughts???

dear folks,

we've all made a smiths or my bloody valentine bumper sticker at one
stage or another, haven't we? i'm not convinced that it's taking vast
sums of revenue from the artists, and so long as it's not a venture to
line your own pockets, I'd say go ahead and get that swirly eerie
transfer ironed on your sleeves tomorrow morning.

Or you can purchase my now-decrepid 1995 official tour t-shirt (unsigned
by all band members) for $1.35 including postage and handling.

Does anyone else find it kind of off-putting to see another person
wearing the t-shirt of a band you thought were suitably obscure? The
time I found Souvlaki & Pygmalion in the bargain bin of Australia's
biggest and most commercial music shop I almost wept. A definite

"The world will not be the same
I remember, mine turned into scripture by the book peter(?)
now I have become restless the destroyer of wills(?)
i suppose we all thought that one way or another"

comes from at the seventeen minute mark in Abrupt Carnage. Or whether
I've even managed to get a single word of it right! I'm stumped!
thanks.

On the Curve mailing list, someone put together a CD comp. of all Curve
rarities, and he didn't run into any legal problems. I think that the
important point, morally at least, would be that whoever complies the
disc sells it a break even price. It's really no different than sending
someone money for a blank tape and postage for a bootleg, except it costs
slightly more, and you get much better sound quality. We're talking
about compling stuff that is not commercially available, and distributing
it among a select group of fans. I see no problem with that.
