Recently I received many mails, so here I will clarify some points.
Where to buy cheapest - 188 centre in wan chai in HK.
They do NOT do mail orders.
Cost - $150 HK dollars. Divide it by 7.5 for us$ (20 us$)
How to use:
- open the cover and go into music player mode
- insert any of your originals, and put a pin or small screwdriver into
the hole on the top right hand corner. This will make the machine thinks
the door is closed and the disc will turn for 1 second and automatically
download the passcode from the disc. Then it stops. Change disc to the
replicate one and exit music-player mode. Game loads automatically.
You could either leave the pin in and let it run open covered or at some
point you could take the pin out, but I dont know how to do that.
The above procedure does not physically damage the machine as far as I know.
The discs - they are actual 'gold' discs used by the PC. i.e. they are
writables.
So one could replicate the cd themselves if they have a copy and
a writable drive.
Titles - so far I have seen at least 29 titles, from crimecracker to various
rpgs. I shall obtain a list later and post it out.
(to my disappointment, Gundam is not out yet)
Do they work? - I have gunsheaven, a-train, base-ball, kingsfield which worked
fine for me. However, there has been reports that they do not work and also it
depends on the original cd you use to pass the code. I myself have tried many
combinations and all worked for me. There has also been reports that on playing
the originals, they do not work anymore. That has not been my case so far after
many hours of play, my guess is those probably damaged physically the machine
or the software.
