Braised Chicken Thighs

Ingredients:

  • 4 pieces chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1.5 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1.5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cooking wine
  • 3 large slices of ginger
  • 2 star anises
  • 1 tablespoon peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups water

Instructions:

  • Place a cooking pot over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the chicken thighs to the pot.
  • Sear the chicken on all sides until it achieves a beautiful golden brown color.
  • Add 1.5 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1.5 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 tablespoon of cooking wine to the pot.
  • Add 3 large slices of ginger, 2 star anises, 1 tablespoon of peppercorns, 2 bay leaves, and 1 small cinnamon stick.
  • Pour in 2 cups of water to enhance the flavors and create a savory braising liquid.
  • Close the lid of the pot and reduce the heat to medium low.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer gently for about 20-25 minutes. Halfway through the cooking time, carefully flip the ribs over to ensure even braising.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and take out the star anises, bay leaves, peppercorns, ginger slices, and cinnamon stick.
  • Your delicious Braised Chicken Thighs are now ready to be enjoyed.
